So today I'm going to show you the things that I really like about my japanese apartment.

そこで今日は、私が日本のアパートで本当に気に入っているものを紹介します。

So it's kind of like an apartment to her, but I'm just going to kind of show you the highlights of the things that I really like about my apartment that I live in and how grateful I am for.

彼女にとってはアパートのようなものですが、ここでは私が住んでいるアパートで本当に気に入っていることや、どれだけ感謝しているかをハイライトで紹介したいと思います。

It's a very unusual apartment.

とても珍しいアパートです。

A lot of people don't get apartments like this, but we're also keep in mind, we're also on the outskirts of Tokyo, were not actually directly in the middle of the city, so any where that's on the outskirts of Tokyo is probably gonna be cheaper than on the inside of Tokyo, if that makes sense.

多くの人はこのようなアパートを手に入れることはできませんが、私たちは東京の郊外にいることも念頭に置いています。実際には東京の真ん中にいるわけではないので、東京の郊外にある場所は、東京の内側よりもおそらく安くなるでしょう。

Some of you guys are probably going to ask how much this apartment actually is And our rent is 1300 and it's actually 1200, but we pay 100 this is in dollars $100 extra for maintenance because you usually have maintenance, maintenance fees wherever I went.

家賃は1300円で、実際には1200円なのですが、維持費として100ドルを追加で支払っています。

Um I had maintenance fees and that's not including utilities and all that stuff, but The rent is actually about 1200 dollars.

Um This is our apartment, it's like a designer apartment by designer.

Um これは私たちのアパートで、デザイナーによるデザイナーズアパートのようなものです。

It's, it's a very unique structure, like we have our stairs, this is the best thing ever because most apartments don't have um stairs, they don't go upstairs.

非常にユニークな構造をしていて、例えば階段があるのですが、これは最高のことです。

So it's very much like a house and that's why we chose this because we have an upstairs where all the bedrooms are and then we have our living room and our kitchen down here.

2階に寝室があり、ここにリビングとキッチンがあるので、家と同じような感覚で使えるのが魅力です。

So this is really nice.

I feel like I'm in my home.

It's not like this one room place where we can hear everything.

This is very rare.

Like you don't find this anywhere.

And the thing is all the apartments that are in this complex are a little bit different.

The apartments below us don't have stairs.

I think, I think each apartment is different.

I look actually took a peek inside our neighbor's house and it looks very different like the flooring and everything looks different.

We have wood floor for our apartment and that's what I wanted in my apartment.

That was one thing that I really wanted was good flooring because I think the one next door is a very marble e gross orange.

And I was like, you know please.

So this is the, one of the number one things I really like about my apartment.

So in japan they have, they measure rooms by tatami mat.

So this room, this whole room, our kitchen, our living room, our kitchen on this side is 12 Joel which is 12 tatami mat, square tatami mats.

Oh my gosh, so it's a little different when you're measuring things but this is really big for an apartment and we have a kitchen and this is the living room.

I guess this is supposed to be our dining area, right?

But you can turn it into a living slash dining and that's what we did.

So nothing really matches right now because I screwed up on the table.

I love my co Tatsu even though it doesn't match anything, I love my contacts.

Uh, so this is where we eat dinner in Japan taxes are very popular.

Um Obviously we don't have the little cloth that goes over it, but in the winter you can put a cloth underneath this part, it's like a little blanket to put over your legs when we're eating.

Um but this is our dining table and this is what most Japanese apartments have and I always wanted one, but I got the wrong color even though this is a very beautiful color, like this is very beautiful, but we still love this one and it's a good size too, but you plug it in and then it heats up underneath in the winter and then in the summer you don't use it, you just use it as a regular table.

これは私たちが使っているダイニングテーブルで、日本のアパートにはたいていこれが置いてあり、私もずっと欲しかったのですが、色を間違えてしまいました。これはとても美しい色なのですが、私たちはまだこれを気に入っていて、サイズもちょうどいいのですが、プラグを差し込むと冬は下が温まり、夏は使わずに普通のテーブルとして使います。

So we eat all of our dinners and our food's here.

I love it.

It just makes me feel like I'm in Japan and yeah, I've always wanted one and I never had one in my past apartments.

日本にいるような気分になるし、そう、ずっと欲しかったんだけど、過去のアパートにはなかったんだよね。

So this is another thing that I'm so grateful for, especially in the winter, it's like the best thing ever.

だからこれも、特に冬場は最高にありがたいことなんですよね。

Everyone needs a kotaku in their apartment.

誰もが自分のアパートにkotakuを必要としています。

So the other thing that I really like is obviously r air conditioner because most departments well now they're starting to do it.

もう一つ、私が気に入っているのは、Rエアコンです。

But a lot of apartments have air conditioners and some don't lifesaver especially now it's like in degrees Fahrenheit it's like almost 100 degrees outside and Celsius, it's like 37 or something.

