  • Hiyoyo, the name's IYUSE.

  • Today, I was thinking of presenting you how I did the art for my Ascension CB team "DEADℒ⚙ͼk".

  • I will apologize ahead for the lenght of this video. Though since the process was quite lenghty,

  • the video itself will also be quite long.

  • With that said, let's get right into it!

  • The program I will be using here is of course, Paint Tool SAI2.

  • ATTENTION: Since all the footages were taken from stream recordings,

  • some parts of the process might be missing.

  • Context: There are 4 singers participating in this collaboration,

  • which each have 2 sets of illustrations prepared for them. But since the second set wasn't recorded,

  • I am unable to show you it's process in this video.

  • Therefore, I will only be presenting you the making of the main set of illustrations.

  • HIYOYO!

  • BTW:.To draw clean lines, I tend to draw quick and long strokes,

  • but it also ends up with me abusing of the undo button...

  • HIYOYO!

  • Usually, I will start with the outline (of the body) and then add on the clothes on top.

  • Personally for me, it makes the drawing of the clothes (folds) a bit easier.

  • HIYOYO!

  • Of course, if there's any objects overlapping, feel free to draw it on a new layer.

  • Doing so, you can then easily erase the object that shouldn't be seen later on.

  • HIYOYO!

  • Since a CB round is quite short, it is strongly suggested to give in the art to the animator as soon as possible.

  • In this case, once I'm done with the colored sketches, I immediately send them over to the animator.

  • Since the animator can then begin earlier, their workload is already reduced quite a bit.

  • HIYOYOYOYOYOYOYOYOYO!!!

  • !!ATTENTION!!

  • Please note that not all animators like this method.

  • In the end, it all depends on the preference of the animator.

  • With that in mind, it would be better for you to consult with your team's animator beforehand.

  • HIYOYO!

  • Lineart Begins

  • This time, there will be 2-3 facial expressions to each singers.

  • For that reason, we will be separating the body and facial expression into different layers.

  • HIYOYO!

  • The lineart is almost done! As a finishing touch, we want to make the contour lines a bit thicker.

  • By doing so, the drawing will surely pop out more/feel more tangible.

  • Let's also thicken the overlapping objects and not only the contour of the drawing.

  • NB:If you thicken the lines of the objects closest to the watcher, it will make the drawing seem more dynamic.

  • HIYOYOYOYOYOYOYOYOYO!!!

  • !!ATTENTION!!

  • Remember well how we seperated the lineart layers of the facial expressions from the body.

  • You MUST do the same thing for the shading/coloring.

  • Please do the coloring for this facial expression on it's own layer.

  • (Don't do a mistake like I did OTL)

  • HIYOYO!

  • I'm sorry if I tried various combinations...

  • Since it's been a while since i last colored an illustration, I'm was a bit rusty.

  • Consequently, I've been wanting to find a new coloring style and work with that.

  • To do so, I will be playing around with layer modes, working through trial and errors and changing hues.

  • HIYOYO!

  • The advantages of digital art must be how easily you can modify a drawing...

  • No matter what mistake you do, as long as you can find it, you can easily fix it.

  • For example here, the eye position was a bit odd, so I moved it.

  • HIYOYO!

  • And there you go! This is all the recorded process I had.

  • How was it?

  • As you can see, it's quite a tough task, and it did prove itself quite hard to draw.

  • But looking at the results, it does feel worth it in the end!

  • I do hope somehow that this video was helpful to some.

  • With that said, Let's meet in the next video!

  • IYUSE, OUT. BBY

Hiyoyo, the name's IYUSE.
