So a couple videos back, on my Mt. Takao autumn leaves video

少し前、高尾山の紅葉のビデオで

A couple of you guys noticed that in one of the scenes

何人かが気づいたと思うけど

there's a Japanese sentence and at the end I wrote a "w"

日本語の文の最後に「w」が付いてたね

I got several comments asking what that "w" meant

この「w」のことでいつか質問があって、

from people saying that they've seen it on the internet before

以前「w」をインターネット上で見たことがあるとかね

Yes, this is probably the most important Japanese internet slang that you can learn

そう！「w」は最も重要な日本語のインターネット用語かも

So if you remember anything from this video, make sure it's this one

だから、以前の動画で何か用語を覚えていれば、今から紹介する用語です

You will see it all the time and it's very useful

「w」は至る所で、たくさん使われています

Basically the "w" means lol in English

「w」は英語の「lol」と一緒

It's just laughing

笑っているってことだね

In Japanese laugh is "warau" It looks like this

日本語でlaughのことを「笑う」っていいます

If you write that in English it is "warau"

ローマ字で書くと「warau」

So they shorten that to just the "w"

「warau」を短くしたのが「w」

So it's really easy to type

だから、打つのが簡単

If you wanna laugh a lot you can just put lots of Ws!

大笑いを表現するには、「w」を沢山打つだけ！

You'll see this all the time on Twitter, YouTube, FB, everywhere

ツイッター、YouTube、フェイスブックなどでよく見かけます

I definitely recommend using it, it will make your Japanese look very natural

だから、ぜひ「w」を使ってみて！すごく自然な日本語にみえるから

Another Japanese slang that you might see a lot on Twitter is "nau"

「なう」もツイッターなどでよく見かけるスラングだね

This is just the English word "now"

意味は英語の「now」と一緒

For example "karaoke nau" means "I'm at Karaoke right now!"

例えば、「カラオケなう」。「今、カラオケにいます！」って意味

So when you are doing something right at the moment, and you post a status

今やっていることを伝えたいときに

you can write "nau" at the end

文章の最後に「なう」を付ける

You'll see that a lot on the internet

この表現はよくインターネットで目にします

It's not proper Japanese

正しい日本語じゃないけど

But it's used a lot on Twitter and such

SNSなどで頻繁に使われます

Those are really the only 2 Japanese internet slang that I see a lot

今、紹介した２つの単語はとてもよく見かけるインターネット用語だね

that are very common and everyone knows them

とても流行っていて誰もが意味を知っています

But there are lots of other Japanese internet slang

だけど、他にも沢山インターネット用語があって

that are used in places like NicoNico or 2ch

ニコニコや２ちゃんねるでよく使われています

which is a Japanese internet forum

これらは掲示板みたいなものかな

I was in Akihabara the other day and I found these internet slang cookies

先日、秋葉原に行って、インターネット用語クッキーを見つけたの

So I thought it would be fun to open these up and check them out

面白そうだから、早速開けて見ましょー

and see if we can learn some Japanese internet slang together

なにか新しいインターネット用語を学べるかな

So you can see there are a few on the front here like kwsk, wktk...

パッケージに「kwsk」「wktk」などが書かれているね

These are ones that I don't know

どんな意味なんだろう

There's the wwww the lol

ここに「wwww」（英語ではlol）があるね

Maybe that one's like "sumimasen"? I dunno

これは「すいません」って意味かな？

Let's open up the cookies together and see what they are

とにかく、一緒に開けて見てみましょー

You can get these in Akihabara at Animate, I think I got them at

このお菓子は秋葉原のアニメイトだったかな？そこで買えるよ

They make a cute souvenir

可愛いお土産がある所ね

They're so adorable

すごく可愛いクッキーだね

They have the little emoji cats on them

小さな猫の絵文字が描かれてる！

That's awesome

最高！

Ok the first internet slang cookie is this kanji

まず、この用語は漢字で書かれているね

This is read "otsu"

この漢字は「おつ」と読みます

According to the internet slang guide that comes with the cookies

お菓子についてきたインターネット用語解説によれば、

It's otsukaresama, so a short way of saying otsukaresama

意味は「お疲れ様」、短くした呼び方だね

This is not the kanji for otsukaresama, the actual kanji is this:

「乙」はおつかれさまの漢字ではないよ。正確には、

But because this kanji is pronounced the same way

「お疲れ様」。だけど、同じ発音だから

Some people may use this for otsukaresama

時々、お疲れ様のことを「乙」って使うね

Which means "Good job!" or "Thank you for your hard work!"

