00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000 It's good to see you.
Happy--
It's good to see you, too.
--belated birthday.
When was your birthday?
It was October 4.
October 4.
[LAUGHTER]
You turned 30.
I did.
And how was the party?
I wasn't invited.
Actually, no.
That's not the truth, Ellen.
You were invited.
00:00:16,260 --> 00:00:19,000 Last time I was on the show, last year,
you gave me a bunch of [BLEEP] about not inviting you.
But I didn't even know you wanted to be invited.
Well, who wouldn't want to be invited to a party?
'Cause I didn't even know you--
00:00:25,687 --> 00:00:27,270 Well, I didn't even know you liked me.
[LAUGHTER]
Of course I like you.
You knew I liked you.
You've been on the show many times, and don't I show like?
[LAUGHTER]
Yeah, you do.
Yeah.
But I did invite you, and you didn't come.
So--
This time you invited me?
Yeah.
Are you sure?
Yeah.
How do you know--
I don't think so.
Ask everybody.
[LAUGHTER]
Ask Jonathan, your producer.
Who says you were?
OK.
I was invited?
Yeah, he's right there.
Why didn't I go?
I don't know.
[LAUGHTER]
Was it--
You were out of town.
You were out of town.
Oh, yeah.
I had that thing.
[LAUGHTER]
It was probably in Malibu.
That's too far for me to go to.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was.
Yeah.
No, I think I do remember I was invited.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
No, but I really didn't remember that until just now.
And then-- but Tig Notaro performed at your party?
She did.
She did a set?
She did.
It was a surprise.
What did she do?
A bunch of funny stuff.
She's hilarious.
She's my favorite comedian.
Other than you.
[LAUGHTER]
Bye.
[LAUGHTER]
Wow.
I'm sorry.
No, no.
I was just talking to my favorite actress the other day,
Jen--
[LAUGHTER]
--Jen Aniston, and--
She's my favorite actress, too.
[LAUGHTER]
No, Tig is hilarious.
But you saw her first at my birthday party,
so I feel like I introduced her to you.
Yes.
Well, yeah.
I heard about-- because I had left your birthday
party before that happened.
Oh, why?
Gosh, this isn't going well.
No.
I was out of town.
I had to go out of town.
[LAUGHTER]
So you didn't see what she did at my birthday party?
No, but what-- she reenacted it at my birthday party.
Well, how would-- why would she do that if you
didn't know what she had done?
She explained it.
[LAUGHTER]
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
But that's what she did at the party?
She did a whole bit.
It was-- I mean, she did a whole set, and it was, like,
the greatest--
Yeah.
--thing ever.
She's very, very funny.
Do you know who Tig Notaro is?
If you don't, find her.
She's pretty brilliant.
Yeah, you-- she really is brilliant.
And recently, you came to our Gorillapalooza event.
I did.
Thank you for being there.
Thank you for having me.
And I don't know if you saw, but Chris Martin was there.
And he performed, and he was brilliant.
He was.
He was really good.
Did you see him?
I think I saw him--
OK.
--from afar.
So let's talk about your movie Peanut Butter.
[LAUGHTER]
Oh.
Let's talk about Peanut Butter Falcon.
OK.
It's such a sweet movie, and you talk about it.
It is such a sweet movie.
When I read the script, it was one of the most special stories
I've ever read.
And the idea of working with Zack,
who I became really close with-- and the movie is so special.
Shia is amazing, and--
Yeah, Shia was here not too long ago.
We were talking about that that's
the movie where he actually got arrested during filming that
and wrote Honey Boy, which is bri--
have you seen Honey Boy yet?
I haven't seen it yet.
Ooh, it's really good.
Yeah.
But how did you feel about when he got arrested during filming?
I mean, it could've ruined the whole shoot.
It was a really kind of sad and--
I felt very protective of him, and I felt very--
you know, that's a really terrifying and difficult
journey for somebody to experience,
and I felt really aware of that.
And I just-- you know, we were there to make this movie.
And Zack is really a phenomenal human being, and he kind of--
you feel very awake to the truth of life, and humanity,
and love, and people, and real connections when
you're with him.
And I think that that was just a kind of--
a very important moment for Shia.
And I don't condemn people for their mistakes.
I want them to get through it.
So that's what I tried to do.
As we all should.
As we all should, yeah.
[APPLAUSE]
00:04:37,800 --> 00:04:40,500 We asked him a question when he was here,
and this is what he said.
Who was your best onscreen kiss with?
[DING]
Oh, oh.
[MUMBLING]
Yeah, you can.
[BLEEP]
Very important.
This is the most important question.
Oh, Dakota Johnson.
Oh, she's cute.
She's a sweetheart.
Yeah, good.
All right.
Yeah.
[DING]
What's a lie that you recently told?
I just told one just now.
All right.
[LAUGHTER]
The question right before.
So we don't know if that's true.
Maybe he--
Classic.
--was just saying that.
But he said that it was your kiss, so--
Yeah, duh.
Yeah.
[LAUGHTER]
Of course.
Of course.
All right.
We're going take a break, and then we're going to meet Zack.
He's going to come out here.
Yeah.
So he's waiting.
So we'll be back.
