and in today's lesson we are gonna look at the words

今日のレッスンでは、この言葉を見てみましょう。

'Some' and 'Any', now in English when do we use these words?

'some'と'Any'、今、英語ではこれらの単語はいつ使うのでしょうか？

well, when we are unable to specify

を指定できない場合は

an exact number or an exact amount

寸分違わぬ

that's when we end up using the words - Some

その時、私たちは言葉を使うことになります。

and Any, for example: We say

とAnyは、例えば私たちは次のように言います。

I saw three elephants at the zoo today

今日は動物園で三匹のゾウを見ました。

so here when you say - I saw three elephants, you are specifically mentioning

ここでは、「３頭の象を見た」と言うとき、具体的には「３頭の象を見た」と言っているのですね。

the number of elephants that you saw at the zoo.

動物園で見たゾウの数

but, if you just say that I saw

でも、私が見たというだけなら

some elephants, Well! The 'some' word specifies

some elephants, Well!"some "という単語は

that you might have seen three or four

三つ四つとも見たことがあるような

or few elephants. And then

または数頭の象。そして、その時には

the word 'Any'- I didn't see any elephants at the zoo today

今日は動物園でゾウを見なかった

so 'Any'- Well! that tells you that you didn't see

だから何も見てないってことだな

any elephants. Right?

どんな象でもだろ？

So, let's understand when do we use the words

では、どのような時に使うのかを理解しておきましょう。

'Some' & 'Any' and how correctly it should be used in English.

'some' & 'Any'と英語での正しい使い方

So, we have examples here, well the first rule

だから、ここでは例を挙げていますが、最初のルールは

The word 'Some' - along with the words like somebody

誰かのような言葉と一緒に「何か」という言葉も

Something, Someone, Somewhere

何か、誰か、どこかで

or words like

のような言葉や

Anybody, Anyone, Anywhere

誰でも、誰でも、どこでも

and so on.... So, we gonna learn

といったようなことが書かれているのですが...。だから、私たちは学ぶつもりで

to use these words as well, So, now the word

を使って、これらの言葉も使うようになりました。

'some' along with the words like somebody, somewhere, someone

どっか

these words are always use in positive sentences

是が非でも

okay, whereas the word 'Any'

いいんだけど、'Any'という言葉が

along with the words like anybody, anyone, anywhere

誰でも、誰でも、どこでも、という言葉と一緒に

are used in negative sentences.

は否定文で使われています。

So, here I have two examples for you with positive sentences

だから、ここで私は肯定的な文であなたのための2つの例を持っています。

using the word 'some' - Eg. We got some flowers

花が咲いたよ

So, here I am saying that - We bought some flowers

花を買ってきました。

Okay, Now of course you are not mentioning, how many flowers did you buy

さて、もちろん、今、あなたは言及していませんが、いくつの花を買ったのですか？

you were saying that - We bought some flowers

そういえば花を買ってきました

and if you look at the example here

で、ここの例を見てみると

We didn't buy any flowers.

花は買っていません。

Okay, this is negative, this is positive

よし、これはネガティブ、これはポジティブ

So, the word 'some' is used in a positive sentence

ということで、「ある」という言葉はポジティブな文の中では

whereas the word 'any' is used in a negative sentence

否定文では「なんでも」という言葉が使われるのに対し、「なんでも

let's look at another example - He is busy,

別の例を見てみましょう - He is busy.

he has got some work to do. Wow! hard working guy, right?

仕事があるんだよ。うわぁ～、働き者だよね。

So, He is busy , he has got some work to do

だから、彼は忙しい、彼はいくつかの仕事を持っています。

you have used the word 'Some' well! because it's a

あなたは「いくつか」という言葉をうまく使っていますね！なぜならば、それは

positive sentence, but if you look at example

肯定文ですが、例を見てみると

at the example over here- He is lazy,

彼は怠け者です。

He never does any work. So, never

彼は何の仕事もしないだから、決して

that means, it's a negative sentence, right? He's lazy, he never does any work

ということは、否定文ですよね？ 彼は怠け者で、何の仕事もしない

well that's why we have used the word 'any'

