日本の中部エリアにあるリニモ沿線を自転車で周ります。

To get there, we're taking a super smooth ride

さあ、まずはリニモに乗らないと！

the magnetic, levitating train called Linimo

走行はとても静かでスムーズです。

and checking out a few stops along the way.

今回はリニモ沿線で体験できることや

リニモ沿線を自転車で旅します。

around Aichi, in the heart of Japan.

これから切符を買って、いよいよ出発しますよ。

I'm going to go buy my ticket and then we'll get started.

ここへは名古屋駅から走っている地下鉄東山線の藤が丘行きの電車で来ることができます。

To get here you start at Nagoya station,

レッツゴー！

then take the Subway Higashiyama Line to Fujigaoka St.

杁ヶ池公園駅に着きました。

OK, let's go!

早速サイクルジョイへ行ってみましょう。

We made it to Irigaike Koen Station.

自転車レンタルは日本でも結構よく見かけますが、

We're first going to check out Cycle Joy.

サイクルジョイではなんと無料で貸してくれます。

Bike rentals are pretty popular across Japan,

簡単な申込書に記入すれば１日自転車を借りることができるんですよ。

but at Cycle Joy you can rent them for FREE.

申込書は英語にも対応しています。

You just need to fill out a brief application, available in English,

地元のラーメン店にやって来ました

to rent a bike for the day.

ここのラーメンは、とてもユニークな組み合わせのラーメンを食べることができるんですよ。

We made it to the first place. It's a local ramen shop,

私はチーズとカレーと豆乳の担々麺にしました。

but it has a very special flair to everything its serving up.

ランチセットではサイドメニューが一つ付けられるので、

I got the cheese, curry, soy milk, tan-tan men.

イタリアンTKGを選びました。

The lunch set also comes with a special side

あと揚げ餃子も！みんな大好きでしょ?!

so I got Italian TKG.

いただきま~す!

And then there's deep fried gyoza! Who doesn't like that?

う~ん

I'm going in!

この担々麺美味しい。

Mmmmmm!

熱さもちょうどいいし、チーズもいい感じ。バランスが良くて美味しいです！

That's a good tantan-men!

うちは豚骨ラーメンが推しで、

Good heat, good cheese, good balance, good eats!

お客さんが狼で、豚骨…豚を食べに来るっていうストーリーで、

Our main ramen is Tonkotsu (Pork-bone) based.

お店のコンセプトとしてやっています。

So It's kind a like the fable , but you are the wolf.

なるほどですね。

This is the concept of this restaurant.

ラグビーの選手がいたりとか、

A-ha, I see.

留学生も多い街なんで、留学生もいっぱい来てくれて…

A lot of rugby players come to eat here

今度は岩崎城へやって来ました。

and this town has a lot of study abroad students,

自転車を使えばここへもこの周辺のエリアにも

so we get a lot of students, too.

リニモの駅からそんなに遠く感じません。

Welcome to the grounds of Iwasaki castle!

今教えてもらったのですが、このお城は

If you use a bike like we did you can get pretty close to it off the Linimo,

ここに岩崎城があったことを示す建物だそうです。

and from the surrounding areas as well.

ここは数々の戦いや城主交代を巡る様々な出来事の舞台となったにもかかわらず、

We just learned about the history of this castle

海外では全く知られていないんです。

that starts in the early 16th century,

日本には大河ドラマと呼ばれる歴史ドラマがあるんですが、

there were so many battles and stories about how the castle was turned over between different families

このお城にまつわる話はおそらく扱われたことがないんだと思います。

but none of that really known outside of Japan.

でも、岩崎城にはその場で自分の目で見るべきその壮大な歴史が存在します。

In Japan there are these things called TAIGA dramas which is like historical dramas,

自転車があったおかげで今日それが実現できて良かったです。

and apparently this castle has been skipped over,

次に、この地域にはおしゃれなカフェが多いことを知った私は

but Iwasaki castle has a huge history that you have to come here to see here yourself.

立ち寄ってみることに決めました。

Thanks to the bike we were able to do that today.

美味しいコーヒーとフルラインナップのバー、

Next up, I read there are a bunch of trendy cafes in the area

そしておしゃれなデザートも楽しめるそうですよ。

and decided to check one out along the way.

サイクリングのご褒美になりますね。

They have delicious coffee and a full bar,

みんなも食べてみたい?チョコレートボンボン、

but they also have some cool desserts,

美味しそう！

so I'm getting a little treat after all that bike riding.

甘すぎなくて、すごい好きな味。

It's like caramel swirly nougat stuff.

次の駅に着きました。愛・地球博記念公園です。

My otsukare-bon bon. This is so good!

ここは愛知万博の開催場所でした。

It's not overly sweet, I really like that.

この辺ではここが一番規模が大きい観光スポットです。

Ahh. A proper cup of coffee!

今日はここでサイクリングしようと思います。

We made it to the next station, Ai-chikyuhaku Kinen Koen.

ところで皆さん、ジブリは好きですか？

Also it's the home of Aichi Expo Park.

もしそうなら後でお楽しみが待ってますよ。

This is one of the hugest and widest attractions.

このエリアはピクニックやゆっくり過ごすのに人気のスポットです。

We're going to be cycling here today, but also,

ここで自転車を借りるチケットが買えます。

There's a little treat in for you today.

で、ここでチケットを渡します。

This whole area is loved by people around here for picnicking and hanging out.

自転車コースを約2キロ進んだところに、

We made it to the first checkpoint

映画「となりのトトロ」に出てくる家が隠れてるんですよ。

About two kilometers into the bike course

春に来てもとてもきれいだと思いますが、

There's the pond over there, too. You can actually go in and do tours.

この秋の紅葉…赤と黄色に色づいた木々に青い空…

Welcome to the heavens!

愛・地球博記念公園はとても広々としているので、

You can see the entire bike course from up here!

家族連れでもデートでも楽しめる場所です。ピクニックをしても良いし、

I bet you it's beautiful in the Spring too, but these Fall colors?

特にサイクリングは私のお気に入り！ ここからは本当に遠くまで良く見渡せます！

The reds and the yellows and blue sky…

リニモの終着駅は

Aichi Expo Park is a huge space where families can come play,

八草駅。

it's a great date spot, you can go on picnics

そこから愛知環状鉄道に乗り換えて、豊田スタジアムでラグビーワールドカップ2019を観戦することもできるし、

and the CYCLING is by far my favorite! You can really see far out from here!

名古屋に戻ることもできます。

If you ride the Linimo train to the last stop,

今回リニモ沿線で訪れたのは数か所だけですが

you'll arrive at Yakusa station.

From there you can transfer to the Aichi Loop Line and catch a soccer game
