Hi my name is Caroline Lalive, I am a 3 time Olympian and I am here in Steamboat
Colorado
Today we're gonna work on carving. And what's carving? Carving is the ability to lay our
skis over on the edge and making nice beautiful clean turns. One of the first
aspects of carving is to be able to keep our skis parallel. and one of the easiest
ways of doing so
is to roll your inside knee in simultaneously with your outside leg.
So a common concern is that we make an A frame but what
we want to do is keep our skis nice and parallel.
the whole way through the turn.
After we keep our skis parallel an important part is to be able to drive our inside
knee in simultaneously with our outside leg creating a nice angle.
the flats are great place to work on your carving
you wont get intimidated by the speed and it's a perfect place to work on rolling
our knees and ankles and keeping our knees nice and parallel.
So hopefully you can keep those two tips in mind. Parallel skis and driving that
inside knee
and you will be carving in no time.
I look forward to seeing you on the slopes.
