I love these next episodes
because they feature the 13 Hour Meet & Greet
that I did back in 2010, in Nashville.
It was so insane.
So intense. So much fun.
And fun fact:
around the 3-minute mark-ish
you may see someone that you recognize
because she has since 2010 become
a very successful country singer in her own right.
But back then she was waiting in line
at the 13 Hour Meet & Greet.
So make sure and watch that
I hope you like it.
Every year that I've had an album out,
I participated in CMA Musical Fest.
back to when I was 16 years old.
It's a great way to meet fans
but I had an idea for doing it a little differently this year.
One of the things that I wanted to do this year
to make this Meet & Greet different than the other
was to sign for a ridiculous amount of time.
I wanted to be there
showing the fans that I wasn't gonna stop signing.
And this wasn't something that
I just want to take up part of my day.
This was an all day thing and I
wanted to sign for 13 hours.
13 is my lucky number so...
It's had a lot of great significance in my life.
So that's why I chose that number to sign.
I took this idea to my management team
and we started talking about it and discussing it
working out the details
This was Taylor's idea.
Taylor one day walked in with this interesting idea
What do you gonna do for CMA
And she said I wanted do something for the fans.
So we said "Ok, cool. There are a lot of great ideas to do that."
And she said "No, I really wanna do something for the fans. "
In Taylor typical style.
So what Taylor comes up with is 13 Hour Meet & Greet
We reserved the date for the Bridgestone Arena
and started putting together the plan for
this to be
this dream magical Meet & Greet that I
I've thought about in my head.
We started with the concept that
it couldn't just be people wanting to meet Taylor
we've got to have some other things going on
to keep them entertained.
2,220 people were in line
counter this morning at 6:15 before the door was open.
That was the most that we knew we could possibly even do
in the 13-hour period
so we came up with the wristband concept.
It was free to get into the building.
You can walk around
and take tours of the tour buses
and meet the people in the band
and you can get like free makeup
and free greeting cards
and all this fun stuff.
And meanwhile,
you're randomly selected
to get in the line.
Staring at 8 o'clock this morning,
you had to text 66937 wristring
And if you got a reply
you got to pick up your wristbands.
They said "Diana, turn around, go check your phone."
"Daina, check your phone."
And I'm like,
"I can't, I can't find my phone!"
You know, I'm like randomly searching
And I found it and it said:
"Daina, you get to meet Taylor Swift today."
And I just, I screamed and I grabbed her hands
I'm like, "We're going. This is what we came here for."
There were teams of people who were going around.
The bearers of the wristbands.
And eventually the fans started figuring out
who those people were, so they would
they would go up to them
and try to display their fanese.
in the most extravagant way possible.
You look like a man that can give us a wristband.
We really want to meet them. Can you give us a hand?
We came from Kentucky.
We really wanna meet you in a fan's show!
I really like excitable loud
boisterous people
who make their presence known.
This is Argentina Monologue.
People were chosen for different reasons.
Whether it was this, you know, adorable little kid or,
You know, that's quite girls over here
who just look very sweet, you know.
they get into or that the crazy loud one
We were just walking around in big circles
so someone will see us and give us wristbands
and complete our lives.
Ok, so we came up this idea to do this, I guess, chant.
Meeting Taylor would be great
And you gave us wristbands which is really exciting.
Thank you so much.
And then we just matter
And it's really cool that the idea like that can
Get you so far
And her mom gave me her bracelet that she had on her
to our goal meter 'cause she said
you have to meter with this picture
and all that other stuff
this picture is actually on her poster board of the tour bus
which is really awesome.
So I came specifically just to see Taylor.
I just figured I need to make something cool.
like wear it to the concert to stand out
And a lady came up to me and that was awesome.
So she said, if I come back in an hour
she'll hook me up with some Meet & Greet
and that made my day.
I was freaking out.
This is my favorite group of girls all day.
You've been hanging out non-stop here.
- I told them, what's Taylor Swift's lucky number? - 13!
That's right. You're the first group to do
13 Taylor Swift's music videos.
You get to meet her.
It took us 2 and half hours to meet her but it was worth it.
We dresses as Juliet.
And then her dad
right up there
He's Romeo.
And we're trading him to get wristbands
to meet Taylor.
Yeah, we got wristbands!
It was different reasons and different ways
but it was randomly selected
and I'm really happy about that.
There are some really fun fan stories.
By some, I mean hundreds of ones that stick out of my mind.
One of my favorites from this year was
this guy Gavin who came backstage
at the T-party room at the DC show.
He had me signed right under his ribs
very prominent placement.
Do you want me to write, like, Taylor loves, and your name?
Yeah, my name is Gavin.
I've been in love with Taylor since I can remember
I'm gonna get this tattoo, like, I'm not kidding.
He came back to the 13-Hour Meet & Greet
with it tattooed on.
That's awesome. That is so permanent.
I know. I love it.
But it's ok because his mom was there
and she approved the whole thing.
I'm very impressed.
I'm mostly impressed with your mom
Your mom, for letting you do this.
This is really...
He's crazy enough to do it for Taylor.
But I figured,
if I was young back then
I would've done it too.
There you do.
Give me a hug.
- You're a sweet boy. - Thank you so much.
In the 13-Hour Meet & Greet,
there were a lot of tears coming from the fans.
You get a lot of different reactions from people.
When they feel like your music
has helped them figure out their emotions and their feelings.
This is so exciting. I can't even...
Thank you so much.
How long have you guys been waiting?
26 hours.
- How many?! - 26 hours.
- Make you got it. - Yeah. For sure.
It's better than I even, you know, thought.
It's even better than I dreamed.
I've never experienced anything better in my life.
Music is a very intimate connection between people.
I think that it's amazing that people cry.
I think that it's the nicest compliment in the world
when someone is so moved by the idea of
getting to say hi to you that they would get emotional.
That's awesome.
Don't miss part 2 of behind the scenes of
my 13-Hour Meet & Greet.