しかし、多くのアパートにはエアコンが付いていますし、付いていないアパートもあります。特に今は、華氏では100度近く、摂氏では37度くらいの気温です。

さてさて、とても暑いですね。

So I'm really grateful for the fact that we have two air conditioners, one here and one upstairs, one is in the other room but it's broken so we're not using that room.

Yeah this is a dream, this is a refrigerator but most apartments cannot fit this large of a refrigerator.

This refrigerator is like big for any kind of apartment.

この冷蔵庫は、どんなアパートにも合う大きさです。

A lot of japanese apartments you cannot fit A refrigerator this large.

日本のマンションの多くは、このサイズの冷蔵庫を置くことができません。

So we have 3 um freeze, we have two freezer vegetables and drinks and my alcohol two freezers, two freezers.

冷凍庫が3つ、野菜と飲み物の冷凍庫が2つ、お酒の冷凍庫が2つ、2つあります。

If you want to know what we have in here, I have no idea what we have in here.

ここに何があるのか知りたいなら、私は何も知らない。

We have like sausage from new these mothers, some vegetables, brussels sprout, so it's you know all of these autos, autos Yugi has some porcini, I can't speak and then this is our second freezer, we have some frozen right blueberries and bag film music puts his film camera, film and fix here if anybody wants to know this is our refrigerator, it's probably really messy right now.

新生児の母親が作ったソーセージ、野菜、ブリュッセルスプラウトなどがありますが、これらはすべて自動で作られています。

We have like vegetables and chicken and all this stuff.

野菜や鶏肉など、いろいろなものがあります。

So this is a dream refrigerator.

だから、これは夢のような冷蔵庫です。

It's very hard to get this if you're moving to Japan by yourself or if you're like in the military you get like houses and stuff like that.

日本に一人で移住する場合や、軍隊に所属していて家などを手に入れる場合には、これを手に入れるのは非常に困難です。

So that's pretty nice.

Okay, this is my kitchen, this did not come with the apartment, this whole counter.

We actually bought this separate, this is an island, They actually had a wooden one but it wasn't available I think at the time but this one didn't come with the apartment but I needed a counter, I needed like an island in the middle of the kitchen and I'm so glad we did it because he was like and then I got it and he's like oh my God, this is the best thing ever.

本当は木製のものもあったのですが、当時は入手できなかったので、これはアパートには付いていませんでしたが、カウンターが必要だったので、キッチンの真ん中に島のようなものが必要でした。

So now I can cut things and I can cook things and we got this at night or which is a Japanese furniture store.

So if you come to Japan that's like the cheapest Furniture store that you can go to next week.

So this, we got at me Tony, I think it was like $300.

I think this was the most expensive furniture regard.

This is the kitchen and this is pretty large for a kitchen actually, apartment kitchen.

これがキッチンで、アパートのキッチンにしてはかなり大きいです。

Um this is this space is usually non existent in Japanese apartments, usually just have the sink and then you have your stove but here we have a little counter space but we use it to put our dishes on obviously and then dry our dishes, we have two burners which is enough.

日本のアパートでは、このようなスペースはほとんどありません。通常は、シンクとコンロがあるだけですが、ここでは少しのカウンタースペースがありますが、食器を置いたり、食器を乾かしたりするのに使っています。

I would rather have three.

むしろ3つあるといいですね。

But you know that's my americanness coming out.

I need three burners but we also have what I love about our apartment is our fish grill.

So this is a fish grill, this is an old one, obviously this apartment is used but yeah I cook fish and you can grill things in it.

これは魚焼きグリルです。これは古いもので、明らかにこのアパートは使われていますが、私は魚を料理しますし、これで何かを焼くこともできます。

Most japanese apartments have this um some japanese apartments don't even have like the fish grill and the stove you have to buy it separate but we're lucky and it's already in our apartment so I needed that for sure but we have lots of storage in this place which is amazing because a lot of my apartments didn't have as much storage except for my first department in Nagoya but this one has like cupboards up here, cupboards down here, I won't show you inside because it's not the most the cleanest.

ほとんどの日本のアパートにはこのようなものがあります......日本のアパートの中には魚焼きグリルやコンロがないところもあり、その場合は別々に購入しなければなりませんが、私たちは幸運で、すでにアパートにあるので、確かに必要でした。

The weird thing that I didn't like about this apartment was the toilet next to the kitchen, like it just was really awkward and weird.

このアパートで気に入らなかったのは、キッチンの隣にトイレがあることでした。

This is our bathroom.

これが私たちのバスルームです。

Mhm mm so if you come inside this is the toilet but it's really awkward because it's right next to the kitchen, so that's the only thing I didn't like about it but there's always gonna be one thing that you don't like it about about an apartment.

中に入るとここがトイレなのですが、キッチンのすぐ隣にあるのでとても不便です。それが唯一気に入らなかった点ですが、アパートには必ず気に入らない点があるものです。

Everything else was fine.

それ以外はすべて順調でした。

I checked off on my list.

私は自分のリストにチェックを入れました。

But yeah we have storage up here which is awesome.

