In this video, I will tell you a bit more about how I got a job in the U.

S.

With old of easing details despite being an immigrant.

As a lot of you know, I was born and raised in Valerie's on when I was in Belarus.

I wouldn't say I've always wanted to live in the States, but I definitely would say that I never really saw myself staying and working there.

I really wanted to go study somewhere abroad, to explore the world and just kind of get different perspectives, be in a different language environment.

And so, as a result, I ended up going to a university in Canada University Quarter.

For that, I obviously had to go through all the hurdles, have taken English exams.

It sounds related to the subject, etcetera, etcetera.

And then when I finally got accepted and then decided to actually go to university in Canada, we say I had to go through the use of hurdles.

So So I ended up getting a student visa and it wasn't very complicated.

I just had to get all the regular set of documents that is listed on Canadian sees you upset.

Funny thing, though, is that I got my student visa a day before my flight to Canada to study in university.

It was really, really stressful for my hair, and my mom was stressing out so much.

And finally, when I got that he's a thank you for my actual flight to Canada.

Everyone was just so happy in room.

In the end of the day, it's completely out of your control, so you can really influence the visa process much.

So, as I said, the process of getting a visa to study in Canada was fairly straightforward and simple.

I didn't have any complications.

Car and wave, my favorite drink of choice.

So, yeah, get in the visa to study in a Canadian.

Corsetti was hard, and I got the visa for all of the five years.

And then when I was in university who actually did cops, which means we did internships at actual companies and for that as an international student.

If I was interning at in Canada, I actually needed a separate working permit.

So when I got the Canadian student visa, the working permit wasn't there.

But the university was super helpful, facilitated and get in that work permits.

So it was quite a breeze.

Also currently waiting for Coltrane.

Coltrane is a train died runs through South Bay up to the city and vice versa.

So going from mountain View to San Francisco?

So then I did two internships with my Canadian visa in Canada with my Canadian department, actually And yeah, it wasn't hard to get it.

It was really And then, on my third year of university, I actually went to Germany on exchange.

So I had to get a German student visa, which also was not really a big problem.

That's where the U.

S.

Comes into place.

I did my third internship, a soft drink here in San Francisco.

So their visas for a little more complicated my banks is getting quite.

This is basically about scythe.

So then I went to the United States for an internship for the first time, and that's how my visa journey with us starts.

If you're comin to the US on an internship like I did for the first time, you usually tend to get the G one type of Visa J one visa is a trainee visa, which means that you go to the United States to train a certain skill on, then ideally come back to the country where you came from from with back newly developed knowledge that you got in the United States and to get the G one visa usually have to have a company sponsor you for that visa.

Because my first internship was young.

They were very familiar with the whole J one process.

And they put me in touch with the third party company that helped them out in getting those Jesus.

So because they brought in a ton of entrance before me, the process was fairly straightforward.

I had to collect a bunch of documents and then that whole thing happens over the course of two or three months on.

Then after you get a certain approval notice, you go to the U.

S.

Consulates Website and actually book an interview at the consulate.

And during that interview is when you actually know whether you were a proof or not for that type of visa.

So then I scheduled my interview and all of that was happening in Germany because I was still there on exchange, and I went to the U.

S.

Consulate with all the documents that the lawyers have prepared for me on.

I got approved for the visa and I didn't chewing friendships there, So my visa was eight months long.

I just discovered that Amazon now has a physical book stories, and it's my favorite place on Earth.

It's such a great book store.

All the books have the rating on them as well as price, and all of them are actually run, covered, facing, which honestly makes such a huge difference.

It's such a great experience to come into the bookstore and then see the cover of the books right away so that you can feel if you want to read a book or not, as opposed to feeling like you need to take it out on, actually read what it's about.

It's just it seems like such a simple change, but trust me makes the experience so much better.

By the way, this book is freaking bomb.

I just read it, and it was the most fascinating read of all times.

The second time around, when I came to the US again for an internship.

I was also common on the J one visa because again I was a training and infringe on that was with Airbnb in the process was also very straight forward because again the company has done it before.

I have done the process before.

So both of the parties were familiar with how to facilitate this visa situation when I was a graduate and I decided that I'm going to go back to the States to work here full time.

