"Choose Life" was a well-meaning slogan from a 1980's anti-drug campaign.

「人生を選べ」ってのは、80 年代のドラッグ追放キャンペーンで使われた良い意味を持ったスローガンなんだよ。

And we used to add things to it.

それで、そこにいくつかの言葉を付け足していったわけ。
