There are differences, of course, but essentially you get the same breeze block styling just with new underpinnings.

New electricals on new engines so you can have a G 500 with 416 horsepower.

But frankly, that's a bit pathetic.

What you want is this is the G 63 AMG four liter bi turbo engine, producing 577 brake horsepower.

That's the same amount of power you get in an AMG GT R.

In the past, of course, MG always d tuned their engines for the G class for fear of that ladder chassis twisting like a J cloth.

But now it's stronger.

It's differ.

It's so much faster.

It'll do not 60 in 4.5 seconds on 150 miles an hour, flat out on parole.

You out there saying, Well, it's just a gas guzzling irrelevance.

Get this on light throttle loads.

The V eight can shut down four, it's senders saving you one and PT Yeah, basically a Nico inside.

Here is where the really big differences are now.

You still get the passenger grab handle here, and you do still have this slightly weird driving position where the windscreen feels unnervingly close to your face.

But it's so much fresher than here.

It's so much more modern.

It's so much like any other AMG in the range, or even get the full width digits.

Told that that's pretty much lifted wholesale from the S class now underneath, you still get a traditional ladder frame chassis.

You still get three differential locks, which you can play around with here on the dashboard and a low range mode for the gearbox.

So this is still very much a proper off Roader.

It's got better ground clearance before it weighs up to 170 kilograms less than before, and it's slightly bigger in all dimensions, so you get more space, but now these are all good things.

But there's just one problem with this car, and that's the price.

It cost just over £143,000.

But there are say, in this crazy world of super SUVs.

It's not actually that much on DDE.

I've saved the best for last because for that money you get side pipes, side pipes that spit unburned fuel on the ground for May.
