  • it's Good Friday — a day millions all around the world celebrate and remember.

  • I love the Sakura blossoms. They are a sign of hope like nothing else I know.

  • And a super special part of living in Japan is seeing these come out every Spring.

  • I'm going to Shyogako (Elementary school)

  • So it was very interesting to see how they did the whole ceremony.

  • We were spaced quite far apart, which was really good,

  • So they did the ceremony, and they did it much faster than normal.

  • A special friday: Good Friday.

    今日は特別な日です

  • You may have heard of it before,

    "聖金曜日" "グッド・フライデー"です

  • But it's a day that Christians all around the world celebrate as they remember Jesus' death on the cross.

    ご存じでしょうか?

  • Now this whole weekendGood Friday starts it and then Sunday is Resurrection Sunday.

    私達クリスチャンが イエス・キリストの十字架の死を覚え

  • Easter Sunday, which you've probably heard as well.

    復活の日曜日を祝うまで 祈る日です

  • And sometimes you'll see chocolates or Easter bunnies, that sort of thing.

    そして日曜日は "イースター"です

  • But the real meaning and purpose behind this whole weekend has to do with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

    チョコやイースター・バニーで お祝いします

  • This single event has changed history more than perhaps anything else, expect for maybe the creation of the world.

    でも本当の意味は イエス・キリストの死と復活にあります

  • Sowhat is so great about Good Friday?

    この出来事は天地創造以来の歴史を 大きく変えました

  • It's kind of funny, if you think about it, because it's the day that the Lord Jesus died,

    "グッド・フライデー" その凄さは何でしょうか?

  • but we call it "Good" Friday. Why would we call it Good Friday?

    ちょっと面白いですね イエス様が死んだ日なのに

  • It's kind of like this season we're living in right now.

    なぜ”グッド"なのでしょうか?

  • With everything that's happening in the world, it hardly seems like good times, in fact they are very bad times right now.

    今の状況に 似ているかもしれません

  • People losing their jobs. People in depression or locked into different ways and habits.

    世界で起きているコロナ渦は 大変な困難です

  • You know, I've read about domestic violence that's happening as people are together,

    失業や外出自粛など 生活の変化が余儀なくされています

  • they can't handle the pressure of being locked inside their homes and that sort of thing.

    報道によれば 家庭内暴力が増加しています

  • Somebody asked me, "Why are you so happy all the time?"

    長期間の外出制限による ストレスは困難な問題です

  • "Why do you have so much hope? How do I get that?"

    "なぜいつも楽しそうなの?" と聞かれることがあります

  • And the real answer is because of Good Friday.

    "なぜ希望に溢れているのか?" "どうすればそうなれるのか?"

  • It's because of what Jesus did on the cross. And it's because of Resurrection Sunday.

    ”グッド・フライデー”に 答えがあります

  • When He rose again, triumphant over sin, over death, over disease.

    イエス様の十字架の死と 復活の日曜日が答えです

  • The reason we have so much hope is because our hope is not in the economy,

    イエス様の復活は 罪や死に対する勝利を意味します

  • Our hope is not in the school system,

    私の希望は お金や経済にはありません

  • Our hope is not in our bank account,

    学校や教育にもありません

  • Our hope is not even in our own health.

    銀行に蓄えられるものでもありません

  • But our hope is in Jesus Christ, and our hope is in God, that He has an eternal home planned for us.

    健康も絶対ではありません

  • This kind of joy: when you have Jesus,

    永遠の人生を与えてくれる イエス・キリストと神様に希望があります

  • When you have His love in you, when you believe in Him and you've received His love, it changes everything.

    イエス様から出てくる喜び

  • And it can make even the worst times...

    イエス様にある愛を信じ受け取る時 全てが大きく変わります

  • You can have peace and you can prosper even in difficult times.

    困難な時にあっても

  • What is going on here? We're having a picnic in the balcony.

    平安を感じることが 出来るようになります
