When we use the present simple tense, we normally use it to talk about facts or to talk about habits or routines.

That means 'Do you think he understood me?' in the past because I changed 'get' to 'got'.

答えは、「彼は（過去に）私の言った事を分かってくれただろうか？」という意味になります。それは「get」を「got」に変えたからですね。

So this is a really really good phrase to use to ask someone do they understand you.
