and I also love I guess noticing the differences between the two styles

この2つのスタイルは同じくらい大好き

and how they do things differently, because yeah I love both.

メイクの仕方が全然違うから本当に大好きなの

So I want to do a video to show you exactly what the differences between

だからどんなに違うか見せられるビデオにしたい思います

Korean style makeup is and American style makeup from my perspective.

私から見た韓国のメイクと欧米のメイクのスタイルね

Just as a disclaimer before you watch this video,

このビデオを見てもらう前に、免責事項として

this video is not intended to stereotype any particular culture,

特にステレオタイプなメイクという訳じゃないし

or say this is the only way Koreans do makeup or this is the only way Americans do makeup,

韓国人とかアメリカ人がこのスタイルでしかメイクしないって訳でもないの

or what western style makeup is, I just wanted to touch upon all the trends I’ve seen in Korea that I love,

これが欧米の代表的なスタイルじゃない。ただ韓国で見た私の好きなトレンドに触れたいだけ

and also the trends I’ve seen in American style makeup that I love,

それとアメリカで見てきた私の好きなトレンドもね

so I wanted to do a half face of each to kind of show you guys the differences

だから顔の半分ずつに各々のメイクをして違いを見せるね

of the two styles as interpreted by me, I hope you guys enjoy this video and this tutorial

私が解釈した2つのスタイルをね。このビデオとメイク術を楽しんで欲しいです

and I hope you guys learn something from it, let’s get straight to it

少しでも勉強になれば嬉しいな。じゃ始めるよ

The primer I’m using helps you makeup stay and you’ll notice

私が使っている下地はメイクの持ちを良くしてくれるの

that it blends really well with my skin tone

私の肌のトーンにすごく馴染みが良いよね

primers is used in American makeup are clear,

アメリカで使われる下地はクリアで

I have slight and subtle pale finish,

ほんのわずかに青白く仕上がる

creams primer in general are a lot more brightening,

一般的にクリーム下地はもっと明るくて

a lot of the new primer products, come in various colors

色んなカラーの下地化粧品の新しい物がたくさんあるよ

like pink and greens to help color correct olive skin tone,

ピンクやグリーンはオリーブ色の肌を整えてくれる

in favor of a whiter more pinky skin color,

もっと白くてピンク色の肌色の方が好みならね

in general they are more brightening and moisture your skin slightly,

一般的には肌をもっと明るくして少ししっとりさせる

they also are very very pleasant and quite shining as well.

付け心地がとっても良くてかなり輝くよ

The point of American foundation is to match your skin color,

アメリカのファンデのポイントは肌の色に合わせること

some use a slight darker shade to mimic a more glowy color on the skin.

もっとツヤを出すために少し暗めのシャドウを使う人もいる

A matte finish is preferred so powder is applied on top,

マットな仕上がりが好まれるから上からパウダーをつけるの

in Korea a cushion foundation is really a must for any foundation rutine,

韓国ではあらゆるファンデにパフを使うのが絶対にマストで

the common both bb and cc formulations usually have brightening properties

ＢＢとＣＣ両方とも肌を明るくする特性があるわ

and really really moisturizing skin essences infused in the product.

商品に保湿成分がすっごく入ってる

Koreans usually love the dewy look as well,

潤いのあるスタイルが韓国では愛用されてるね

which means the finish is almost oily looking but it is supposed to represent a well moisturized complexion,

オイリーに見えそうな仕上がりだけど、潤いのある肌を表現しているみたい

and although my finish isn’t extremely dewy,

私の仕上がりはそこまで潤ってる感じじゃないけど

you can see it is dewyer.

