This is amazing. It's an amazing show. Everybody is very happy today. Yes. And I'm very happy that you're back and safe here. You just literally got back into your house. You were evacuated. I did, as many of us around the country are experiencing. And thank God. I am in my house thanks to our amazing firefighters, not only in California but all over. [APPLAUSE] Yep. This is a life story now. We're dealing with climate change. So may we all support each other and be in community. And thanks to them. They were extraordinary. Your house is OK? You're good? Everything's good. And you're back in it. Yeah. And Halloween was happening. How did you-- did you enjoy Halloween anyway? Halloween was happening. It was-- it was pretty fun. It was very entertaining, actually. Yeah? I never had to dress up because other people kind of did it and entertained me without me having to dress up in anything. But people dressed as you. This is what I learned. Yeah. People dress as all the characters in Big Little Lies, so people were you and all the characters, really. Which is incredible. It is one of my favorite things getting to work with this amazing group of women. Groups of women and men gathered on Halloween to find their own community and dress as all of us together-- Right. --which is amazing. You're on the cover of Town & Country. There's a quote from Big Little Lies. Your character says, "I will not not be rich." Yes. That character is so fun. I love that character so much. I do have to say, it is odd to me in the good fortune of playing a lot of interesting characters that it would be Renata that is, in fact, most relatable to many people. I've never had so many people come up and quote that line. And they don't quote it saying, hey, I just want to say, when you said this one line, I love that line. They come up, often even like sort of screaming in my face, I will not not be rich. I'm like, OK, I guess we've all tapped into something together that we want to claim. Yeah. But I do think it's part of-- I think what I loved certainly about Renata and people connected to is she will say everything she feels. And there is something delicious about getting to sort of live that out. Yeah, for sure. And every character you're playing now-- by the way, I mean, going back to Blue Velvet-- I mean, Kanye West is wearing you on his shirt. Yes. You've played some iconic characters that people relate to. Yes. That is amazing for a whole other reason. Yeah. [APPLAUSE] And this is thanks to the amazing designer, Raf Simons, who paid homage to David Lynch in his work. But what he didn't know is he actually gave me a tiny bit of cred in my household of teenagers, and I'm really grateful. I bet. In fact, if any rapper comes on this show and you want to just hand them a shirt with my face on it, I'd really appreciate it-- OK. --because it's really working for me, guys. Every mother should somehow get this opportunity when their kids are 15. OK. Name the rappers and I'll send them some shirts. OK. I like it. Who do you kids like? Who are they into? Well, Rocky, I mean. But I-- Rocky? A$AP Rocky. Oh, A$AP Rocky. [CHEERING] We're expecting a shirt soon from him. OK. All right. You can work on that. OK, good. Kendrick could wear a shirt. I mean, I'm not-- I'm not-- You wouldn't be mad if Kendrick Lamar-- No. I wouldn't be mad. We'll just-- It is a David Lynch homage. I'm not saying it. But there is a slight self-serving aspect to this-- Sure. I understand. --because I'm just not yelled at all the way to school. Yeah. There's a break in it. It sounds horrible to have children. I mean, it really does. It's interesting. It sounds horrible because-- No, it's God's gift, Ellen. --what do you have to be to be a cool mom? You're Laura Dern. And, I mean, how cool is this that you're going to be in Jurassic Park again? They're remaking-- [APPLAUSE] That's cool. Yeah, it's cool. I mean, I needed this. I'm appreciative of you guys feeling it's cool. It's going to be amazing. I'm very excited to see dinosaurs yet again. Yes. But really, everything you're doing. So Marriage Story, we showed a little bit of that, which is really, really good. And you're so good in it. Did you just win an award or something? I did very generously. Yeah, congratulations. And people are loving it. Yeah. Yeah, it's been amazing. Film written and directed by Noah Baumbach. And it's really a love story that deals with divorce. I don't know how he did it, but he did it beautifully. And I then, of course, play the divorce attorney who changes the course of their path. You seem like somebody that I know. That divorce attorney seems familiar. Was there-- Might be. Might be. There were a few very inspiring divorce lawyers who were very generous and let us mine their experience and their business. But it is a very fractured business. And people can lose their kids' college education very quickly instead of just trying to figure it out themselves. Yeah. It really is interesting because you just see this couple that-- without giving too much away, that want to just work it out between themselves. And then it just gets so nasty and just so-- it just breaks your heart because these two people didn't paint each other like that. No. And they love their kid, and you find yourself rooting for each of them and sort of despising them even at moments. It's just beautifully narrated by Noah. And Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson play the couple, and they're amazing, the whole cast. It's great. It's great. And now we'll take a break, and then we'll talk about another movie, Little Women, that you're also in that's getting Oscar buzz. And it's fantastic. I'm so excited. I'm so happy for you. We'll be back.