でも、ここにはストレージがあるから最高だよ。

All of our toilet paper and girly things and stuff so yeah this is our bathroom so that's the only awkward thing but I'm very grateful for the fact that I have a bathroom.

トイレットペーパーやガーリーなものなど、ここが私たちのバスルームなので、唯一不便な点はありますが、バスルームがあることにとても感謝しています。

If you're wondering what this door is here this leads to the gang con area which is the foyer.

このドアが何なのか気になる方は、このドアはホワイエであるギャングコンエリアにつながっています。

This is our gang con area are boxes just came for furniture so there's kind of full but usually put your shoes over here.

You don't wear shoes in the house which is normal in japan.

家の中で靴を履かないのは、日本では当たり前のことです。

And then we have our shoebox which I love.

そして、私が大好きなシューボックスもあります。

You can't see it now but inside this cupboard is all of our shoes thank freaking God we have a big shoe box so we can't even still fit our all of our shoes.

今は見えませんが、この戸棚の中には私たちの靴が全部入っています。ありがたいことに、私たちには大きな靴箱があるので、まだ全部の靴は入りません。

Is working from home.

So that's why there's his computer over here and all of his books and his work stuff because in the office upstairs we don't have air conditioning.

We get to watch movies and netflix and everything on there.

We have three balconies which is very unheard of in an apartment.

We have one balcony here but we need to clean it up because obviously it's getting kind of gross but we don't, we never really go outside.

It's so hot, it's humid outside.

But this is one of our balconies.

We just got new curtains.

So these are all skills, but this is our bathroom.

This is pretty normal vanity, which is sometimes hard to find in Japan.

これはごく普通のバニティで、日本ではなかなか手に入らないものだったりします。

I love the fact that I can pull this out and use clean this and use this.

So that's nice.

This vanity is like everything.

I love this big sink, we don't have a counter, but that's okay.

I still use my washing machine is my counter.

We just got this separately.

This didn't come with the apartment, we actually had to buy this to make shelving space and then this is our bath room and on the outside we have we can control the air the venting here and then we can dry our clothes.

So this button dries the clothes.

So I am so grateful for the fact that we have an apartment that can dry clothes.

The rainy season.

Yeah, in the rainy season you don't want to put it outside so you want to dry your clothes.

Just turn this on.

This is our shower room is so humid in here because there's actually the windows open and that's how you bent everything because in Japan things get super moldy like super fast and dusty.

ここは私たちのシャワールームですが、窓を開けているので湿度が高く、日本では物がすぐにカビてしまいますし、ホコリも多いので、このようにして全てを防いでいます。

So we try to bend things as much as possible as we keep the window open right?

だから、窓を開けたまま、できるだけ物事を曲げるようにしています。

So this is our control panel for the the bathtub so you can fill the water by itself and it stays hot if you want it to stay hot and it talks so if you want to turn on the bath it says the water is going to go in and then there's gonna be water that comes out of this little a slot in just a few seconds.

これはバスタブのコントロールパネルで、自分で水を入れることができ、熱さを保ちたい場合は熱さを保つことができます。

See and then it fills up, this is not inside.

見てください、そしてそれが満たされます、これは内部ではありません。

So it's gonna tell me that it's open.

But yeah and then you can control the temperature and everything for the shower and then when you open this this is for the bath so you can put more water in, you can lower the water, you can heat it up, you can do whatever you want to take a nice relaxing bath and this is one of my favorite things in my apartment because I never had that before.

これを開くと、お風呂用になっていて、水の量を増やしたり、水位を下げたり、温めたり、好きなようにして、リラックスしてお風呂に入ることができます。

This is our bathtub.

これが私たちのバスタブです。

Usually japanese bathtubs are super deep, which is nice because it feels kind of like you're in a hot spring and then they always come with this things to put on top to keep the water warm.

通常、日本のバスタブは非常に深く、まるで温泉に入っているような感覚になるのでいいですね。

So it's not uh it doesn't get cold.

だから......寒くないわけではない。

So you can save the water for other people because when you take a bath you can use the same water.

So people rinse themselves off with the shower hose and you can move this up here if you want or put this down here, you rinse yourself off, you wash your body and then you get in the bath.

So a lot of american people tend to like not shower and just take a bath.

そのため、アメリカ人の多くは、シャワーを浴びずにお風呂に入ることを好む傾向があります。

So whenever I say that two people can use water, they think like oh that's dirty but you're cleaning yourself before you get in, right?

So that's one of the best things about this apartment is this bathroom and usually a bathroom is like one whole room, like this is just one room for the bath and the shower and you just shower off here.

このアパートの良いところは、このバスルームです。通常、バスルームは1つの部屋のようなものですが、ここはバスタブとシャワーのための1つの部屋で、ここでシャワーを浴びることができます。

So a lot of people come to japan and they're like oh should I show we're here because it's a room, it's not like a small little shower spaces.

So yeah, that's our bathroom.

So we have our second balcony here which is nice.
