  • Hello, everyone.

  • Welcome to another video.

  • Now the eye 5 25 100 k is undoubtedly one of the most well respected pieces of hardware to ever grace the PC component market.

  • These days, the sandy bridge icon can be found at a very reasonable price.

  • And so I decided to build this a gaming PC made up of used parts that proudly features the 2500 k at the center.

  • It cost me about £300 in total.

  • It may not offer the greatest price to performance in the world, and there are probably better roads to go down at this sort of budget.

  • But I've been wanting to put this bill together for a while.

  • This is the eye 5 25 100 k gaming machine.

  • So let's talk about parts.

  • First of all, we have the process.

  • Er itself four cause four threads on the clock speed off 3.3 gigahertz with a 3.7 gigahertz turbo it launched eight years ago.

  • And if anything is going to let it down in 2019 it will be the lack of hyper threading for the motherboard.

  • I spent a little more for a zed 77 chips at this gigabyte de s three h will allow us to over clock The trip with these over clocking the 2500 k is a no brainer these days, providing you have the right hardware.

  • The problem is that boards like this can still hold their value quite well, so be sure to shop around for the best deals.

  • While many would argue that 16 Gigs of Ram is the sweet spot nowadays, eight gigs is still fine.

  • If you're on a tighter budget, two Sticks in Jewel Channel is the way to go on with a board like this that supports up to 32 gigs of DDR three.

  • You can always upgrade later on.

  • That's the beauty of PC building.

  • I then went on the hunt for a power supply, the riskiest thing to buy second hand.

  • It's more important when doing so that you look for quality units like this.

  • 80 plus bronze, OSI said.

  • 550.

  • What box?

  • 550 watts is plenty for the eye five as well as our choice of graphics card.

  • But make sure whatever you buy has all the necessary connections you require speaking of graphics cards, and I was super excited to find one of these little beauties.

  • This is the radio on our nine Nano.

  • It uses four gigs of H B M or high bandwith memory, and it should give you similar performance to a 5 80 or 10 60 though it will pull away at Higher Resolutions Festival.

  • It's tiny, so it'll fit in a wide variety of smaller or cramped cases.

  • What's better than that is that I found this one at a great used price.

  • Now, if you plan to use the eye five, that stock the AM call up will suffice.

  • But I have heard plenty of stories of stock cooler over clocks to I sort of approach this idea straight down the middle one went with Intel's roided up caller, designed for K series chips I didn't buy, especially for this video, actually had it lying around from another time, and I was curious to see how it kept temperatures in check here.

  • Considering Intel sites designed for K series processes on dhe, therefore, over clocking.

  • You want a better one than this, though, if you plan to hit those higher clock speeds, other components include a 480 gigabyte SSD and this treat but call looking case.

  • I was trying to go for a blue theme, but I guess the Nano messed that up a bit.

  • I could always paint it anyway, are installed Windows 10 using a £2 product key from eBay and set about overcooking.

  • This was a simple It's changing the multiply from 33 to 42 in the BIOS, meaning the chip now sat at 4.2 gigahertz.

  • I could go higher, I'm sure, but this is a realistic expectation that should be achievable by any 2500 K out there on a decent bold.

  • I'll be going for higher clock speeds in another video, but that's a whole other story.

  • So the eye 5 25 100 K and Nano What can they do?

  • Well, first, I wanted to test the power of both CPU and GPU individually, so I fired up cinnamon chart 20 and so well, a result that should be expected for an eight year old chip.

  • It does okay, and for video editing, other CPU heavy tasks.

  • It will do fine, especially over clocked.

  • The GPU was put to the test with superposition at the 10 80 p.

  • Extreme preset.

  • If anything, this was to test stability, as I have read some horror stories about this card.

  • Plus, this one is used, but it looks very clean in the temperature.

  • Seem good to my guess is that it was well looked after.

  • So now for the moment you've all been waiting for, how does this combination perform with a few modern games now, to get something off my chest here.

  • I think that if you had a little more to spend, you wanted to build a 25 100 k machine, then an improved cooler for maximum overcooking potential and some more RAM would certainly do the trick.

  • But I feel that this system is a nice starting place for a 25 100 k build, though whether that's worth it anyway is entirely dependent on what you think of these results.

  • So I started off with Cem CPU intensive games on the first stop was Battlefield five.

  • This is actually where we saw the most problems with the eye five at 4.2 gigahertz.

  • Here we were seeing quite intensive CPU usage with the eye five often maxing out 100% and causing some serious stutter during this tank level.

  • I chose this level because it's particularly demanding and you will run into some issues, what with all the explosions and gunfire occurring on screen now, another title that's fairly CPU dependent is Kingdom Come Deliverance.

  • Not only does this rely on multiple threats, but it also relies a lot on memory as well.

  • And I feel that this is where the aforementioned 16 gigs of Ram would come in handy.

  • Now, this isn't going to be the case with a lot of games, and by that I mean the on screen stuttering and such.

  • But those games that do require more threads and more RAM will give you more performance issues at lower settings, though, say 10 80 p medium I did see a much improved result with Kingdom come here, I feel that this waas almost spot on, but you have to drop a few things in order to avoid those stutters here.

  • So I threw CS going here because it is a CPU dependent game.