だからこそ「何でも」という言葉を使った

okay, so this first rule that you need to keep in mind - that we use the word 'Some'

最初に心に留めておく必要があるルールは「いくつか」という言葉を使うことです

along with these words

この言葉と共に

in positive sentences, whereas we use the word "any'

を使っているのに対し、私たちは「any'」という言葉を使っています。

along with these words like anybody, anyone, anywhere

この言葉とともに、誰でも、誰でも、どこでも、この言葉のように

it negative sentences. Now let's learn some more about these words

それは否定的な文章です。では、これらの単語についてもう少し勉強してみましょう。

Okay, So, here's another rule

では、もう一つのルールを紹介します

for using the word 'some'

と言う言葉を使うことに対して

So, we do use the word 'Some' and of course

だから、私たちは「一部」という言葉を使いますし、もちろん

words like somebody, somewhere, something

どっかの言葉

to ask a question and specifically when we

質問をするときには、具体的には

we want to offer something or when we are

何かを提供したい時や

requesting for something, okay, that's when we use

おねがいします。

the words some, somebody, something

何かの言葉

somewhere okay, for example :

どこかで

Would you like something to eat. Say, you have guests at home

何か食べたい？家にお客さんがいると言って

and you wanna offer them something to eat

食べるものを提供したいのか

so, would you like something to eat? or would you like to have some more tea?

何か食べますか？ それともお茶でも飲みますか？

would you like to have some more juice? okay, so this is the way you are

もっとジュースを飲みたい？

offering something, right? So to offer

お供え物でしょ？だから、提供するために

something you would always end up using the word

決まっていること

'some' or words like 'something', 'somebody'

何となく

'someone' okay, then another one

誰かはいいとして、もう一人

over here - this is when you are asking or requesting for something

此方へ

Could I have some milk , please? okay you're out of milk

牛乳をくれないか？

and you want to make some coffee for yourself

自分のためにコーヒーを淹れたい

So, you go to your neighbor's house and you say - Okay,

お隣さんの家に行って「わかった」と言うんですね。

you know I'm out of milk, So could I have some milk, please?

牛乳が切れたから 牛乳をくれないか？

So, you are asking for something, you're requesting for something.

つまり、何かを求めているということは、何かを要求しているということです。

So, again you end up using the word 'Some'

だから、またしても「いくつか」という言葉を使うことになってしまう。

okay, now another rule for using the word 'Any'

さてさて、もう一つのルールは「Any」という言葉を使うことです。

and of course along with that words like

といった言葉と一緒に

anything, anybody, anywhere

なんでもかんでも

So, you use these words when... with the meaning, when it doesn't matter

だから、この言葉を使うのは...意味があって、どうでもいい時に使うんですね。

okay, it's used in a positive way

いいように使われている

that's the difference you know, well! we learned that

そこが違うんだよ！

the word 'any' is always used in negative sentences

否定文には「何でも」がつく

but again it's English

然し乍ら英語

so when you are trying to tell someone something

と言うと

in a positive way but the meaning

肯定的な意味ではありますが、意味

of that sentences is that it doesn't matter

その文章はどうでもいいということです

okay, it doesn't matter that is when you end up using words

まあいいや、そんなことはどうでもいいんだよ、言葉を使ってしまうと

like any, anybody, anything, anywhere

誰にでも、誰にでも、どこにでも

to understand this better let's look at the examples here -

これをよりよく理解するために、ここで例を見てみましょう。

Which book shall I read ? okay, someone asks you

どの本を読もうかな？

why don't you go through my library? and just pick up a book

私の図書館に行って 本を拾ってきてくれないか？

whatever you want to read. So, your friend would ask a

読みたいものをということは、お友達が

hey! which book shall I read? So, Well!

ねえ どの本読もうかなだからさあ！

Anyone it's up to you. So, when you end up saying -

誰でもいい......それはあなた次第です。だから、あなたが言い終わったときに

Anyone, it means - It doesn't matter

誰でもいいんだよ

Okay, So you are being positive here but you also using the word

あなたは肯定的だけど、この言葉を使ったのは

anyone, but it doesn't matter

誰が何と言おうと構わない

in relation to that meaning you are using this , right?

