- [Taylor] Oh hi Vogue, I'm Taylor.
I'm getting ready for the Tom Ford Fall/Winter 2020 Show
so why don't you come on in and join me?
Follow me this way.
Come on Tate.
[upbeat music]
I love Tom Ford so much.
He makes such beautiful clothing that you feel
comfortable and confident and sexy in.
Every collection is so different
and all of the celebrities that I grew up seeing
wearing Tom Ford are all so different from each other
and all have their own individual different styles
within his brand.
And that's a very hard thing to accomplish as a designer,
so I'm just really excited to see it and to wear it.
Duh.
My makeup look for tonight
is gonna be a little more of a '70s reference.
The outfit that I'm wearing,
I have a velvet suit jacket
with a kind of an olive green silk trouser pant.
It has like, no shirt under and a metal scarf situation.
So it's sexy but it's also a little bit more masculine.
I thought it would be fun
to kind of play with that timeframe and that era
and do something a little undone and cool
but still like a '70s flair and influence.
This is Kelsey, she is my hair and makeup artist tonight,
and dog lover.
Just like what we say,
everybody has to love dogs that comes into my space
and if you don't, I don't trust you.
I don't.
- [Kelsey] Our love affair started recently.
- [Taylor] Yes, we're fresh. We're new lovers.
- [Kelsey] Mainly over our love of the Denver Broncos.
- Go Broncos!
We clicked, we just kind of do our thing,
we sit here and I'm like, "I can take a nap honestly",
and you're just like, "okay do it"!
I love sitting in hair and makeup.
When I was younger I didn't like it as much.
The joke was that you can hear Taylor before you see her.
Which I will walk in at six o'clock in the morning
so ready and so excited.
- You're a morning person?
- You are a morning person when you're 17
walking for Ralph Lauren or you know,
Alexander McQueen. You just wake up ready to go.
Like, I can't believe I'm here,
I'm at Alexander McQeen, let's do this. [laugh]
And everyone's like Taylor has arrived, I can hear her.
The running joke in my family especially with my dad,
is that Taylor has always been a 72 year old man.
Don't even get me started on TikTok.
I open the app and it's like threw up in my face
all this stuff coming at me real quick.
First of all, what?
- [laughs]
- Why are you dancing like that?
And then also, when you want to make something,
how do you even make one?
Can't we just go back to snail mail?
Fashion Week is fun. I love Fashion Week.
I've been doing Fashion Week
since I was too young to probably do it.
I think I was 15 when I did my first season.
I always compared it to kind of going back to school
because I see friends and models and girls
that I don't normally see throughout the year.
I used to be the Versace Fit Model
and they would sew the clothes on my body
and I went in in one of the looks and I kind of blacked out
because you know,
obviously it was a very exciting moment for me,
but I'm pretty sure Donatella Versace made me cry
and she was like, "Oh this is your look in the show,
I'm so excited to have you in my show this year".
I was like, what?
I started doing well and doing shoots and traveling a lot
and sometimes I can't believe I get to do it
and I pinch myself
because how the heck did I end up in this industry
and going to something like Fashion Week.
It's insane.
[upbeat music]
Oh I love that.
- [Kelsey] Just the soft shape.
- I love it, yeah, it's perfect.
- [Kelsey] There's a little bit of olive
right on the lash line.
- [Taylor] Just the little things you know,
just the little deets.
- [Kelsey] Get this mane going.
It's so good, you have such good natural texture.
- I know, that's what they told me in the fitting,
they were like, "keep your hair kind of how it is".
- [Kelsey] Yeah. We'll just [mumbles]
- Just not as ugly.
It's super rare that you meet someone
that can do hair and makeup.
I was the opposite because by the time figured out
what a hair straightener or blow dryer was
it was because they were being used on me.
- Mmhmm.
- Backstage at things.
My mom was a hairdresser,
but she cut my hair, she didn't do my hair.
- [Kelsey] You know when we first met?
You were saying that your mom has always cut your hair.
- Yeah, I didn't walk into a hair salon
until I was much, much older. Like 17.
All right, I just finished hair and makeup,
I'm about to put on my look
and I cannot wait for you guys to see it.
Be right back!
Ta-da! Ready.
[upbeat music]
Tate! Do you like my outfit?
- [Kelsey] Ready? Catch.
Hi-ya, ready freddy. All right Vogue,
thank you so much for getting ready with me.
I am heading to the Tom Ford Show and I'll see you later.
[techno music]
[crowd]
Bye-bye!
You've got a lot to say, I know,
but I want to hear you say I love you.
[dog barking]
Oh that was good, here you go. [mumbles]