ちょっとしっとりしてるね

I don’t have a lot of differences to point out in terms of concealers

コンシーラーに関してはそこまで大差はないの

Now contouring has been a huge trend in America makeup,

欧米のメイクにはコントロールカラーが大流行中だから

so I had to include this, the point of contouring is to bring out some nice chiseled cheekbones,

言っておかなきゃね。コントロールカラーのポイントは素敵な彫刻の様な頬骨を引き出すこと

create a narrower forehead, stronger nose bridge,

おでこを狭くして、鼻筋を強調させて

and overall stronger and more structured face,

全体的に強調して輪郭を引き出す顔

highlighters are also used on the cheekbones, bridge of nose and above the cupid's bow in your lips,

ハイライトは頬骨と鼻筋、そして上唇のくぼみの上に使うよ

as well as in your chin, is quite common to use larger contrasting colors,

それと顎にもね。一般的にコントラストを強めるためにかなり使うの

however I’ve chosen a more subtle color palette.

for the cheeks, bronzers are so popular and our must have,

and this is usually applied underneath the cheekbones, and blended up towards the temples,

also coral and peach colors are a favorite on the cheeks for American makeup looks and gives a glowy,

elegant and sophisticated look.

In Korea contouring is actually not that popular,

実は韓国ではコントロールカラーはそこまで人気じゃないわ

more often that not, highlighters are used more often to bring out the cheekbones,

たいていハイライトは頬骨を引き出すのに使われたり

nose bridge, and forehead lines, with only subtle contouring on the nose and jaw line if any,

鼻筋やおでこの筋にも使うの。ほんの少しだけ鼻と顎筋にも使われることもあるみたい

contour colors are a lot more subtle, and often only one shade darker than the skin color,

コントロールカラーはホントに少しだけで、だいたい肌よりも１トーンだけ暗いシャドウを使うの

pink blush is also a very popular choice in Korea,

韓国でもピンクのチークがとても人気で

and is applied on the apples of the cheeks in a round manner for a really cute and innocent flush,

頬に丸く付けてすごく可愛くて純真な印象ね

like when a baby blushes they have that pink area on the cheeks,

まるで赤ちゃんがほっぺを赤くしているみたいだね

that is the kind of look they like to mimic.

こんな感じが彼女たちが好きなスタイルだよ

American makeup styles there are some many different brown shades to work with,

欧米スタイルには様々なブラウンのシャドウが使われてる

but a natural arch is quite common and popular

でもナチュラルなアーチが一般的で人気

and it really helps you open up the eyes,

それがすごく目を大きくしてくれるよ

now I’m struggling because my brows have been groomed straight,

私の眉毛は真っ直ぐに整えてあるから苦労してるの

and I trying my best to create the arch,

アーチを作るためにベストを尽くすね

also adding concealer to clean up brow makeup is common,

眉毛を綺麗にするには、よくコンシーラーが使われる

and this is also used so that there is a strong and sharp line between the brow and the skin,

そうすれば強くてシャープなラインの眉毛が描けるよ

strong and clean brows are the cornerstones of American makeup,

強くてはっきりした眉が欧米メイクの要なの

apologies for messing this up a bit, I am trying my best.

ちょっと変になっちゃってゴメンね、でも頑張ったの

Korean brows on the other hand are generally straighter and thicker,

一方韓国の眉は一般的にストレートで厚いね

the colors they use seem to be also more powdery looking and light and not as bold,

色ももっとパウダリーで軽くて目立たないみたいだね

they prefer their brow color to be soft and natural and lighter than their hair color.

ソフトでナチュラルで自分の髪より明るい眉色を好む

Emphasizing the crease and contour of the eye is common theme in eye shadow looks,

アイシャドウには目の二重や形を強調するのが共通のテーマだね

cut creases, smokey eyes, all love to bring out the creases and contour of the eyes,

くっきりとした二重、スモーキーな目の様に目を目立たせるのが皆大好き

darker colors are used in the crease and heavy,

暗めの色が二重のラインにすごく使われてて

with highlighting colors used on the browband packed onto the lid for cut crease looks and also in the corners,

ハイライトカラーは眉下に使って、くっきりした目にするために瞼と隅にものせる。

bright and bold colors with heavy pigments are also very very popular

しっかり色づく明るくて目立つ色もとっても人気

and there is also a lot of room for creativity with eye looks here,

ここもまだクリエイティブな目にするためのスペースがあるよ

also blending is a huge part of this look because of the number of colors used,

たくさん色を使うから馴染ませることも大切よ

in terms of eyeliner shade, the wing liner is a classic shape in American makeup,

アイライナーシャドウに関しては羽根の様なラインが欧米では典型ね

because it opens up the eyes, fools the eye up into a more youthful and sexy shape,

目が大きくなるし若々しくてセクシーな目になれるからね

and it’s common to smoke out the lower lids with darker colors,

暗めの色で下瞼をぼかすのが一般的で

the look isn’t finish of course without some bold lashes

もちろん派手なまつ毛も欠かせないよ

and lots of mascara large fake lashes the longer the better.