あなたがこれを使用しているその意味に関連して、右？

So, that's the correct way to say it. Another one

ということで、それが正しい言い方ですね。もう一つの

Let's go somewhere, where shall we go?

どこかに行こう、どこに行こうか？

Anywhere, I just want to chill, So, again here you are saying

どこでもいいから、冷静になりたいんだよ。

anywhere because it doesn't matter to you, you just want to step out, you just wanna have

どこにいても構わないから、ただ外に出たい、出たいだけなんだ。

a good time, you just wanna chill so, it doesn't matter

楽しければいい、冷やせばいい、そんなことはどうでもいい

so that's exactly the reason why you end up using the word

という言葉を使ってしまうのは、まさにそのためです。

'anywhere' okay, so you use these words when

"どこでも "でいいから、この言葉を使うのは

with the meaning that it doesn't matter, got it? Now let's have a look at another rule

という意味で、「どうでもいい」という意味ですね。 では、別のルールを見てみましょう。

Okay, So here is another point that you need to keep in mind when you're

さて、ここでもう一つのポイントは、あなたが心に留めておく必要があるということです。

learning these words

訓語

Now, words like somebody, someone

さて、誰かのような言葉、誰かのような

Anybody, Anyone, well! these are singular words

誰でも、誰でも、まあ！これらは単数の単語です。

however, we do use words like them

しかし、そのような言葉を使うこともあります。

they, their after we use these words

彼ら、彼らの後に私たちはこれらの言葉を使用しています。

Okay, so to understand this, let's look at the example

さて、これを理解するために、例を見てみましょう。

Someone has forgotten their phone - Now, you would say....

誰かが携帯電話を忘れてきた - 今、あなたは言うでしょう。

Well! you just mentioned - Someone is a singular word, right?

えーと、さっき言ってましたが、「Someone」は単数形の単語ですよね。

then why have you ended up using the word 'their'

なのにどうして「彼ら」という言葉を使っているのか

So let me explain this to you, Now probably you are

だから、これを説明させてください。

in a classroom, okay, and....

教室で、いいですよ、と。

the class is of 20 kids and out of these

クラスには20人の子供がいて、そのうちの1人が

20 kids, Well! this phone belongs to

20人の子供たち、この電話は私のものです。

one kid, right? and you don't know who he or she is

一人だけ子供がいて、誰だかわからないんでしょ？

right? so, when you end up saying someone

そうだよね、だから結局誰かに言われても

okay, so you know that the phone belongs to one person that's why you are saying

電話は一人の人間のものだと 分かっているのか？

someone

誰か

has forgotten their phone. So,

は携帯電話を忘れてしまいました。だから

the word 'their' Well! this word is used to talk about the whole group

彼らの」という言葉 まあ、この言葉はグループ全体のことを言うために使われています。

okay and that's why we have ended up using this

それでこれを使うことになったのですが

word right? well let's look at the second sentence

では二文目を見てみましょう。

so that you get this better - If anyone is interested to participate

誰もが参加することに興味を持っている場合 - あなたはこれをより良い取得するように

in the competition, they can contact the front desk.

競争の中では、彼らはフロントに連絡することができます。

so again if anyone, okay

だからもし誰でもいいから

well probably there's a competition and you know that there are several people

競い合って何人もの人がいることを知っているだろう

out there who would like to participate

参加希望者

but you don't know specifically who that person would be

誰かわからないのに

So, you end up using the word 'anyone'

だから、結局は「誰でも」という言葉を使うことになる。

in the competition, they can contact the front desk

So, the word 'they', well! this is used to talk about

ということで、「彼ら」という言葉、まあ！これは、「彼ら」について話すときに使われています。

the whole bunch of people

一斉に

whoever wants to participate in the competition, okay

参加したい人は誰でもいいよ

so the whole bunch of people that you are talking to, right? and that's why you

ということは、その人たちと話しているのは全体の束なんですよね？ と、いうことで

end up using these

使ってしまう

plural words with the singular words like somebody, someone

誰か、誰かのような単数形の言葉と複数形の言葉

anybody or anyone okay, This brings me

誰でもいい、誰でもいい、これが私を連れてきた

to the end of this lesson, just a quick review for you
