  • -Now that the Senate has fulfilled

  • its Constitutional responsibility,

  • bringing this process to a conclusion,

  • I want to say again to the American people

  • how profoundly sorry I am for what I said

  • and did to trigger these events

  • and the great burden they have imposed on the Congress

  • and on the American people.

  • -But a tremendous thing was done over the last number of months.

  • But really, if you go back to it,

  • over the last number of years, we had the witch hunt.

  • It was evil, it was corrupt, it was dirty cops,

  • it was leakers and liars.

  • And this should never, ever happen to another

  • President ever.

  • I don't know if other Presidents would've been able to take it.

  • -I also am humbled and very grateful for the support

  • and the prayers I have received

  • from millions of Americans over this past year.

  • -We've done I think more than any President

  • and administration,

  • and really, I say, for the most part,

  • Republican Congressmen, Congresswomen.

  • -Now I ask all Americans, and I hope all Americans,

  • here in Washington and throughout our land --

  • We'll rededicate ourselves to the work of serving our nation

  • and building our future together.

  • -And this is really not a news conference,

  • it's not a speech, it's not anything.

  • It's just we're sort of -- It's a celebration

  • because we have something that just worked out.

  • I mean, it worked out.

  • We went through Hell unfairly, did nothing wrong --

  • did nothing wrong.

  • I've done things wrong in my life, I will admit.

  • Not purposefully, but I've done things wrong.

  • But this is what the end result is.

  • -This can be and this must be a time

  • of reconciliation and renewal for America.

  • Thank you very much.

  • We first went through "Russia, Russia, Russia."

  • It was all bull-[bleep].

  • We then went through the Mueller report.

  • And they should've come back one day later.

  • They didn't. They came back two years later.

  • -In your heart, sir, can you forgive and forget?

  • -I believe any person who asks for forgiveness

  • has to be prepared to give it.

  • -Do you feel vindicated, sir?

  • -We are making progress and doing things

  • for our great people that everybody said couldn't be done.

  • Our country is thriving.

  • Our country is just respected again.
