Now, we're going to go over five different realistic situations based on how much time you may have to spend learning English in a day.

では、1日にどれくらいの時間を英語学習に費やす必要があるのか、5つの現実的なシチュエーションを紹介しよう。

If you have 30 minutes per day to learn English, if you have one hour per day to learn English, if you have two to four hours per day to learn English, if you have five to seven hours, and if you have eight or more hours per day to learn the English language.

英語を学ぶ時間が1日30分か、1日1時間か、1日2～4時間か、1日5～7時間か、1日8時間以上か。

Now, when I say per day, I'm talking about literally every single day.

1日あたりというのは、文字通り毎日ということだ。

That means seven days a week, 30 or 31 days per month, or 365 days per year.

つまり、週に7日、月に30日か31日、1年に365日ということになる。

When it comes to becoming fluent in English, you cannot treat this like it is a job.

英語が流暢に話せるようになるためには、これを仕事のように扱ってはいけない。

You need to treat this like it is a part of your lifestyle.

自分のライフスタイルの一部のように扱う必要がある。

You really need to incorporate it into your everyday life.

本当に日常生活に取り入れる必要がある。

First, if you only have about 30 minutes per day to learn English, I would spend all 30 of these minutes consuming English videos with English subtitles.

まず、1日に30分しか英語を学ぶ時間がないのであれば、その30分をすべて英語字幕付きの英語のビデオに費やすことだ。

For 30 minutes a day, this is the most efficient way I could think of to learn English as you'd be practicing almost all of your skills just by using an English video.

1日30分、この方法が英語を学ぶ最も効率的な方法だと思う。なぜなら、英語のビデオを使うことで、ほぼすべてのスキルを同時に練習できるからだ。

You would be improving your vocabulary as you are reading the subtitles and associating imagery and visuals with the words that you're reading and learning.

You would be practicing your reading skills as you're reading the English subtitles.

You would be practicing your listening skills as you're reading the subtitles, as you're listening to the words being pronounced by native English speakers.

英語のビデオの字幕を読みながら、ネイティブスピーカーによって発音される言葉を聞くことで、リスニングスキルを練習することができる。

And you can even practice your speaking when listening to these English videos with subtitles if you use the shadowing technique and you simply repeat after what you're hearing as you're consuming the English video with the English subtitles.

また、シャドーイングのテクニックを使えば、字幕付きの英語ビデオを聴きながら、その内容をリピートするだけで、スピーキングの練習にもなる。

Unfortunately, this doesn't give you a lot of opportunity to really improve your English grammar skills and your English writing, typing, or texting skills.

残念なことに、これでは英文法のスキルや英作文、タイピング、テキストのスキルを本当に向上させる機会はあまりない。

However, if I only had 30 minutes per day, I would still focus on the skills that are the most fundamental to being able to become fluent and speak fluently in the English language.

Now, with one hour per day, I would literally do the same exercise, except I would add another element to it.

I would record them using a flashcard application, such as Anki or Quizlet.

I would simply record all of the expressions, slang terms, phrases, verbs, and words that I did not understand, and then I would practice them as well with whatever time I have left.

Now, with the previous scenarios of 30 minutes to an hour per day, I would say it would probably take you maybe two years or a little bit longer before you become a comfortable and fluent English speaker.

However, if you have two to four hours per day, you could probably become conversational or fluent in English between one to two years, in my opinion.

Now, with four hours of time, you would have a lot of flexibility.

Here's what I would do.

I would spend one hour listening to English media with English subtitles, and I would use the shadowing technique.

I would spend the next hour recording and practicing English vocabulary words with a flashcard application, such as Anki or Quizlet.

In the third hour, I would practice writing out and expressing my thoughts about the video that I just watched.

3時間目には、観たばかりのビデオについて自分の考えを書き出し、表現する練習をする。

First, I would take the notes application on my phone and type out my opinion.

まず、携帯のメモアプリで自分の意見を打ち出す。

Next, I would actually read out loud my opinion and train my mouth to speak and express things in the English language.

次に、自分の意見を実際に声に出して読み、英語で物事を話し、表現する口を訓練する。

And then in the final hour, I would actually use an English tutor, preferably who is a native English speaker.

そして最後の1時間は、できればネイティブスピーカーの英語チューターを使う。

I would speak to them about literally anything and then get feedback on where I'm currently at with my level of speaking.

By doing those activities four hours per day, you can absolutely make progress on every single skill in the English language, whether it be grammar with the English tutor, vocabulary, speaking, listening and reading, as we discussed prior, and then also even writing and typing and texting as you're expressing your thoughts and opinions after watching an English video.

