  • Hi, Steve.

  • You've mentioned that it's okay if your team makes mistakes provided the effort is there.

  • How would you assess the effort tonight?

  • I think the effort for the most part, was there.

  • I thought we got a little demoralized in the second half.

  • We battled in the first half, came back from a big deficit early.

  • And then third quarter.

  • You know, we started to get blown out and I could see some heads hanging.

  • But the guys at the end, you closed the game playing hard, and and that's, uh that's what we're gonna have to stay on them about.

  • Just the you know, that the young guys on a night like tonight, which is gonna happen again.

  • I mean, this is not, you know, not a one off thing is that this is the reality.

  • There's gonna be nights like this this year, so you gotta play through it and you've got to keep fighting and keep getting better.

  • And that's that's the plan.

  • Is loony re aggravate his same hamstring injury.

  • That's, um my understanding was that there were some tightness.

  • Is that, uh okay.

  • And that obviously heard us.

  • Moon did a great job in the first half and, you know, defensively without him, um, we really struggled to say the least.

  • Did you get any explanation from dream on exactly what happened with the elbow thing?

  • That not nerve, the nerve issue.

  • Um, but he's doing He's doing fine stitches.

  • How would you characterize the defensive play?

  • Uh, over a world.

  • Things is what you saw.

  • The preseason was this worse.

  • Was this something that really troubles you?

  • Um, I'm thinking about John McKay's old line.

  • Why would you think of your defensive X here?

  • Your team's execution.

  • I'm all for, um I'm sorry.

  • That's poor taste.

  • And this was this was bad.

  • But, you know, give the Clippers credit.

  • They've got a hell of a team over there.

  • And they showed that Tuesday night, and it came in here, knock down everything.

  • Um, but when you, uh when you have a ce many young guys as we do, um, there's gonna be a lot of situational stuff that they haven't seen and they they don't recognize.

  • And so we're gonna come in tomorrow, watch a lot of film, and, uh, there's gonna be some growing pains like tonight, But, you know, we've got.

  • We've got to fight through it.

  • And we've got a teach these young guys and help them grow.

  • Help them learn and just try to get better as we go forward.

  • Coach, the guy is one, you know, for the last five years.

  • How do you handle it?

  • Not great.

  • It doesn't feel very good.

  • Losing steaks.

  • It's no fun.

  • But, you know, you just, uh this is this is more of the reality of the n ba then.

  • You know, the last five years we've we've been living in a in a world that isn't supposed to exist, You know, five years that basically was record wise.

  • I believe the best stretch if anybody's ever had over five years.

  • So this is reality.

  • 99 guys 23 or younger.

  • And, you know, we're starting over in many respects.

  • So we've got a patient and we gotta fight.

  • We gotta, uh, continue to teach as a staff, and the players have to continue to absorb and learn, and we'll get better.

  • I know that, Coach.

  • What did you think about Jacob Evans night?

  • Was he kind of a silver lining to Jacob played well, you know, we knock down some shots and you can see, you know, the experience of of Jacob, you know, having a year under his belt.

  • He just looked a lot more comfortable out there than he did a year ago.

  • And I thought I thought he played well.

  • Um, did a good job.

  • But obviously, in a game like that, nothing really stands out.

  • You know, it's we I got blown out.

  • So it's tough to talk about individual performances.

  • Steve, what happened on the last time out there said you didn't have any.

  • I instinctively just take a time out whenever we give up over the top, Um, transition basket.

  • If if we let somebody behind us, it's an automatic time out and actually thought we had one left.

  • And so since I called it, you know, the true Yoder like coach, we don't have any more left.

  • Um, didn't matter.

  • It was I wanted to get the low out of the game to game was over.

  • Um, and, uh, but yeah, I was I'd be lying if I said I knew I knew that.

  • You know that we didn't have any love.

  • I thought we had one left.

  • So it goes Steve Fall so far behind, right out of the gates, and I know that's the first quarter.

  • But to plug away at that is that Is that hard, too?

  • And I mean, when they come out like that e.

  • I mean, yeah, it's but But we did.

  • Our guys battled back.

  • I was 14.

  • Nothing.

  • And then, uh, and then our guys battled back.

  • We got right back in the game.

  • So So a good sign.
