とうもありがとう 皆さまこんにちは

This is such a great pleasure for me to be here

ここ京都で皆さんに会い ここに参加できて

and to meet you here in Kyoto.

大変うれしく思います

I am the i-Violiner Ji-Hae Park.

私は i (アイ)バイオリナーの ジヘ・パクです

I can see everybody is wondering what this word means.

皆さん「i バイオリナーってなに」 という顔をしていますね

That word is invented by me.

これは私の造語です

"i" means like in iPhone or iPad

「i」は iPhone やiPad のように

something new, creative, innovative,

何か新しいこと 創造的で革新的なこと 多機能なことや

multi-functional, entertaining and customer-friendly.

お客さんに身近な エンターテインメントを表しています

Now, the "violiner" part:

さて 「バイオリナー」の部分ですが

usually a person who plays the violin is called a violinist,

バイオリンを弾く人を 一般的にはバイオリニストと呼びますが

but with that word I wanted to express my wish

私はこの造語で私の願いを 表現したいと思いました

to not only play a musical instrument

私は単に楽器を弾きたいだけでなく

but hopefully share my music and my life and my message

願わくば楽器をツールとして 私の音楽を 私の人生を 私のメッセージを

through this instrument as a tool.

共有したいという願いです

Me personally, I have put in every ounce of my energy into the violin

個人的なことですが 私はいつか有名な バイオリニストになりたくて 全てのエネルギーを

to become a successful violinist one day.

余すことなくバイオリンに注いできました

In that process, I missed out many things but also gained a lot.

その過程で逃してきた経験は数知れませんが 多くのことを学びました

One of the losses is that I lost my gratitude and happiness.

失ったものの一つが 感謝の気持ちと幸福です

I suffered from severe depression, and I hated the violin,

私は重度のうつ病に呵まれて バイオリンを嫌いになりました

which made my life so deeply distressed.

このことが私の人生を さらにひどく辛いものにしました

This severe depression made me totally dejected

この重度の鬱病のために 私は完全に意気消沈し

and even think of death.

死ぬことさえ考えました

However, I never imagined that this time of suffering could be my turning point.

しかし この苦しい時期がターニングポイントになるとは 思ってもいませんでした

This time became to me an opportunity

苦難の中で 音楽が 私の魂を再生してくれるという経験をしました

to experience how the music restored my soul in the midst of hardship.

苦しい時期が この経験をする好機になったのです

And now, I am standing in front of you

そして今 皆さんの前に立っています

and I'm trying to use this violin as my tool to share this amazing power

私は このバイオリンを媒体として この素晴らしいパワーを

with anyone who has a heart to listen.

聴いてくれる方々に 届けてられるように努めています

I'm desparately trying my best to remove any prejudice

クラシックのバイオリニストが演奏すべきと 考えられている場所や楽曲

of where and what piece a classical violinist should play.

これに対する固定概念を取り払うことに 懸命に取り組んでいます

Like the piece I just played,

今演奏した曲も その取り組みです

it was originally Vivaldi's Spring but in one and only version in the world

この曲の原曲はヴィヴァルディ『春』ですが 世界で唯一の編曲版です

from the "Baroque in Rock" album by Universal Music.

ユニバーサルミュージックのアルバム 『バロック・イン・ロック』の収録曲です

It was a new way of combining 300-year-old Baroque classical music

この方法は300年以上の歴史を持つバロック音楽と 力が湧くロックサウンドを融合するもので

with the energetic sound of rock to maximize the impact

原曲のインパクトを

of the original piece.

最大限に引き出しています

But I am still a classical violinist.

でも 私は依然として クラシックのバイオリニストです

Just in case you get confused after this rock in music,

ロックを織り交ぜたからといって 誤解しないでください

I am just tyring my best to fuilfill

私はただ全力で

the functions of what the i-Violiner should have.

「i バイオリナー」の役割を 果たそうとしているだけです

To the end, I'd like to dedicate a classical piece to you.

最後になりますが 皆さんには クラシックの楽曲をお聞き頂きたいと思います

It starts like a lament, full of grief and sorrow

この楽曲は 嘆き そして悲痛と悲観といった 悲しげな旋律で始まります

but after reaching its darkest point,

しかし 最も暗い 闇に到達したあとは

it changes to be so happy, bright, powerful and bursting with energy.

情熱的で輝き 力強くそしてエネルギーが あふれ出す旋律へと様相を変えていきます

Like this music, I sincerely wish and hope

この音楽のように いかなる問題や困難を経験することになっても

that you will recognize whatever troubles and hard times you may be going through,

そこでの経験がきっかけとなり 皆さんの新しい人生につながる多くのドアが

it will now actually open many doors to your new life.

開かれるということを知って頂きたいと 真摯に思います

Let me introduce you, finally,