1日4時間このような活動をすることで、英語の家庭教師との文法、語彙、スピーキング、リスニング、リーディング、そして先に説明したように、英語のビデオを見て自分の考えや意見を表現するライティングやタイピング、テキスト作成など、英語のあらゆるスキルを絶対に上達させることができる。

If you did this consistently for four hours per day, every single day, I think you can definitely see huge amounts of progress in the span of one to two years time.

これを1日4時間、毎日コンスタントに続ければ、1～2年後には間違いなく大きな進歩が見られると思う。

Now for the fourth scenario, how to learn English if you had five to seven hours per day.

さて、4つ目のシナリオは、1日に5時間から7時間あったとしたら、どうやって英語を学ぶか、というものだ。

Now in this scenario, I would simply just increase the amount of time that I was doing the previous activities.

このシナリオでは、私は単純に以前の活動の時間を増やすだけだ。

So for example, if I had seven hours per day, in the first two hours of the day, I would spend it listening to English media, ideally in the form of an English video with English subtitles.

例えば、1日7時間あるとして、最初の2時間は英語のメディアを聴くことに費やす。理想では英語字幕がついた形式で。

I would also be practicing the shadowing technique as I'm consuming the English video.

英語のビデオを見ながら、シャドーイングの練習もする。

During the next two hours, I would record all of the expressions and terms that I did not understand, and I would practice them with a flashcard application such as Anki or Quizlet.

それから2時間の間、理解できなかった表現や用語をすべて記録し、AnkiやQuizletなどのフラッシュカードアプリケーションで練習した。

In the next two hours, I would form my opinion and thoughts about the video or videos that I previously watched.

I would practice expressing myself and expressing and forming my opinions through typing and texting, and then through speaking.

And then in the final and seventh hour, I would speak to a real native English speaker, whether that means using an English tutor or just another person in my network, and I would get feedback after speaking with them or having a real conversation with them for around an hour.

Now if you were to spend seven hours per day consistently learning the English language, I'm fairly confident that you'd be able to become pretty much fluent in the English language in more or less around a year.

今、もしあなたが1日7時間コンスタントに英語を学ぶとしたら、1年前後でかなり流暢に英語を話せるようになると私は確信している。

Now with the final scenario, how to learn English with eight or more hours per day.

さて、最後のシナリオは、1日8時間以上で英語を学ぶ方法である。

I would honestly use the same methodology except I would spend a lot more time doing one of the four activities that I previously mentioned.

First, I would spend two hours consuming English videos while using the shadowing technique.

Then I would spend the next three hours practicing my writing and speaking by forming and expressing my opinions about various things such as the videos that I just consumed or really anything else that might be on my mind.

And for the final hour, I would go speak with a native English speaker or a native English speaking tutor and get feedback based on my current level of English.

That's how I'd learn English if I had eight hours or more per day.

1日に8時間以上あれば、そうやって英語を学ぶだろう。

And honestly, if you did this consistently for eight plus hours per day, you can very well become fluent in English or at least reach the B2 level of English in less than one year for sure.

正直なところ、これを1日8時間以上コンスタントに続ければ、1年以内に英語がペラペラになるか、少なくともB2レベルには確実に到達できるだろう。

If you could actually afford to spend eight hours per day doing this, there is no reason why you should not be able to become fluent in English in much less than a year.

1日8時間、このようなことに費やす余裕があるのなら、1年もかからずに英語がペラペラにならないわけがない。

I've seen people even do it in a matter of six months if they had this much time to dedicate towards doing it every single day.

毎日、これだけの時間を割いていれば、半年で達成できる人だっている。

So keep all of this in mind.

だから、これらすべてを心に留めておいてほしい。

And also just note that if you're doing 15 minutes of Duolingo per day, you're not going to become fluent in English in three months.

また、1日15分のDuolingoをやっていても、3ヶ月で英語がペラペラになるわけではないことにも注意してほしい。

It is completely unrealistic to expect such a thing.

そんなことを期待するのはまったく非現実的だ。

For the people who are very busy, and you can really only spend around 30 minutes to an hour per day, unfortunately, it may take you about one to two years to learn the English language.

とても忙しく、1日30分から1時間程度しか時間が取れない人にとっては、残念ながら英語を習得するのに1年から2年程度かかるかもしれない。

That is normal.

それが普通だ。

So please do not get discouraged if you do not become fluent after practicing consistently for about one or two months.

ですから、1〜2ヶ月間、コンスタントに練習しても流暢に話せなくても、がっかりしないで。
