"Come up here, and I will show you the things which must happen after this."

And immediately I was in the spirit:

神の言とイエスのあかしとのゆえに、パトモスという島にいた。

and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

その後、わたしが見ていると、見よ、開いた門が天にあった。

And he that sat was in appearance like a Jasper and a sardine stone:

そして、さきにラッパのような声でわたしに呼びかけるのを聞いた初めの声が、

and there was a rainbow around the throne in sight like an emerald.

「ここに上ってきなさい。そうしたら、これから後に起るべきことを、見せてあげよう」と言った。

Around the throne were twenty-four thrones.

すると、たちまち、わたしは御霊に感じた。

On the thrones were twenty-four elders sitting, dressed in white garments,

見よ、御座が天に設けられており、その御座にいますかたがあった。

with crowns of gold on their heads.

その座にいますかたは、碧玉や赤めのうのように見え、

And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices:

また、御座のまわりには、緑玉のように見えるにじが現れていた。

and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

また、御座のまわりには二十四の座があって、

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like crystal:

二十四人の長老が白い衣を身にまとい、頭に金の冠をかぶって、それらの座についていた。

In the middle of the throne, and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes before and behind.

御座からは、いなずまと、もろもろの声と、雷鳴とが、発していた。

And the first creature was like a lion,

また、七つのともし火が、御座の前で燃えていた。これらは、神の七つの霊である。

and the second creature like a calf,

御座の前は、水晶に似たガラスの海のようであった。

and the third creature had a face as of a man,

御座のそば近くそのまわりには、四つの生き物がいたが、その前にも後にも、一面に目がついていた。

and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle.

The four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within.

第二の生き物は雄牛のようであり、

and they have no rest day and night, saying,

第三の生き物は人のような顔をしており、

"Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come."

第四の生き物は飛ぶわしのようであった。

When the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne,

この四つの生き物には、それぞれ六つの翼があり、その翼のまわりも内側も目で満ちていた。

to him who lives forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down before him who sits on the throne,

そして、昼も夜も、絶え間なくこう叫びつづけていた、

and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and throw their crowns before the throne, saying,

「聖なるかな、聖なるかな、聖なるかな、全能者にして主なる神。昔いまし、今いまし、やがてきたるべき者」。

"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power,

これらの生き物が、御座にいまし、かつ、世々限りなく生きておられるかたに、栄光とほまれとを帰し、また、感謝をささげている時、

for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed and were created!"

二十四人の長老は、御座にいますかたのみまえにひれ伏し、

And I saw upon the right hand of Him who is sitting upon the throne a scroll,

世々限りなく生きておられるかたを拝み、彼らの冠を御座のまえに、投げ出して言った、

written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals;

「われらの主なる神よ、あなたこそは、栄光とほまれと力とを受けるにふさわしいかた。

and I saw strong angel proclaiming with a great voice,

あなたは万物を造られました。御旨によって、万物は存在し、また造られたのであります」。

"Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose the seals of it?"

わたしはまた、御座にいますかたの右の手に、巻物があるのを見た。

and no one was able in the heaven,

その内側にも外側にも字が書いてあって、七つの封印で封じてあった。

nor upon the earth, nor under the earth, to open the scroll, nor to behold it.

また、ひとりの強い御使が、大声で、

And I was weeping much, because no one was found worthy to open and to read the scroll, nor to behold it.

「その巻物を開き、封印をとくのにふさわしい者は、だれか」と呼ばわっているのを見た。

One of the elders said to me,

しかし、天にも地にも地の下にも、この巻物を開いて、それを見ることのできる者は、ひとりもいなかった。

"Don't weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David,

巻物を開いてそれを見るのにふさわしい者が見当らないので、わたしは激しく泣いていた。

has overcome; to open the scroll, and to loose the seven seals of it"

すると、長老のひとりがわたしに言った、

I saw in the middle of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders,

「泣くな。見よ、ユダ族のしし、ダビデの若枝であるかたが、勝利を得たので、その巻物を開き七つの封印を解くことができる」。

a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes,

わたしはまた、御座と四つの生き物との間、長老たちの間に、ほふられたとみえる小羊が立っているのを見た。

which are the seven spirits of God sent out to all the earth.

それに七つの角と七つの目とがあった。これらの目は、全世界につかわされた、神の七つの霊である。

and he came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who is sitting upon the throne.

小羊は進み出て、御座にいますかたの右の手から、巻物を受けとった。

And when he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb,

巻物を受けとった時、四つの生き物と二十四人の長老とは、おのおの、立琴と、

each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

香の満ちている金の鉢とを手に持って、小羊の前にひれ伏した。この香は聖徒の祈である。

And they sing a new song, saying,

彼らは新しい歌を歌って言った、

"Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, for you were killed,

「あなたこそは、その巻物を受けとり、封印を解くにふさわしいかたであります。

and bought us for God with your blood, out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,

あなたはほふられ、その血によって、神のために、あらゆる部族、国語、民族、国民の中から人々をあがない、

and made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth."

わたしたちの神のために、彼らを御国の民とし、祭司となさいました。彼らは地上を支配するに至るでしょう」。

And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders;

さらに見ていると、御座と生き物と長老たちとのまわりに、多くの御使たちの声が上がるのを聞いた。

and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice,

その数は万の幾万倍、千の幾千倍もあって、

"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing."

大声で叫んでいた、

I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on this sea, and everything in them, saying,

「ほふられた小羊こそは、力と、富と、知恵と、勢いと、ほまれと、栄光と、さんびとを受けるにふさわしい」。

"To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the might for ever and ever."

またわたしは、天と地、地の下と海の中にあるすべての造られたもの、そして、

And the four living creatures said, "Amen".

それらの中にあるすべてのものの言う声を聞いた、

And the elders fell down and worshiped.

「御座にいますかたと小羊とに、さんびと、ほまれと、栄光と、権力とが、世々限りなくあるように」。