For Korean eyeshadow looks the emphasis is really on brightening the eyes,

韓国のアイシャドウは目を輝かせることを強調してるみたい

because the crease is not always a common feature of Asian women most of the time,

アジアの女性にとって二重はそこまで一般的じゃないからね

they’re also not very deep so usually a single wash of color

それにそこまで二重が深くないから大抵１色か

or two wash of color is blended out and just used to brighten the eye

２色を馴染ませて目を輝かせてるのね

and this is applied just over the entire socket,

そして全体に塗る

however shimmer and pearl color are commonly applied to the inner corner of the eyes

でもキラキラしたパールカラーをよく目の内側の隅にのせて

and also underneath the lower lash line to create a cute eye bag effect,

the dark color is usually applied along the lash line as opposed to the crease

and join to the outer third of the lower lash line, to make your eyes look longer and bigger,

in eyeliner look following the natural eye line or coming straight out of the side is very common,

overly slanted eyes are actually considered too fierce looking in Korea

実は韓国では過剰に傾斜した目は激しすぎるスタイルだと考えられてるの

so a more natural curve for the eyeliner is adopted,

だからもっとナチュラルな曲線のアイラインが選ばれてる

cut lashes are also extremely important to open up the eye, as well as just a few cuts of mascara,

まつ毛をカールさせるのは目を大きくするのに極めて大切。マスカラもね

but overly long lashes are not a common look in Korean makeup,

でも韓国では長過ぎるまつ毛は一般的じゃなくて

natural looking lashes are much more preferred.

Lip liner is often used in America makeup because bold color lip looks are very very common

派手な色の唇が一般的だからリップライナーは欧米メイクでよく使われるの

lip liner prevents the lipstick from bleeding,

リップラインを引くと口紅がはみ出ないし

lip liners are also increasingly used to overline the lips creating a larger pouty lip, which I try to do here,

私が今してる様にぽってりした唇にするためにリップラインを唇より大きく描くことが増えてきてる

also new colors are favorite with pigment

新色は色づきが人気

and that lipstick is a popular formulation choice,

このリップは人気な仕様のチョイスよ

here I have decided to apply a new color

今回は新色を使うことにしたの

and also don’t forget the gloss for large pouty kissable lips,

キスしたくなるような、ぽってりした唇にはグロスを忘れないでね

well not really kissable because boys hate getting glass all over their lips but it looks kissable,

まぁ本当は男の子はグロスが付くからイヤなんだけど、キスしたくなる見た目だよね

the gradient lip is pretty much the number one look in Korea,

グラデーションリップは韓国でほとんどNO.1のスタイルね

many colors are used but pinks and peaches are the most popular,

たくさん種類があるけどピンクとピーチが一番人気

just apply the color to the center and use your finger to dab it out,

中央に塗って指を使って軽く押し当てるの

cherry is also becoming a very common and popular choice of color these days in Korea,

近頃韓国ではチェリーもすごく多くて人気のチョイスよ

in terms of the formulation options tints are probably the most popular lip formulation by far,

使用感のオプションに関してはティントがたぶん今のところ一番人気ね

instead of the liners concealer is actually often used to conceal the lip line

リップライナーに比べてコンシーラーはリップラインを隠すのによく使われて

and to turn down the lip colors to create an illusion of small rose lips

小さなバラの様な唇に見せるために唇の色を抑えてるの

where the color is only strong in the center of the lip,

唇の中央だけを強く色出してる

it’s pretty much a complete opposite of American makeup.

欧米メイクとは完全に正反対だね

Now we’ve completed the look, I must look pretty silly with a half half face on,

メイクが完了したよ。顔が半分ずつ違うからかなりバカっぽいかも

but I wanted to show you the differences at the same time

でも同時に違いを見せたかったの