  • Though there are no on screen, Analitico is here because M.

  • S I afterburner didn't want to work if you look in the bottom right hand corner, then you'll see that the frappes counter is active.

  • And we were seeing over 200 FBS on some occasions at 10.

  • 80 p.

  • Lo.

  • A lot of people have told me that C s go players play the game at low settings for the maximum frame rate.

  • So there we have it.

  • 10.

  • 80 pillow is going to be no problem with C S.

  • Cho on this combination off components for all of you racing fans out there.

  • Dirt really.

  • Two will perform flawlessly to with a mixture of higher on medium settings averaging around 75 to 80 f.

  • P.

  • S.

  • I was playing through a time trial level here, but know that you should be achieving 60 even in a race with multiple other components on both off these pieces of hardware combined with the eight gigs off ramp don't really to is a game that relies more on graphics cards.

  • And as you can see here, the process er isn't really being utilized all that much.

  • Whereas Theo nine nano is being pushed to its limit.

  • Remember how I said I was using that sort of roided up Intel stock cooler here.

  • Well, just look at how well it's doing at our keeping the process.

  • A call at 4.2 gigahertz.

  • It may be interesting to see how far we can actually push this thing and still retain decent temperatures with this heat sink fan.

  • The Arno Nana is also staying pretty cool under load here Now gives five made use of the CPU and deep you almost equally and at 10 80 p medium settings with the adaptive resolution off.

  • This time around, we were seeing a very nice frame rate off around 80.

  • This was actually quite surprising, considering gives five.

  • Really isn't that old?

  • And I've heard it can cause some trouble with higher settings on some graphics cards, especially older ones.

  • So I think here 10.

  • 80 p medium was a nice place to bay.

  • Setting things to hire may still grant you 60 f.

  • P.

  • S on average, but I think medium here guarantees you're covers you for any of those instances where you may see a few drops here and there.

  • This is the benchmark test and will vary from actual gameplay, but you should experience a pretty decent result I was particularly worried about Metro exodus here.

  • I was playing through the Caspian desert level and we were hovering close to 60 frames per second at the high settings.

  • When I first find this game up, I selected medium on.

  • We were hitting about 65 to 75 f.

  • P s on average.

  • So if you want to be in the sixties or above it all times, then medium would be the better way to play.

  • However, I wanted a little more visual quality from the game here, so I set things the high and I think it's still did.

  • Okay, there will be a few instances off, slow down, as you can probably tell by this gameplay footage.

  • But the game looks great and it plays great, too, on this combination of components.

  • When you think about it, how old the eye five is now it's surprising that it can still handle itself in a lot of these modern games, relatively trouble free, depending on what the title is.

  • Of course, my time in pub ji went about as well as you can expect from my awful skills, and no sooner had I landed had I been nearly wiped out.

  • Hopefully, you can still gauge a good idea of the performance here.

  • These frame rate figures were taken from another game play session.

  • I went back because I wasn't happy with taking the average from me crawling along the ground but a 10 80 p Hi, The game did very well.

  • It's a couple of years old, so it will perform better than a lot off newer titles.

  • And it has seen some great optimization Sze over the last few months as well.

  • Pudgy, very playable on this combination, but it is a more GPU intensive title.

  • As you can see, the R nine Nano is running at 100% at 10.

  • 80 p a lot off the time.

  • Finally, ladies and gentlemen, we have raged to This is probably one of my favorite games to come out in the last year or so it received mixed reviews, but I really enjoy it.

  • And here the I five and aren't I?

  • No have no trouble running it with the high preset act in a teepee with over 60 FBS.

  • In fact, we were hovering closer to 70 is a very nice experience here and as I attacked this little hideout.

  • The frame rate was staying pretty smooth throughout.

  • You can see that this game uses the GPU more than it does the CPU as well, which is probably a good thing considering rage to does have some CBU issues.

  • In fact, on some four core CPI use or even jewel core CPI use, it won't launch a tall and it really is a mixed bag.

  • As to what Si, pues the game starts up on the I 5 25 100 k is absolutely fine.

  • So overall, then I think this machine did quite well.

  • Now I will be holding on to this for a while because I want to explore further options.

  • I know there's some tweaks we can make to the R nine Nano.

  • I want to see what sort of modern performance we can expect from that, perhaps giving it a little bit of an overcooked as well.

  • I also want to check out the performance off the I 5 25 100 K when it's pushed a little harder with a better caller.

  • I want to even try and get to five gigahertz, perhaps with a liquid solution, but I'll have to see how that goes, because it is luck of the draw as to which chips Conover cock in which troops can't overcook all that Well.

  • Nonetheless, though, well, I hope you've enjoyed this video.

  • I've really had fun testing out this combination of components.

  • The eye 5 25 100 k will still do you a nice turn in some titles.

  • Just bear in mind that the lack of hyper threading may let you down.

  • But should you want to put a PC together, that's on the 11 55 platform.

  • You can do so knowing that there's always the possibility of upgrading to an eye seven as well, something that would still be more than capable in 2019 perhaps a 26 100 K or 37 70.

  • If your motherboard supports it with all that sudden down, then, well, I hope you've enjoyed this video.

  • If you did leave a lock on it, leave a dislike if you didn't subscribe to the channel.

Hello, everyone.
