  • who?

  • Lord?

  • One of 82.

  • Next question.

  • Here's the question, Doc.

  • Because they're saying you only get one chance to make a first impression.

  • And if that is true, what's the first impression that your team made on you tonight?

  • And did you expect this game to reach the intensity level that it reached?

  • Uh, yeah, you have the build up.

  • You know it, um no.

  • Is that it's unusual to have a game like that in number one, but the moment they made the schedule, it was almost position, like a prize fight in a lot of ways.

  • So no matter how much Frank and I probably tried to, you know, this, um, once the game starts, it was all thrown out of the window for the most part, my impression.

  • I guess what I saw on our team is just overall team toughness, you know, they hit us with a punch, Um, you know, to start, right?

  • And we just kept moving forward, you know, it's like, Okay, we took it and kept playing.

  • I thought our ball pressure changed the game for us and the rebounding for us.

  • Um, you know, they're big and they dominated in the preseason on offensive glass.

  • And, you know, I don't know how many times I saw our big fighting the big and our guards coming over and tapping the ball on keeping you alive.

  • Uh, I thought that was very impressed.

  • Hey, Coach, can you talk about more heartless Mo Harkless and what he brought to your team?

  • The You know, second quarter?

  • I said it earlier.

  • You know, a while ago that, you know, we're joined by Paul and Co.

  • I, um and I thought no one noticed that we added Mo Harkless to our team as well.

  • He's a hell of a defender.

  • You got deflections?

  • Um, you know, he guarded multiple positions.

  • It allowed us to switch a lot defensively.

  • So he was.

  • I thought, the four spot in general, all three of those guys contributed for us.

  • And that's big.

  • Especially when they make when Patrick Patterson make shots and Jermichael make shots and Moken switch and play defense and we play him at the three for most of the game, it gives us another dimension.

  • Dr Lewis.

  • Pretty efficient tonight, for the most part.

  • What did you see from him?

  • In terms of you know efficiency.

  • Basically, he was phenomenal.

  • Uh, he's just I don't know.

  • I guess Lou being Lou, you know, uh, he really is, You know, it's funny, you conceited Him and Kwai are about 10% had learned how to play with each other.

  • There's so many opportunities that they couldn't see yet.

  • You know where they can play off of each other.

  • Ah, but you know, they're so new to each other, you know, Um, so that's one takeaway.

  • You could see that that areas the Kawai Lou trails little action.

  • Uh, it's gonna get way.

  • It has to It's gonna get way better.

  • Uh, and that's a good thing for us.

  • Hey, Doc.

  • When Cho I hit seven shots in a row, What kind of impact do you think that had on the game turning?

  • Mo mentum and the degree of difficulty shots?

  • Yeah.

  • You took him out with about six months following the plan.

  • Yeah, you know, I don't know if it could have been worse time, and he makes seven row and I take him out.

  • You know what a coaching move that Waas.

  • Ah, but we had you know, we, uh we wanted to keep him in that little minute stretch.

  • All of them, Really?

  • Lou played over the minutes.

  • We wanted for him.

  • Um, you know, it is what it is.

  • I thought it was huge.

  • You know, it's a great sign of leadership in a lot of ways, you know, Were he created to run for us on everyone else joined in.

  • Um, and that's what he does.

  • He talks with his game, you know, uh, and I think that's the way it should be.

  • Patrick Beverley tied the game in rebounds today.

  • Can you just talk about his hustle?

  • Having 10 rebounds?

  • Yeah.

  • He's just no kid from Chicago, you know?

  • I mean, I don't know, Patrick, I don't.

  • I thought that one of biggest plays the game was the office rebound on the free throw.

  • You know, it led to a three point play when they were making a run.

  • You know, we just he has so much grit, you know, in him and fight.

  • Um, he actually believes he should be rebounding, which is that's just pat.

  • Beverly, they're linked.

  • Really bothered you guys 1st 678 minutes of the game.

  • Yeah.

  • What kind of adjustments did you see offensively with the guys that much.

  • I just thought it was the beginning of a game.

  • I don't know if they're Atlanta, just how we're playing, You know, um, you know, once we got the pace back in our favor, it didn't bother us as much.

  • But they are long, I can tell you that.

  • That's a long basketball team, Doc.

  • The bench points were 62 19.

  • Where would you put this Clippers team?

  • In terms of depth on other teams.

  • You've coached her, Plato.

  • Oh, this is I didn't have a loo a coming off or trips, for that matter.

  • Um, this this this bench, um, I said to you guys this morning or yesterday I think this bench is just gonna be really good, obviously.

  • But I think they're gonna be better this year.

  • Didn't even last year because of the addition of mo, You know, in his ability, we can get so long with that group and we can protect loom or defensively because we have more guys that can help him out.

  • So, um, Luen Trish, you know they have bad thing.

  • I mean, they know how to play with each other, and they know how to get other guys involved.

  • Can you talk about the team defense in the fourth quarter?

