  • Sex and the City is known for many thingsthe female friendship of four strong women,

  • the unpredictable New York City dating scene, and risk-taking fashion.

  • But behind the scenes, the hit HBO series wasn't all tutus and cosmos.

  • Here are the dark secrets the cast of Sex and the City tried to hide.

  • "Lemme say one thing right now.

  • If one more person calls this a catfight"

  • It's hard to imagine Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon

  • as anything other than best friends.

  • But according to at least some of the cast, that couldn't be further from the truth.

  • In 2004, Cattrall opened up about cast-related financial disputes, telling Friday Night with

  • Jonathan Ross,

  • "I felt after six years it was time for all of us to participate in the financial windfall

  • of Sex and the City.

  • When they didn't seem keen on that I thought it was time to move on."

  • Cattrall had hoped to snag $1 million per episode.

  • And while she had reportedly already been making $350,000 per episodeshe was likely

  • making significantly less than Parker, who at one point, served as executive producer

  • on the show.

  • Even the greatest TV shows have their fair share of behind-the-scenes drama.

  • But according to the New York Post, trouble was brewing primarily between Cattrall and

  • Parker, with the latter having allegedly created a mean girls-like clique that left Cattrall

  • feeling left out.

  • Parker addressed the rumored bad blood, telling Marie Claire,

  • "When you're on set, you're working 90-hour weeks, you're never home, you're exhausted.

  • There are times when all of us have been sensitive, and sometimes feelings get hurt.

  • But I don't have any regrets about how I've treated people."

  • Cattrall also downplayed the drama at the time.

  • But it would creep up again just a few years later.

  • Following two successful movie sequels, Parker confirmed to Extra in 2017 that the third

  • film had officially been canceled.

  • "It's over

  • No, yeah.

  • We're not doing it."

  • Admitting that she was more than disappointed about the outcome, she says she was also devastated

  • for fans who were hoping for more.

  • "I think more so it's for that audience that has been so vocal about wanting a third movie,

  • um."

  • Soon after Parker's announcement, the Daily Mail placed the blame on Cattrall and her

  • demands, claiming that she had allegedly asked Warner Bros. to also produce additional projects

  • for her.

  • Uninterested, the company reportedly scrapped the third installment, rather than continue

  • without the original Samantha.

  • But Cattrall had a very different take on the drama.

  • After the cancelation, Cattrall told Piers Morgan that she'd been clear about not wanting

  • to continue to play Samantha Jones, and criticized studio execs for how they handled the situation.

  • "I take to task the people from Sex and the City, and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker."

  • She also claimed the whole thing felt like "a toxic relationship."

  • Nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, 'How are you doing?'"

  • Co-star Willie Garson hit back, alleging Cattrall had attempted to secure a contract long before

  • walking away from the third film.

  • He tweeted:

  • "Dear fans, because I'm 'toxic,' I'm going to negotiate a contract for 6 months, not

  • come to terms, then say I never wanted to do it anyway."

  • "To be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous.”

  • While it was no secret that they weren't exactly besties, Cattrall further distanced herself

  • from Parker when she told Morgan,

  • We've never been friends."

  • Parker later responded to the jab, telling Andy Cohen,

  • "That's not the way I recall our experience."

  • Hoping that their bond from having done the show might "eclipse" any bad feelings, she

  • added,

  • "I always think that what ties us together was this singular experience.

  • It was a professional experience but it became personal."

  • Parker would later extend an olive branch, offering her condolences after the death of

  • Cattrall's brother, but the move just cranked up the tensions even further.

  • Parker is synonymous with her character, Carrie Bradshaw — a fan of love, friendship, and

  • designer shoes.

  • But, according to Cattrall, Parker isn't like that in real life at all.

  • After Parker reached out following her brother's death, Cattrall posted to Parker:

  • "You are not my family.

  • You are not my friend.

  • So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore

  • your 'nice girl' persona."

  • Looks like this tea is still piping hot.
