I'd like to share a couple with you today.

My first app was a unique fortune teller called Earth Fortune

that would display different colors of earth

depending on what your fortune was.

My favorite and most successful app is

Bustin Jieber, which is — (Laughter) —

I created it because a lot of people at school

ジャスティン・ビーバーを使った モグラたたきゲームです

disliked Justin Bieber a little bit,

このゲームを作ったのは ジャスティン・ビーバーのことを

so I decided to make the app.

あんまり好きじゃない人が 学校にたくさんいたので

So I went to work programming it,

いいかもと思ったからです

and I released it just before the holidays in 2010.

それでプログラミングに 取りかかり

A lot of people ask me, how did I make these?

2010年のクリスマス前に 公開しました

A lot of times it's because the person who asked

「どうやって作ったの？」と いろんな人から聞かれました

the question wants to make an app also.

聞いた人の多くは 自分でもアプリを

A lot of kids these days like to play games,

作りたいと 思っていました

but now they want to make them,

最近の子どもの多くは ゲームで遊ぶだけでなく

and it's difficult,

自分でもゲームを 作りたいと思っています

because not many kids know where to go

でも それが難しいのは

to find out how to make a program.

どこへ行けばプログラムの 作り方が分かるのか

I mean, for soccer, you could go to a soccer team.

知らないからです

For violin, you could get lessons for a violin.

サッカーを学びたければ サッカーチームに入ればいいし

But what if you want to make an app?

バイオリンを学びたければ レッスンを受ければいいですが

And their parents, the kid's parents might have done

アプリの作り方を学びたい人は どうすればいいのか？

some of these things when they were young,

親は サッカーやバイオリンなら

but not many parents have written apps. (Laughter)

若い頃にしたことがあるかも しれませんが

Where do you go to find out how to make an app?

アプリを作ったことのある親なんて あんまりいないでしょう (笑)

Well, this is how I approached it. This is what I did.

アプリの作り方は どこへ行けば 分かるのでしょう？

First of all, I've been programming in multiple

僕の場合は こんな風にしました

other programming languages to get the basics down,

まずいろんな プログラミング言語で

such as Python, C, Java, etc.

プログラミングをして 基礎を覚えました

And then Apple released the iPhone,

Pythonや Cや Java なんかをやりました

and with it, the iPhone software development kit,

それからAppleが iPhoneを発売して

and the software development kit is a suite of tools

それには iPhoneソフトウェア 開発キットがありました

for creating and programming an iPhone app.

ソフトウェア開発キット というのは

This opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me,

iPhoneアプリを作るための ツール集です

and after playing with the software development kit

これは僕にまったく新しい可能性を 開いてくれました

a little bit, I made a couple apps, I made some test apps.

ソフトウェア開発キットで いろいろ試した後

One of them happened to be Earth Fortune, and I was

ready to put Earth Fortune on the App Store,

and so I persuaded my parents to pay the 99 dollar fee

to be able to put my apps on the App Store.

They agreed, and now I have apps on the App Store.

I've gotten a lot of interest and encouragement

賛成してもらえたので 自分のアプリを App Storeに登録することができました

from my family, friends, teachers

いろんな人が 励ましてくれました

and even people at the Apple Store,

両親 友達 先生

and that's been a huge help to me.

それにアップルストアの 人たちまで

I've gotten a lot of inspiration from Steve Jobs,

すごく助けられました

and I've started an app club at school, and a teacher

スティーブ・ジョブズには ものすごく刺激を受けました

at my school is kindly sponsoring my app club.

学校でアプリクラブを作って

Any student at my school can come and

ある先生が顧問を 引き受けてくれました

learn how to design an app.

うちの学校の生徒なら 誰でもクラブに来て

This is so I can share my experiences with others.

アプリのデザイン方法を 学ぶことができます

There's these programs called the iPad Pilot Program,

and some districts have them.

I'm fortunate enough to be part of one.

A big challenge is, how should the iPads be used,

and what apps should we put on the iPads?

難しいのが何かというと iPadはどのように使われるのか

So we're getting feedback from teachers at the school

どんなアプリをiPadに入れるべきか ということです

to see what kind of apps they'd like.

それでどんな アプリがほしいか

When we design the app and we sell it,

it will be free to local districts and other districts

作ったアプリは

that we sell to, all the money from that will go into

the local ed foundations.

These days, students usually know a little bit more

so this is a resource to teachers, and educators

I'd like to finish up by saying what I'd like to do in the future.

First of all, I'd like to create more apps, more games.

今後やりたいことを話して 終わりにしようと思います

I'm working with a third party company to make an app.

まず もっといろんなアプリや ゲームを作りたいです

I'd like to get into Android programming and development,

今は ある会社といっしょに アプリを作っています

and I'd like to continue my app club,

アンドロイドのプログラミングも やりたいと思っています

and find other ways for students

そしてアプリクラブを続けて
