  • You confined us at TPM videos.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland opened in March of 1967 and it's definitely become an iconic attraction.

  • With these Disney dark rides, lighting and sound elements come together to create a seamless story that immerses you right into these fictional worlds.

  • Now, if you've been watching this channel for a little while, you'll know that I'm fascinated by seeing things at the theme parks, not go to plan, then taking a look at how these issues are addressed so efficiently, like rides breaking down.

  • Last year, a viewer sent in footage of a breakdown on Pirates of the K R B in at Magic Kingdom, where the lights were turned on and the sound was turned off.

  • It really gave you a new appreciation for the magic that goes into creating these classic attractions.

  • Well.

  • Last week, a viewer by the name of Chris Friend sentence um, video of a breakdown from Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland and he might be saying, Okay, but we already saw Pirates of the Caribbean breakdown.

  • And sure, you're not wrong, but this breakdown at Disneyland gives you a lights on.

  • Look into a different part of the ride.

  • The last one I Magic Kingdom on.

  • Lee showed us the burning town scene.

  • This one here happened right as you entered the pooped pirate scene.

  • And the video gives you quite a good look at Thean.

  • She'll exit procedure.

  • You go through on the right.

  • Not to mention you'll get to see two different scenes on the ride with the lights on and the sound off.

  • It's a pretty rare look into pirates.

  • So before we go any further, let's take a quick look at what the sequence looks like on a normal ride through Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • Way seen for too long.

  • But here in the breakdown, you'll get to see the ride with normal show audio and animatronic movement.

  • But once the camera cuts in the show, audio is turned off.

  • Pay close attention to the audio animatronics getting power down, going from having full life and character to being completely lifeless.

  • I need you powering down and resetting the audio.

  • Animatronics is a typical procedure during an in show exit.

  • What I find really interesting here is that the figures chasing each other clearly run on a different system than the main audio animatronics in the scene and on the ride.

  • If these figures spinning were considered animatronics, then they would also be powered down in the situation.

  • So I guess they truly aren't audio animatronics and would just be considered Maur like rotating mannequins.

  • When it becomes really interesting, though, is one the lights turn on.

  • You get a great glimpse into what the sets really look like and get a clear view of all the details.

  • It's definitely a rare view of the scene trouble you need.

  • Yeah, it's pretty remarkable that this turns into a completely different experience with show, lighting and sound.

  • Any of you who are very familiar with the scene You may have already noticed that these two drunken pirates on the ground are currently removed from the ride in the breakdown footage.

  • From time to time, Disney does remove certain figures from maintenance, and usually it's known as obvious with show lighting.

  • But what the work lights turned on, It's clear that something is missing right over here.

  • Now, the intial exit procedure on Pirates of the Caribbean that requires the boats to travel to the closest dock hidden along the right path.

  • There appears to be a doctor just before the auction scene.

  • So in this breakdown, it's gonna require the boats to travel backwards, which means we'll get an up close look at the preceding scenes with the lights on the way.

  • Yeah, I think I got it.

  • There's so much detail to see.

  • So enjoy this.

  • A rare look at the auction scene and just soak in all the details that's you're going to You're going.

  • Okay, Wait.

  • Yeah, This is quite a stark contrast to the scene.

  • And during normal operation again, it just further reinforces how important sound and lighting are to the Disney dark ride experience.

  • Wait, and now is on.

  • The fun begins with a ride like pirates, where you're completely surrounded by water.

  • A cast member wearing rubber waiters is required to hop into the water and push the boats to the closest dock.

  • Wait, but Okay.

  • You think no Now, if you do break down on a ride, the in she'll exit procedure can be pretty lengthy and in this case, on pirates, from breaking down to getting off the boat.

  • It did take about 45 minutes to an hour.

  • But the main thing here is that during an in show exit, the cast members were so efficient and attentive that everyone made it out safely.

  • They also handed out fast passes to everyone on the ride that could be used on any other Disneyland attraction.

  • A huge thank you to Chris for sharing this footage and giving us this rare look into Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean.
