hey everyone Jennifer from tarle speech today I have your pronunciation question
three words and a BOGO a buy one get one free
the words are West the direction waist the middle of your body and waste to be
care less about conserving resources two words are pronounced exactly the same
thank goodness and so let's go ahead and jump right in so the words here the
difference is going to be the vowel so the beginning of the word W the W
sound pucker your lips for that W and the air just keeps coming out of your mouth
and the ending for these two words we're going to say S T S T so to say that s T
combination you're going to say that s sound and keep that air moving out of
your mouth to make the S sound your tongue does not touch your teeth to stop
that air for the T sound touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top
front teeth ST ST ST
okay now let's tackle the vowels for West West Eh EH EH
my mouth is going to be slightly open and my mouth is going to be relaxed and
stable and static it's not going to move for that vowel EH EH EH I call this kind of
the smirking sound because it's not really an E where I'm smiling but your
lips are kind of pulled to the side a little bit
the difference from this vowel and a is that for the a my mouth is going to move
from wide open to a smile a so we have at the short e and a that movement vowel
that's long so EH A let's put it all together West West West waste waste
waste
west waste west waste when we were heading west we did not waste a lot of
food so my waste got bigger give it a try
