I hope this will be a stepping stone into learning more about Black culture. Everyone ready? Let's begin. Today's word is: vibe. Now, this word is not used as much as it used to be used before in the past. Vibe is kind of an old school word we used back in the day, but, you know, you still can use it. You know, it's not used as often as it used to be. But, vibe just simple means a good feeling about something, something good. But, it also can mean a bad vibe, which means a bad feeling about something. So, you can use it in both situations. So, to give you a little better understanding of it, we're gonna drop you off at the conversational situations. Yo! Kid, I'm getting a bad vibe up in here, maybe we should go? I feel ya, summin' ain't right.... Lets bounce! Kid, I love hanging out at dis place! The Vibe is hittin'!!! I know, man. This spot is banging!!! You get it? You got it? Well, let's go ahead and clear up those little cobwebs in your head. First example, my boy is saying, "Hey man, yo. I got a bad vibe up in here," meaning he got a bad feeling about something, something ain't right. "Something ain't good up in here. We should just go." And his friend said, "Yeah, yeah. I feel the same. I feel that. Yeah, something ain't right. Something is just not right. Let's go. Let's go. Just let's get out of here." Simple. Example number two, Boy is up in another party, but this one is a good situation. He said, "Yo, kid. I love hanging at this place. This place is awesome. The vibe is hittin'," meaning it feels good. He friend said, "I know! I love this spot, because it is banging." It feels good. You get it? You got it? Awesome. Until next time, I'll hit you up with more Ebonics. I am out. Peace.
