Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack, who lived with his mother in a little cottage.

むかしむかし、小さなコテージで母親と一緒に暮らしていたジャックという少年がいました。

Jumping out of his window, Jack landed on the magic tree and looked up.

窓から飛び出したジャックは、魔法の木に着地して顔を上げた。

The old man told me the truth!

老人は本当のことを言った！

It really is touching the sky!

Curious to see where it led, Jack began to clamber up the beanstalk.

それがどこにつながっているのか興味津々で、ジャックは豆の木を登り始めました。

After climbing all day, Jack finally reached the sky.

一日中登り続けたジャックは、ようやく空にたどり着いた。

Surprised, Jack went in and looked around.

He had never seen anything so beautiful or so shiny.

Finally, Jack found his way into the kitchen where he discovered a loaf of bread and some milk.

最後にジャックはキッチンに入り、パンと牛乳を発見しました。

Just as he was about to sink his teeth into its crispy crust,

He heard loud, booming footsteps

and the entire castle shook as if there was an earthquake.

The next moment a horrible giant entered the room with sacks of gold coins in his hands.

Jack told his mother all about his adventure

and about the giant and showed her the sacks of gold.

と巨人のことを話し、彼女に金の袋を見せた。

A few days later Jack climbed the beanstalk again and went back to the castle.

数日後、ジャックは再び豆の木に登り、城に戻った。

As he was sneaking around the castle

he heard the giant's booming footsteps again.

He couldn't reach the table fast enough, so this time he hid in the closet.

Jack slid between the giant's legs and ran for his life.

ジャックは巨人の足の間を滑り、命がけで走った。

Jack slid down the beanstalk, the wind whistling in his ears.

ジャックは耳元で風切り音を立てながら、豆の木を滑り降りた。

But when he looked up, he saw that the giant was coming down after him!

しかし、見上げると巨人が追い打ちをかけて降りてきていた!

Reaching the ground, Jack grabbed an axe and began to hack away at the thick beanstalk

地面に着いたジャックは、斧を手にして太い豆の木を切り始めました。

With a loud crack, the beanstalk broke and came crashing down.

大きな音とともに、豆の木が折れて崩れ落ちてきました。

Losing his grip, the giant came tumbling down with it and fell to the ground dead.

彼のグリップを失い、巨人はそれと一緒に転がり落ちてきて、地面に死んで落ちた。

That day, Jack learned an important lesson.

その日、ジャックは重要な教訓を学んだ。

He never allowed himself to become greedy again, and understood that he had to work hard every day,
