  • Hey guys in Cyprus Real 93 m Big Boi's neighborhood and we're at the premiere of season team were on my block on Netflix and you're so excited.

  • We got to talk to the entire cast and we found out who has the party house on the gas.

  • Check it out when he comes time, too, for a time capsule of your life and you look back at this moment in the show and the impact that it's made.

  • What's one thing that you will always remember?

  • I will always remember the fact that I told myself that I wasn't gonna play a gangster and the gangster was able to change my life for the better.

  • I'm not sure.

  • I think I look back and hopefully have this sigh of relief that what I thought would it be attainable are what I strive so hard for happen and, like, be more chill about it.

  • It could have been a complete opposite way as faras what my first experience was like and weigh all love each other and we all support one another.

  • And I'm just so happy to be working with people that I d'oh, I feel so lucky because it's my first series regular and to be on a show where I get to represent, you know, something that I grew up watching.

  • Like when I grew up, I had Will Smith and like Mark in Tow Watch and Eddie Murphy and those guys.

  • And I feel like there hasn't been like a funny black character.

  • You know of this type in so long in this setting in a show that could be so comedic and so dramatic at the same time.

  • So I honestly, it's a blessing for me.

  • Besides, just this whole moment.

  • The fact that there are so many brown and black faces in this room Number one and number two that billboard seeing my billboard in Times Square, that's like That's like That was like a moment for me and my mom.

  • You know what I mean?

  • Because I'm like no single mom raised by a single mom like it's been a struggle, and for her to see that just made everything kind of feel like, you know what?

  • No, Mom, I'm doing it.

  • I'm doing it.

  • So that was a big deal.

  • Is there one moment that you feel like we'll always stick out in your mind?

  • Yes.

  • When we wrapped this season, I'm gonna tear up a little bit.

  • The entire crew gathered and everybody started taking testimonials about how transformative experience was for that.

  • All these people cause our crew is full of people who have been marginalized.

  • You don't feel scene.

  • And it's, um, every one by one.

  • Everybody talked about that.

  • This is like a slice in a time where everybody feels scene and you're so much representation behind the camera and we care about each other so much and we all want to lift each other up.

  • And it was like this incredible, like passing of the baton back and forth, each person each everybody telling everybody was telling how much they got from the experience when they love each other.

  • And for me to be the person who, you know, initiated this whole show from the beginning and have the seed of the idea.

  • And I set out to be the most inclusive show possible to know that I succeeded in that way and that all of these beautiful people are shining and feel seen in such a spectacular way and really reflective of the audience that loves them.

  • Um, it's been the most transformative experience of my career.

  • And I if you had to have all your cast members on one block living, you all each had your individual homes.

  • Whose house would be the party house, fine threats or Julio's?

  • Because Julio's house is always a party house right now as it is, Jesse's No.

  • Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, Julio Julio's house, for sure, Justice would be a competitive second.

  • Love you, but Julio has.

  • He's kind of like bothered us all.

  • Julio Julio, because it's like a party house.

  • Now that's where everybody flocks to.

  • It's like if you want to know where Jason, Danny, they're all at Julio's.

  • I think my house to be the party house because I'm Spanish and I don't like like, quiet like I have to put on noise to go to sleep So I could just, like, see people coming in and now and I would not mind at all.

  • Me or Sierra Yeah, way.

  • Okay.

  • Oh, Jessica, believe it or not, Jessica.

  • Yeah, because she's such a good host.

  • That's actually we normally have a lot of our parties.

  • Yeah, she's a great host.

  • She can cook who's keeping the Christmas lights up all year long?

  • Jason's Because he didn't know they were there.

  • I think Jason would just so you'd have that selfie lighting.

  • So not even further the aesthetic of Christmas.

  • But just so you could get that shine Jason, Jason like a procrastinator all the way.

  • He'd be too lazy to take them down.

  • He's gonna get mad at me for saying, But that's okay.

  • That's either bread because he's too festive are the angle might just be too lazy to taking down.

  • Okay, let me tell you this.

  • Everyone said you may.

  • Why?

  • They were just like he didn't know they were there.

  • Or maybe he didn't want to take him down.

  • He's going to use them for, like, festive light.

  • I was like, You know what, right?

  • Yeah, Yeah, definitely.

  • Percent me because I wanted to feel festive and happy, and you're gonna have a good time.

  • Sorry.

  • Whose house would have the best food, though?

  • Jason's?

  • Why, Uh, he's a cook, and he's a fantastic cook.

  • And his fried chicken is just you know what, Jason?

  • Because I feel like he has all the Spanish seasonings that I would forget at the store.

  • But, uh, I would say Diego, because Diego probably has the most full Stockbridge of, like all water and like protein snacks and like, you know, I wanted at some point have some muscle somewhere.

  • Julio Julio is the best cook ever.

  • Go ahead, say it, Julio.

  • Again, just because he's like the proof is in the pudding and, like we're responsible, that stocking.

  • We have dinners there all the time, so I don't want to keep that up, said Rated.

  • As a Latino actor, I know that you guys have changed so much already.

  • But do you sometimes feel that maybe Hollywood still has taken a little bit too long?

  • Always since day one?

  • I mean, we're just selling story.

  • So why, like anyone tell the story, it's a voice to the youth.

  • You know, a voice to the streets, and it shows a story that needs to be told, you know, and I'm glad that it's on Netflix, you know, like big prices to Netflix for trying, you know, for telling this story.

  • In this way, when it comes down to is it comes down to humanizing people.

  • I grew up with a lot of spooky ease.

  • I have relatives who are spook ease and these choices whether to join a gang or not join a gang.

  • It's not because people are bad.

  • It's because sometimes people have to make decisions in their life.

  • So by no means do we demonize anybody.

  • We try to humanize people and spooky personally.

  • He's my favorite character, right where I think he's probably your favorite and also, you know, a spooky character.

  • Like any character, any person that will is not black and white.

  • They're gray.

  • So whatever you know, whether white, black, Latino, all these people are supposed to be gray, not black and white.

  • So it's spooky.

  • You woke up one day and all Man, it would be awesome to be in a gang for the family.

  • And I think the other thing we're blessed to have Julio Macias Place movie.

  • He is spooky.

  • There's no one better at it.

  • And he's such a great guy.

  • He's an even better human being than he is an actor, so we're honored to have it.

  • When we created the show, we thought people would connect with it if he grew up in the inner city.

  • I was born in Compton grew up in London.

  • I thought people would connect with it in the inner city, were blown away by people.

  • And for India in Brazil, that blows your way.

  • That's incredibly moving.

  • And also, when you have a 45 year old guy in Topeka white guy going, I love it.

  • I am Ruby.

  • I'm like That is awesome.

  • So yeah, it's touched.

  • It's touched a nerve with a lot of people and there's been a fantastic response that we really feel incredibly overwhelmed and blessed.