  • It was great.

  • Just basically team defense.

  • After the 1st 8 minutes of the game, I was pretty good.

  • The only only down part for us is that into the third, you know, they took LeBron off the floor and they made a run on and they made it run with three point shots.

  • We triple team guys on the post, so we lost our discipline a little bit in that stretch and it burned us.

  • So film wise, that'll be some great for us to watch because those are the things that can happen.

  • Ah, and it did.

  • And we still won the game.

  • Yeah, I mean, he was He was a savior.

  • He was really good.

  • You know?

  • He really waas like give him credit.

  • Makes big shots.

  • You know, Danny Greene's probably ah, of the guys on the floor.

  • It's probably been as I guess, LeBron would be number one in big games.

  • And then Danny Green would be, too.

  • And maybe Danny, maybe number one, I don't know.

  • But he was.

  • He was phenomenal tonight.

  • Bennett, like Dan, agree round, but yeah, that kind of the entire night anyways.

  • Well, yeah.

  • I mean, uh, lake friends of very loud early, You know, um I mean, they were, and then our guys I thought our fans took over from that point on.

  • Ah, but it I love it.

  • Like I thought it was great.

  • You know, I was thinking literally, like, I hope when we played them on their floor, which just a stupid statement in a lot of ways.

  • But, uh, we have some of our guys there too, you know, I think it's great.

  • I really do.

  • I think it's great for the city.

  • Um, you know, it was clean fun.

  • Like, I thought the fans on both sides had had fun.

  • Like they were into the game.

  • They cheered for their team, and I literally I thought, Well, this is great.

  • So enjoyed.

  • I think, heading into this game, one of the biggest questions from you guys defensively was how you're gonna defend 80.

  • What'd you think of the job that Trez and Jermichael did defend Graham?

  • 80 is great.

  • Listen, um, we made some mistakes, you know?

  • And every time we did it seem like he took advantage of it.

  • Um, we committed too many guys to him, like, four or five times.

  • They found three point shooters.

  • Um, you know, overall, I thought, you know, listen, we total guys, you're on your own, you know?

  • And yet we kept helping anyway.

  • Ah, couple of times.

  • And and Eddie and LeBron, there's such great passes.

  • They're smart enough, you know, because the post up to that's the way we're looking at it, you know?

  • Ah, but overall, I thought we fought.

  • I thought we we made it hard for him to get the ball.

  • Um, you know, I think over the guy's money because, hey, didn't get one spin out.

  • That's why you guys didn't get it.

  • But when Pat saved the one from the weak side, that's where our bench went nuts because he's gotten three or four of those a game, and I think he didn't get one tonight, so that was good.

  • That was good.

  • Focus, Coach, Can you just talk about quiets?

  • Overall debut tonight?

  • I think you should you know, you know now he was good.

  • He was He was absolutely wonderful.

  • Um, you know, he just couldn't score, but it does so many other things.

  • He made so many smart defensive plays with switches and challenges and deflections and really made some great passes today as well.

  • That's where you know his his ability to to make others of better has over the last, you know, whatever.

  • A couple of years has really jumped up and and that's gonna benefit us in the long run, Doc.

  • He, uh, Kawai and the walkoff interview with TNT talked about kind of some of the emotions he was dealing with for playing in the game.

  • What was your read on That where his state of mind was before the game.

  • I don't I can't read Quiet.

  • You know, in that way, uh, he was intense.

  • You know, you could feel that, like, you can feel the intensity.

  • There's no doubt about that.

  • Um, I think Tyler walked over to me and said, You know, tell me, Just look at him doing that.

  • I think on the jump ball circle where I was moving around, you know how everybody does all their gestures and quietly just sitting there.

  • You know, you could just see he was like, throw the ball up.

  • Let's get this on, Uh, that was Ty was right.

  • I think tonight we got to see a taste of the versatility you have with the depth on this team.

  • But how far along the curve are you in figuring out how you can use all these peace?

  • Oh, nowhere near.

  • I was frustrated tonight, Um, offensively, because I saw so many things that we didn't see yet.

  • They said I have seen them, but it's from you saw, like, so many things with Lou and quiet and then trails that we just didn't see yet.

  • Um, and so it'd be great to grow together as a group because I thought, I mean, we shot 51%.

  • 52%.

  • I thought we could have been so much more efficient.

  • No, that's asking a lot.

  • But we could have been, uh, so, uh, there and, you know, we don't have Paul yet, either.

  • So, uh, we have a long way to go.

  • Yes.

  • Yeah.

  • Ball pressure denials.

  • Um, no easy catches.

  • I mean, no, we kept, you know, going back in 19.

  • Used to tell me, but we use the football analogy every single day that if you take the worst quarterback in the NFL and you put no pressure on him.

  • He will pick you apart.

  • Um, and so we used that same in basketball and we don't care who has the ball.

  • He can't look over our defense with ball pressure, and I thought our guys did that pretty well today.

  • Thanks, guys.
