Now, we’re going to continue with that by turning the left foot close change.
What we’re going to do is to turn one quarter for every bar of music.
I’ll demonstrate. And 1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 6 1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 6. Now, what’s happening here
Well, first of all, I’m going to do the man step
and ask Wendy to step aside, so we are just going to do this
We’re turning left one quarter. The steps don’t change
still the left foot close change, forward – side – close
back – side – close. But we’re turning the body gently on every
step, so we’re going to turn
1, 2, 3 We’re going to turn again
1, 2, 3 Turn one quarter left
1, 2, 3 and one quarter left 1, 2, 3
Four one quarter turn makes a complete turn. Now, I ask Wendy to come in to do the lady’s
step. You’ll notice that she’s going to turn
herself the same way. She starts the back first
and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
When we come together, it’s very important everybody understands
that we’re not pushing and pulling. We’re dancing our own steps,
moving ourselves using small steps. So, if I just open my hands you can see
that we’re not using each other for balance or for power.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
We’re turning on our own. Now we do that with proper dance hold.
And 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
It’s important to know that the man will signal
the turn simply by turning his body in one piece
he’s not going to stick his foot out he’s not going to push
none of that will work He’s simply turn. When he does it,
the lady will feel it and she’ll turn herself. For example, if I do not want to turn,
I just want to do the box by itself without turning,
I do this. As you can see,
I turn my body without telling Wendy and Wendy instinctively turn herself.
OK?! Now, we’re going to do it one more time with music before we move on.
The idea of the basic Beginner’s Waltz is to teach you how to turn LEFT call the
Reverse Turn using the left foot box
and to teach you to turn RIGHT which is called, The Natural Turn
and we have to use the right foot box to do that.
And the idea is to connect the left foot turning with the right foot turning basic and then
to teach you how to move around the room with
that.
