Ok so we've got this little word here which is favour

今日のこの単語 「favour」

so what does favour mean?

意味はなんだと思いますか？

well a favour is a kind or generous action that someone does for you

「favour」とは誰かが親切でしてくれる行為、頼みごと

or you do for someone, it can also be reversed

またはあなたがしてあげる頼みごと、どちらの場合もありますね

so when you ask someone for a favour, you're asking them to do something nice for you

なので、あなたが頼みごとを頼むということは、あなたにとって利益になることを

that's gonna benefit you

相手にしてくれるよう頼むということです

that's why it's important to understand how to ask for one in a nice and polite way

ですから、丁寧に、礼儀正しく訪ねることが重要なのです

because you're asking them to do something for you

なぜなら相手に何かをするよう頼むのですからね

so you don't want to make them feel obliges and you don't want to offend them or annoy them

相手に強制したり、気を悪くさせたり、困らせないよう気をつけましょう

so, there are five basic ways in which we can ask for a favour

では、頼みごとをする際の言い方５つご紹介します

ok, so it's going to be a question so we need our question mark

質問になりますので、最後はクエスチョン・マークを忘れずに

the first one, can I ask

１つ目は、「Can I ask」に続けて

Can I ask a favour?

「Can I ask a favour?」頼みごとをしてもいいですか？

The next one, could you do me

次は「Could you do me」を使い

Could you do me a favour?

「Could you do me a favour?」 頼みごとしていただけますか？

The third, could you possibly do me

3つ目、「Could you possibly do me」に続けて

Could you possibly do me a favour?

「Could you possibly do me a favour?」頼みごとしていただけたりしますか？

Number 4, could I ask you to do me

4つ目「Could I ask you to do me」を使って

Ok so we have these 5 questions that are all variations of asking someone to do you a favour

Now maybe you want to be a bit more persuasive

では今度はもう少し説得力を付け加えたい場合は

so you need to exaggerate the favour, you need to make it seem really really important

「頼みごと」を少し強調し、大変重要なことであると表現しましょう

Well I've got three options for you in this case

それには3つのポイントがあります

So we're just going to use 'could you do me'

まずは「Could you do me」と

and a favour and we're going to add a word in the middle

「favour」を使いますが、真ん中に付け加えるものがあります

We've got 'a really big'

それは、「a really big」です

Could you do me a really big favour?

「Could you do me a really big favour?」重要なお願いをしてもいいでしょうか？

We've also got 'a massive'

他には「a massive」

Could you do me a massive favour?

「Could you do me a massive favour?」重要なお願いをしてもいいでしょうか？

And then finally we've got 'a huge'

そして最後に「a huge」です

Could you do me a huge favour?

「Could you do me a huge favour?」大きなお願いしてもいいでしょうか？

So those are 3 ways of exaggerating the favour and making the person more obliged to do it for you

これらが「頼みごと」を強調した言い方です、これで相手はあなたを助けてあげたくなりますね

Ok, so you've managed to persuade your friend to do the favour for you

では、あなたは友達をお願いをするよう説得することができました

Now what do you do?

次はなんでしょう？

Well you have to thank them! So..

それはお礼です！

Apart from a simple 'thank you so much' there are other ways in which you can thank them for doing a favour

単なる「Thank you so much」の他にお願いごとをしてもらった感謝を表す表現はまだあります

My favourite one is "Ah! you're a lifesaver!'

私がよく使うのは「Ah! you're a lifesaver!」あなたのおかげでものすごく助かったわ！

you have saved my life!

「命拾いした！」

you're a lifesaver!

「助かった！」

That's a really nice colloquial phrase to use

これはとても便利な口語表現です

Then, to show even more appreciation you could say that you owe them a favour now

そして、感謝をより表現したいときは、「借りができたよ」

You could say 'I really owe you one'

「I really owe you one」「借りができたよ」ということができます

or I owe you big time!

または「I owe you big time!」「大きな借りができたよ！」もいいですね

Or perhaps you could offer them a reward like

他には相手にお礼を提示するのもいいですね

I owe you a drink, or I'll buy you a drink next time we're out

「I owe you a drink」飲み物ご馳走するよ「I'll buy you a drink next time we're out」今度飲み物奢らせてください

Or maybe, if the favour is appropriate then you can offer to return the favour

または、お願いごとが妥当なものであれば、今度はあなたが相手のお願いごとを聞くこともできます

So you promise to do the same for them one day in the future