意味は「お仕事ご苦労様」、「一生懸命働いてくれてありがとう」ってことだね

People say it once you've finished doing some kind of task, or work or school or something

何か仕事をやり遂げた後や学校の後などに言います

The next cookie is orz

次のクッキーは「orz」

I bet you've seen this one before

みんなどこかで見たことあると思うけど

Is this really just a Japanese thing?

これって日本語の用語なのかな？

I swear I had seen this somewhere else before coming to Japan

絶対日本へ来る前にどこかで見たことある

The three characters orz are supposed to look like a guy hunched over on the ground

３つの文字を組み合わせて、地面に前屈みで倒れている人を表現したもの

You use this when you are disappointed or tired

ガッカリした時や疲れた時などに使います

Whenever you would be like hunched over on the ground

なにか地面に倒れこみたい時に使う用語です

I did not know that was a Japanese one, interesting

日本語用語だって知らなかった

I've been curious to find out what this wktk one is

この用語の意味をさっきから知りたかった

I've seen this on the internet before, but not too much

インターネット上で見たことあるけど、頻繁には見ないかな

So it's probably more on websites like 2ch and stuff that I don't go on very much

私があまり使わない２ちゃんねるなどで使う用語かな

Let's figure out what this means because it's really bothering me

どんな意味か気になるからチェックしましょう

wktk is short for wakuwaku tekateka

「wktk」は「わくわくてかてか」の省略

Which means you're really excited

意味はワクワクしているってことだって

Waku waku is like "waku waku shiteru" "I'm really excited!"

「ワクワク」はとて楽しみで心が落ち着かないって意味

Teka teka means like shiny, so I guess you're so excited that you're shiny?

「てかてか」はキラキラってことかな？楽しみにしすぎてキラキラしちゃうってこと？

So I guess you use wktk when you're really excited about something

だから、期待に胸をふくらませる時に使うね用語ね

Interesting...

面白いわね・・・

Another one I have been curious about is kwsk, I have no clue what this one is

「kwsk」もさっきから気になっている用語、どんな意味かさっぱり

Omg, this one means kuwashiku it's short for kuwashiku

えー、意味は「詳しく」の省略だって

Which means like "in detail"

意味は「in detail＝詳しく」だね

So when you want somebody to explain something more in detail you can say kwsk

だから、何か具体的に説明してもらいたい時に、使う単語だね

That's really cool, I didn't know that

いいね、知らなかった

There are a couple in this booklet here that I didn't get the cookies for

他に今回ゲットできなかったクッキーがあって

that I want to explain to you guys

それを今から説明します

because I've seen these ones used quite a bit on Youtube and such

Youtubeなどでよく見かけるからね

This one right here: riajyuu

その用語は「リア充」です

Ria is short for "real" and jyuu is short for "jyuujitsu"

「リア充」の「リア」はリアルの省略、「充」は充実の省略

"Riaru" which is like "real" or "real life"

「リアル」は現実って意味や、実生活って意味

And jyuujitsu is kinda like "fulfilled" yeah that's probably a good way to say it

「充実」は満足しているって意味かな

So it's people with a real life that's very fulfilled and happy

だから、とても現実に満足している人に対しての用語だね

You refer to those people as "riajyuu"

そういう人たちを「リア充」って呼びます

You'll often see people referring to happy couple as "riajyuu" and stuff like that

例えば、円満なカップルなどに使うね

Other ones that I have seen before are this one

他に、私が見たことがあるのは

That's a character for "u" and "p"

「う」と「p」を組み合わせた用語です

So when you're typing on a Japanese keyboard, say you wanna type the character for "ka"

日本語のキーボートで文字を打つとして、「か」という文字を打ちたければ

You will type "k - a"

「k」と「a」を打ちます

After you type the "a" it will transform into the "ka" character

そして「a」を打つと、「か」という文字に変わります

But until then the "k" will stay as alphabet

でも、「a」を打たなければ「k」はアルファベットのままです

So to get these you need to type "u - p"

だから、「うp」だと「u」と「p」を打つことになります

Because "p" isn't a Japanese character, it just stays like that as the alphabet

「p」は日本語の文字でではないため、アルファベットのまま止まります

So you get this after you type "up"

だから、日本語で「up」を打つと「うp」となります

So this just means "up"

意味は「上げる」

And this one down here means "ok"

下の用語は「ok」という意味

So this "up" you will often see when people are referring to YouTubers

この用語はユーチューバーに対して使われます

Like "up otsukaresama"

例えば「うp　お疲れ様」、

"Good job on uploading your video!"

「動画アップロードお疲れ様です！」など

So this "up" will mean "upload"

だから、「うp」は「アップロード」という意味ですね

So yeah you'll see that one on Twitter sometimes

この用語はツイッターなどでも見かけます
