  • Loyal readers,  I'm Rose McIver,

  • and before you indulge

  • in A Christmas PrinceThe Royal Baby,

  • I wanted to take a trip down memory lane

  • to remind us all how we got here.

  • This is A Christmas Prince.

  • We start in New York City,

  • where struggling writer Amber,

  • that's me,

  • gets the most challenging assignment of her career...

  • What do you know about the royal family of Aldovia?

  • Aldovia?

  • ...to fly to a beautiful foreign country

  • and cozy up to a hot, mysterious prince.

  • Life is hard sometimes.

  • But forget all that. It seems like the real question

  • {\an8}on everyone's mind is...

  • Where is Aldovia?

  • So you know what?

  • Let's just settle this once and for all.

  • Aldovia is--

  • Wow.

  • So, Amber arrives in Aldovia, and in order to get the story,

  • she sneaks her way into the castle

  • where she gets mistaken for Princess Emily's new tutor,

  • and of course she just kind of rolls with it.

  • That's me. The tutor.

  • It should be the perfect disguise,

  • except that Amber doesn't exactly fit in.

  • She struggles to curtsy.

  • Your face...

  • Something wrong

  • -with my face? -No.

  • Fails at flirting.

  • It's perfectly normal.

  • Perfectly normal?

  • And almost breaks every single thing in the palace.

  • I am so, so sorry.

  • Was this expensive, or...

  • Only 15th-century Ming porcelain.

  • I'm so sorry.

  • And this is all while trying to do her job:

  • take down the prince.

  • But Amber encounters another tiny problem

  • in her quest for journalistic excellence.

  • She and Prince Richard start falling for each other.

  • This involves a lot of snowball fights,

  • dramatic rescue from wolves,

  • and some good old-fashioned holiday romance.

  • But the falling-in-love thing makes her job even harder,

  • especially when she finds out

  • that Prince Richard is not the blood heir to the throne.

  • Oh, my gosh.

  • Turns out he's adopted.

  • This is the scoop that could make her career,

  • but Amber is, you know, feeling a bit conflicted

  • about ruining his life, now that she loves the guy.

  • Break the story.

  • This is somebody's life we're talking about.

  • You know who doesn't mind ruining Prince Richard's life?

  • It's his cousin, Simon. That's right,

  • no Christmas movie would be complete without a Grinch.

  • If Richard abdicates the throne,

  • then Cousin Simon's next in line.

  • Male bloodline.

  • It's totally unfair.

  • He is the Grinch trying to steal Aldovia.

  • Well, well, well.

  • All of the royal secrets come spilling out

  • at Richard's coronation ball,

  • which is a real shame for Amber

  • because she pulled off the impossible task

  • of pairing Converse with her ballgown.

  • This Christmas prince

  • is not the blood of the late king.

  • Richard!

  • Please, wait.

  • But she does save Christmas Day, quite literally,

  • when she discovers

  • that Richard can stay on the throne,

  • thanks to a hidden royal decree.

  • Stop!

  • "Though my blood may not run in his veins,

  • Richard, Prince of Aldovia...

  • is my son."

  • So Prince Richard becomes King Richard...

  • Long live the King!

  • ...and Simon slinks off into the Aldovian night.

  • And Amber?

  • Well, Richard swoops in with a very romantic proposal,

  • which leaves her with the heartbreaking choice

  • between a career writing about D-grade celebrities

  • and working part time at her dad's diner,

  • or marrying a rich, hot prince

  • and getting to live in a palace for the rest of her life.

  • I would choose option number two as well.

  • Which leads us to

  • A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding.

  • We're fast-forwarding to a year later,

  • and we've still got all the royal faves.

  • We've got sassy Princess Emily.

  • -Amber! -Richard, and of course,

  • the return of Cousin Simon.

  • Some things have changed, though, like Amber.

  • As a future queen, she's a bit of a celebrity now,

  • and cryptocurrency turns out to be

  • something you have to worry about a lot in Aldovia.

  • I should've known this was about

  • getting your hands on the kingdom's money.

  • Thanks, Simon.

  • But with her fairytale wedding just weeks away,

  • not everything is turning out perfect for Amber's big day.

  • It's just not working.

  • She's dealing with

  • an overzealous wedding planner,

  • a fiancé trying to save his people from financial ruin.

  • What about our jobs?

  • And a wedding dress that...

  • Well, it's a lot.

  • It's perfect.

  • I can't see.

  • Luckily, Amber's friends show up

  • and agree to help her solve that pesky problem

  • of Aldovia being on the brink of financial ruin.

  • It's two days before your wedding.

  • Your best friends just flew halfway around the world

  • to celebrate, and you want to work?

  • So Amber puts on her best undercover journalist outfit

  • and she investigates.

  • After some careful sleuthing,

  • they figure out where all of Aldovia's money is going,

  • and no,

  • it's not towards a revival of Princess Emily's hit play.

  • It's into the pockets of King Richard's trusted

  • financial advisor.

  • Lord Leopold.

  • So it seems like Cousin Simon is off the hook

  • as this year's Christmas Grinch

  • and he's back to being a good guy.

  • Now that Aldovia is officially safe,

  • we can get to the wedding fun,

  • like the bachelorette party,

  • a dress that's much more Amber than Sahil,

  • and of course, wedding- appropriate Converse.

  • There's even a royal conga line,

  • because believe it or not,

  • you can take the Amber out of New York,

  • but you cannot take the rhythm out of Queen Helena.

  • So now Amber and Richard are married,

  • and you can probably guess

  • that a new heir to Aldovia is on the way.

  • Will it be a boy?

  • Will it be a girl?

  • I don't know, but it will definitely be entertaining.

  • Actually, I do know. It's a--

  • So grab your wine, cozy up and get ready to watch

  • A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby,

  • only on Netflix.
