scented markers. Smell them one at a time

and guess the color.

(Tommy) One at a time, guess the -- you know what?

I can certainly give it a go.

Here we are in front of me we have nice magic markers all layed out here.

There are nine basic colors.

They're said to all have a distinct different smell, and my job is

to see how many I can guess. Just by smelling the marker. I have no idea what they are.

Um, but I'm about to find out by smelling them.

So, how many do you think I'll get? Play along it'll be fun.

And me? I think I'll get just under half

I'll get four out of nine. (bell)

Here we go. First one.

Open her up.

Mmm, what does that smell like? Wait.

It's like a can of Hawaiian Punch or something like that.

Ooh, you know, I'm going to write all over my face

playing this stupid game.

All right, I'm going to say this is red.

(buzzer) No, not there.

All right, fine.

(Computer Voice) The marker should smell like a lemon.

So the color is... yellow.

(Tommy) It does. Now that you mention it. It does. It smells like Pledge.

Let's play another one. Here we go. (bell)

And now a little sniff.

Mmm, what is that?

Mmm... I don't know.

Maybe that's more of a red smell...

of a cherry smell. You know what,

I'm going to try red again. I'm going to say this is red.

(buzzer) Again, no. What color was this?

(VOX) The marker should smell like an orange.

Ah, it does -- you know, when you say it.

It does smell sort of like an orange. (VOX) So the color is...

Orange. (bell)

Let's see how we do this time.

Mmm... it's very distinct.

I'm going to guess that that smells

like grape. Therefore,

if I know my fruit and colors right... it would be purple?

(buzzer) No! God...

What is it? (VOX) The marker should smell like a cherry.

(Tommy) This game is not easy. (VOX) So the color is... red.

(Tommy) There's the red I've been looking for.

Now that's out of mix.

(bell)

Next color.

Mmm... wait a minute. This one might work.

Okay. I've got a guess. I'm going to say.

It smells like black licorice, therefore it would be...

black. (Correct answer bells) Hey! I got one!

How about that? (bell)

Mmm... I know that smell. What is that?

I am going to say...

I'm going to say that this color smells rather minty

so therefore it would be green.

(Correct answer bells) Hey! Look at me go! I'm on fire!

Tie ball game, now. Two right and two wrong.

Here's the next one. (bell)

Oooh, let's see.

All right. I'm going to say

that these people made this supposed to be

Oh, I don't know. I'm not feeling confident here, but I'm going

to go... it smells kind of like chocolate.

So I will say brown. (buzzer) No! Not brown.

(VOX) The marker should smell like a watermelon.

(Tommy) So what color is a watermelon? I will say

that a watermelon is...

pink. (VOX) Correct.

(Tommy) Hey! How about that? I get a half a point for that. Come on! (VOX) Not a chance.

(bell)

(Tommy) Oh, I'm going to stop right here. That is purple.

That smells like grape. It's got to be purple.

I'm locking it in. (buzzer)

No way! (VOX) The marker should smell like

a blueberry. (Tommy) So, therefore the color is blue.

Listen, you might say I blew this one! (laughs)

All right, a couple more left. I'm doing great so far.

I've gotten two right out of all these. So let's try another one.

(bell)

See, the problem is, this late in the game everything is starting to smell the same.

It smells like magic marker without the "far-out" part. (laughs)

All right, I know we haven't had a purple.

We haven't had like a -- we've had black, but we haven't had a brown.

So, I'm going to say that this is the grape. I'm going to say that finally

this is purple. Grape. Purple is my final answer.

(correct answer bells) Hey! Look at me go!

I may get to my goal of four. Who knows.

One color to go. Oh my god, can you feel the tension?

All right, our final one here. I've gotten three out of eight.

(bell)

Okay, the pressure is one. Here we go.

Uh oh. All right, so what haven't we had?

There's been no brown, right? There's been no white.

There's really not been a gray. I feel like I smell a mint to it,

but you know, maybe there's like a chocolatey thing to it to.

I'm going to go all in. Final answer. It smells like chocolate.

Therefore... brown.

(VOX) The marker should smell like cinnamon. (Tommy) Cinnamon?

So then the -- (VOX) So the color is... brown.

(VOX) Congratulations.

(Tommy) Oh, wow! Wait, so the smell is --

See, I didn't know cinnamon was brown. (VOX) You just won. (correct answer bells)

(Tommy) I just won! Hurray! I did what exactly what I said I would do.

And that would be get four out of nine. Not bad.

(credits music)

All these different colors and smells,

my nose, my god.

I wish somebody would just fart or something to clean out my nose. (laughs)
