hey gang wanted to
Do a video on why I carry knives and why I like knives.
I get that question a lot from friends of mine.
and why do you carry a knife, what do you use it for.
as simple as the answer sounds.
The utility of having a knife on you is only observed by carrying one.
as weird as that sounds.
Not having a knife on you. The chances of needing one I dont think they lessen .
But, having one on you makes everyday utilitarian tasks easier.
you can get things accomplished quicker than if you didnt have one
Otherwise you would need to search for a pair of scissors or a razor. search for something in a drawer.
Then you dont need to walk across the kitchen to get a knife.
Its ease of use,
and utility
realisticaly what it boils down to for me
sometimes you might carry
a bigger knife on you and a larger knife
might not always be required
sometimes a small knife will do.
Or you want a larger knife
for whatever reason
the functionality of the blade itself, one of the oldest tools
Its prevalent in the way that. If you have one on you. You'll use it
I tell that to people when they think about getting a knife.
it sounds idiotic but, I said it to my Dad the other day.
and we got him a Spyderco Salt 1,
He is not really into knives, he loves building things.
Likes doing things with his hands.
He said "your right, I carry the knife in my pocket and I find myself using it all the time"
and if you didnt have it on you
you would be going in another directoins, looking for other things to accomplish your task .
Cutting or Prying.
Getting a small item
out of an area that you would need a delicate blade for
its nice having that on you
Being prepared for
whatever the case may be
Lots of folks may carry a Cadet or a Farmer
It may be all the knife you need in addition to that
Comes with nail file, bottle open lots of utility
The utility out of that its fantastic
some might need a quicker opening style blade. Get a one hand deployment
People ask, why do you need a knife that opens with one hand?
Half the time I use a knife my other hand is holding something.
Maybe its a package, maybe i am pushing something into place
Whatever it is I like having a knife on me that I can open one handed.
I will still probably carry a secondary knife like the alox to
Being prepared and being ready
Its also like carrying a flashlight on you.
a piece of mind for myself
I know I wont have to worry about accomplishing a task
and I can take care of something I couldnt have if i didnt have a knife on me
whenever I am able to, I typically have a knife on me.
Functionality use aside, I just like knives
its something that brings me enjoyment
I like carrying knives, I like playing with them
Its fun to flick it open and closed
keep your hands busy
Maybe your chatting on the phone, or working on something
Keeps those fine motor skills going
Keep me entertained while Im chillin or sitting at my desk
collection wise...
people collect the weirdest things
Lots of people collect knives
A knife in my option at least has some function. Unlike something...A empty perfume bottle
I have aunts that have the 3rd largest collection in the US
I think its idiotic
But thats a collection, thats what their into
Whatever you collect maybe its stamps.
Maybe its football helments
soccer jerzes
whatever it is a collection bring you joy
I was reading an article
that said collecting derives from a prehistoric instinct
A primitive form
of hunting and gathering
finding multiples of the same item
was part of our survivle
techincally its a old survival instinct
atl east thats what I read about
its something that makes me happy, its something that
I can use. Firearms thats
something I also collect
I kinda hindered my firearm collecting
Because I really didnt use them as much. Going to the range is fun.
Watches is another things I love and collect
And I take them with me. Not only is it
Cool and something I like
but its also functional
knives are functional, watches are functional flashlights functional
and collectable totally
fun bring me enjoyment. All the above
anything that makes you happy
its not harming anyone
and monetarily speaking your not
buying knives
instead of paying your mortgage
then go for it
if your saying hey, do I
need a pocket knife?
I would say you wouldnt know you needed one until you carried one
Maybe you think I am wrong
call it whatever you want it to be
Thats just kinda how i feel about it
pretty much everyone that I interact with
I try to you know
I wont mention it but if they ask me about my knife I would suggest they have one as well.
happy to give my opinion and half the time I convince them to grab one
they generally come back and say, I am glad I have a knife now.
you have it on you you'll use it
the older you are
the longer youll live
both statistics are true
Let me know if you have any questions. hope you guys have a good day.
Thanks for watching
