The Steam summer sale kicks off, Amazon sells out of next-gen consoles, the Dota 2 beta
officially ends, the Firefall open beta officially begins, and more! Hey guys, Jess here! And
this is the Curse Weekly Roundup.
First up, the Steam Summer Sale has officially begun - the time of the year all PC gamers
look forward to most, even though we're not exactly thrilled about the effct it has on
our wallets. The sale started Thursday and lasts through July 23rd - but remember, in
addition to the normal sale prices, there are also Daily Deals and Flash Deals, so if
there's a game you wanna buy, I recommend waiting to see if gets discounted even further.
Next, Amazon has announced that they've sold out of all launch day units for the PS4 and
the Xbox One - so if you're the type who needs to have that next console on launch day - looks
like you'll be camping out outside of Best Buy. Evidently you can still preorder an Xbox
One from the Xbox Live Dashboard or from Microsoft.com, but I haven't heard of any sources still selling
launch day PS4s. Did any of you guys manage to snag a preorder? Leave me a comment and
let me know! And remember, in case you missed our 50,000 subscriber thank you video, we'll
be giving away several next-gen consoles if we can hit our goal of 150,000 subscribers
by December 1st!
Moving on, Dota 2 is officially out of beta! Now, I know this may be confusing as for over
two years and two separate million-dollar tournaments it functioned like a complete
game. Now with the launch, access is still restricted so as to not overload Valve's servers,
but if you're interested in playing, head to dota2.com and sign up - and if you wanna
hear more about the game be sure to tune in to our Dota 2 Update coming out tomorrow,
we'll put a link to that in the description of this video as soon as that one's up.
Next up, speaking of betas, Firefall has officially gone into open beta! It kicked off earlier
this week, and is completely free to play - but, you can purchase starter packs that
immediately unlock advanced Battleframes and also include cosmetic items, in-game currency,
a permanent xp boost, and an in-game title. They've also been celebrating the start of
open beta with things like Firefall Fest, new content in the game,a nd much more, and
you can click on the link in the description to read our full write-up about that! How
many of you guys have tried out Firefall so far? Leave me a comment and let me know if
you have!
And finally, finishing on a tragic note, Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis passed away last week. He
was known for being the co-founder of the site as well as host of the popular Giant
Bombcast, and passed away at the age of 34, less than a week after his wedding. His passing
is mourned by the gaming community, and our heart goes out to his friends, family, and
all those who grew to love him and his work.
That's all for this week, but as always be sure to subscribe if you haven't already,
and give us a thumbs up for gaming news! Thanks for watching, enjoy the game.
