Many years ago ,

I was setting

in Spanish class

and I was in university

setting in my Spanish class another day of Spanish

ahhh waiting for the teacher.

and the teacher strolled in

and I am thinking ...oh! God .Another

.another terrible class and grammar rules and vocabulary list.

But on this day something different .

The teacher was pushing a cart right?! with wheels that had a T.V on top.

So instantly , everybody in the class sat more straight...

and smiled and there were a little bit of energy in the room

and we all looked at each other and everybody was happy.

This positive energy spread around the classroom.

And we all can have giggled and laughed hahaha and hohoho

Because we realize

that there was movie day. Yesssssss!!!

No boring grammar rules ,no boring vocabulary list,no task,no quizzes.

we’re gonna watch a movie .Yeaaaaaah!!!!

Movie day was always a happy day in school ,In any class

,but especially in Spanish class.

So the teacher put plug the T.V plugged in and of course there was a

VCR (Video cassette recorder ) in those days so,

they use tapes .There was a VCR

and the teacher put in the tape

and started the movie,

then she walked over and turned off the lights

so movie day was wonderful because it was a day we didn’t have to do anything .Right?!

There is no rules studying ,no work,no stress .The teacher wouldn’t call on us and force us to speak Spanish

And make us all stressed and worry ,so I sat back

ready to watch the movie

and the movie began

.And It was a story about ...I don’t know … Emog and Emogran coming to America from Mexico .

But because it’s Spanish class of course .The whole movie was in Spanish

,so the teacher walked over to her disk and sat down

,and started reading a book

and I can tell she was also happy because no work for her,right?!

just plug in the movie. Press play and set back in relax for the whole hour of the class .

So, in the beginning of the movie I watched it with good concentration

and of course that everybody speaking Spanish and I couldn’t understand anything.

.Basically ZERO Hahahaha .So I am watching ahhh !! Mmmh!!

but I am watching the pictures kind of following the story.

Kind of figuring out. Kind of understanding what was happening .

I managed to concentrate may be for ten

mintues

But then after ten minuets

I can feel my energy dropping down

and I start getting tired ,my shoulders drop down

and I leaned back aaa ah

We just enjoy the movie .

Ahhhh

And then after fifteen minutes,

my eyes get a little…

we say droopy meaning they Can get a flow like this (this is droopy eyes).

Some eyes get droopy.

Then I looked around the class room .

At the other students

ha ha ha.

I looked over to my right,

and l saw several students with their heads down

on their desk......... just like this.

Just sleeping or resting ...not even watching the movie

not even trying just……

Several others look like me, most of the others look like me.

So sitting kind of bored looking ahh

With these blank faces

Starring at the movie. But not understanding anything.

And it’s day that way for the entire..........class.

I got sleepier and sleepier, I didn’t fall a sleep. But .....

But I was kind of half a wake and half a sleep.

With this look of my face the whole time.

More and more people in the class my classmates put their heads down on their desks.

Some of them start whispering to each other ....

Passing notes to each other *bis bis hey* .

In English of course

Pre much no one in the class...

Paid attention to the whole movie

Because we couldn’t understand this at all.

Finally at the end of the class the teacher put down her book that she was reading ,

walked over,

Stopped the movie about half way. Because we couldn’t watch the whole thing,

The class was too short...

Walked over,flipped on the lights ,and the bell ring *brrrrinnng *

And we all stood up in colour books and hurried out of the class

Off to our next class.

An hour wasted.

But at least an hour without stress.

Later in my life I became an English teacher .

And I can remember

The several jobs that I had

Walking by classrooms of others' teachers.

And seeing the exact... same ...situation,

But in English.

Looking through the door, the window...

Seeing an English teacher .....*haha*

Bringing the television

*ha-ha*

Looking at the all happy faces of the students ,

Because yeaaahy an easy day of doing nothing.

And the teacher plugging in the television

put in it the movie...This time in English

Turning off the lights....

Pressing play.

The teacher also happy walking... to their desk

Usually reading a book. Or sometimes just....

putting ..you know .. in leaning back, and resting, and doing nothing

and……little bit …. all students in the class

Falling a sleep *khkh*/ *zzzz*.

That..... is how most people use movies ...or television shows

to learn English ....sadly. :/

Now in whole my know that ...you may try to learn English with T.V or movies.

Perhaps you turn on CNN

And you try to follow the news.

May be you watch a movie on Television.

You watch THE STAR network .Glitch PO.

Or whatever you can get in English.

You turned on

You press play.

And you watch the movie.

And of course what happens.

Usually the same thing that happened to me in my Spanish class,

The same thing that happened to all the students that I watched in English classes .
