--Hi, I'm Ali Ewoldt. -- I'm Rodney Ingram.
--I'm Peter Joback. --And we're from the
cast of The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, and we're here to tell you
30 facts you might not know about ourselves.
--I'll start. I grew up in a small town called Pleasantville, PL EA sa NT v IL le, hey!
--I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden.
--I was raised near Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
--I've played Phantom for I think about 700
times in Stockholm in London and here in New York.
--I'm a relative newbie in
Phantom years I've only been here for 10 months.
--I've been in Phantom for about a
year and eight months or so, but I have been auditioning for Phantom for about
10 years. --Mm-hmm
--True story. -- And I played
Tevye in a Mexican production of Fiddler on the Roof.
--I was 10 years old. I
did I played Kurt von Trapp in Sound of Music
--My first job out of college was as the
Jasmine flying body double in the Aladdin show at Disneyland.
--I first saw
Phantom in 2007 in Las Vegas with Sierra Boggess before I knew what a Sierra
Boggess was.
--We sat in one of the boxes, which I remember because the whole time
my dad kept trying to tease me to tell me that we were in box 5, and the Phantom
was gonna appear.
--In Sweden we have something called the golden mask. It's
just like Tony Awards. And I think I've got it twice.
--Do you have to wear it when
you win and you like...
--No, no.
--When I put on the old man makeup at the top of show
it's very zen experience because I feel like I'm applying the years and I get to
be old man, which I feel like plays into my strengths anyway.
--Rodney also loves being photographed man.
--I hate being photographed as an old man let that be a record.
--I have two kids. Two daughters
that are my love. -- I have a lovely rescue puppy
named Mia-Belle. She's a toy poodle mix.
--I'm somewhat of a donut enthusiast. As we all know Donuts spelled the Homer Simpson
would d-o-n-u-t is like the equivalent of somebody trying to spell
night n-i-t-e. I mean it's a little gauche for my taste, but you understand.
--I don't bake at all, not even a little bit.
--I did Chris in Miss Saigon with a
wonderful girl called Ma-Anne Dionisio whom I think is the best Kim ever.
--I'm probably one of the few Filipino actresses on Broadway who has not been
in Miss Saigon ever.
Yeah, so far.
--I'm also a recording artist. -- Mm-hmm
--I've done I think fifteen albums -- That's absurd.
--I just made my Carnegie Hall debut with in New York Pops singing with Matt Doyle.
--What's your least favorite costume you've ever worn?
--Uh uh it's been
affectionately referred to as blond-ney in the ensemble track in Aladdin that I
had. It was for only like two seconds on stage but it was this really gaudy
blonde wig and a velvet suit. It was not ideal
--I had a blonde moment when I worked for Disney in Japan, Tokyo DisneySea. I had
this blonde wig that I sang Summertime in and we called it the Miss Piggy wig.
--I always have a green apple before the show because it's like it's too good for
my throat phlegm and all that.
--Nice.
--I've started the ritual of going through the entirety of
my Hannibal ballet and also Think of Me before the show. And the problem with
starting rituals is once you start you can't stop them
because then superstition says that like you need to keep doing them, so I'm stuck.
--That's true.
Whenever you're singing "Wishing," I go
through my lyrics of the counterpoint.
--I do it up in the cross!
I go through everything.
--I know and now I feel like if I don't do it, I'm
gonna like you know lose my place in the music or something.
--I had my like big break in Sweden,
where I'm from, in a show that was written by Bjorn and Benny, you know the
Abba guys.
--Yeah! --Yeah.
--What's your opinion on Mamma Mia?
--I like it. I saw the opening in London. --Do
you want to be in it?
--Yeah hashtag cast me but like off the record.
[coughs] [laughs]
--I like that.
--Let's wrap it up.
--We are so excited to celebrate phantoms 30th anniversary!
--Yeah, we hope all of you will come and see us.
--Absolutely.
Please come pay us a visit.