And that's where again I had to be involved in deciding what kind of visa journals I will have to go through here in the States when people come here for work, usually get an H one b type of visa which is still intense visa, which means that if you want to immigrate to the States, you can worries.

For instance, J wanna Trini Visa has no nonimmigrant intent, which means that you cannot potentially transferred the gay one status to bring Cabot with H one B is that you have to apply for an H one babies in April on at the time of a vacation, you have to have all your documents ready and you have to have your I didn't.

I have a computer science minor and I have to stay in university force.

And that's for longer.

Which meant that I was graduated in August instead of May.

However, there is something that you can do in that scenario.

You officially by law, are allowed to go on a train in the U.

S.

Even if you're not currently studying and J one visa can go up until 12 months.

So basically what me and my company decided to do is we decided Thio apply for the J one visa for 12 months so that while home J J one Visa haven't already graduated and I have my diploma, I would be able Thio apply for the H one year the next year round Got the J one music for 12 months again The intent of life where the h one b visa the max following April So haven't already been working at the company for about I guess, two months.

It's black Friday, by the way.

So this is the perfect time to do some talking.

Another big, big, big cabin with H one B is that even if you were completely illegible.

Even if all your documents look great on, you should be getting a visa.

BZ is actually a water.

What that means is that if you only have a bachelor's degree, you actually only have about a 30% chance of getting that visa.

I made a comment about having a bachelors degree because actually, when you have a master's degree or PhD, your chances are slightly higher.

I'm not exactly sure what your tenses are because I didn't go through that classes.

I went through the regular full of people with the off higher.

I was actually very worried because, basically, if I wouldn't have gotten the J one visa, I would have to figure out how else I can stay in the country.

I received my notice in about July, and what happens afterwards is you have to leave the country and again schedule an interview at the US Consulate, and you can do it at 1/3 party country so you don't actually have to be in your home country to do that.

So I decided to schedule my interview in Spain.

I decided to kill two birds with one stone go there on vacation and go through my visa interview, and something unexpected actually happens.

I am now on my way to check out, away and away is a suitcase company or rather, actually their travel company.

They don't just make suitcase now, and everyone has been love and love and love in their suitcase.

I want to see whether it's worth buying.

It actually really nice.

The wheels roll so easily, I'm excited to buy it.

When I went to my interview in Madrid, I basically have been given my passport back and have been told that my case is put under administrative classes in administrative processing means that they want to review your documents further.

It's not really a complicated procedure, and there is nothing to be really worried about.

But worrisome part with administrative processing is that they actually don't know how long it's gonna take.

Was just kind of stuck there without knowing it was very stressful, however, in about five weeks, actually was in Belgium at the time because I decided, okay, I'm already and you might as well go visit my high school friend in Belgium.

So what?

I was in Belgium.

I received this email from the consulate saying that your case has been approved.

We send your passport, the first flight back to Spain.

I fly in.

I said my passport.

And then I had to wait for about a week to get my password.

Basically, with my visa approval in total, it was about six weeks instead of two that I expected to be there.

And obviously it was a stressful time.

However, I was extremely, extremely happy that everything ended well.

And then as soon as I got my passport, I booked my flight to go back to the States.

I was pretty done with being on vacation in Spain.

This is a super cute 20th style here in San Francisco.

I just got a So then I got back to the U.

S.

With the newly minted H one B visa, which is again a work visa.

They usually give it to you for three years with the ability to extend it.

So right now I'm on this visa and I'm happy that I don't have to go through Visa hurdles again anytime.

How I was going through all the visa documents and hurdles to get here to the U.

S.

And something that you can learn from my case is that whenever you interview with a company here, I would really make sure that they actually can support you throwed whatever immigration things that you have to go through, that they can sponsor you, that they will be there to guide you through the process.

Because, you know, there is a lot of cases one you have not been vocal about, you haven't You got a visa where they haven't asked you.

And then you've already gone through all the interview process, and then hopefully you got three offer and then bam!

In the end, it turns out that they will not sponsor you.

And essentially, all that time was completely wasted.

And you just can't go work for the company because they're not willing to go ahead and put you through all the immigration process with them.

So it would make sure that you're as transparent as possible with whatever needs you have, because again, if you don't ask and the company doesn't ask you that there is nothing you can do.
