- It was crazy, but really funny.

- I see it on Musical.ly a lot.

And I was like, "Where is this from?"

And I just kept watching it 'cause it's so funny.

- (children) Question time!

- (FBE) So what in the world was this? - I have no idea.

- Awkward!

- I've seen it somewhere.

But I don't know what it is for.

- It was this guy with an invisible pen and invisible apple.

- Apple pen for life!

- The apple pen pineapple pen!

(imitates cymbal crashing)

- That was the-the-the pen-- the-the wait-- the-the pen apple-- the-- oh god!

- It was funny. It was entertaining.

I loved it.

It was just very cheesy.

- (FBE) So this was the video for something referred

to as "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen." - "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen."

- "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen."

- That's like a tongue twister.

- (FBE) What do you think that means?

- I don't know.

- Probably some weird product.

- It's the ultimate fruity pen!

- It's a commercial for pineapple and apple smelling pens?

- A pen that looks like an apple and a pineapple?

(laughing) I don't know.

- I feel like it's gonna be something that makes no sense

and you're like, "How does that make sense with that video?"

- (FBE) So the video is by a comedian playing a character called Pico Taro.

- Pickin' what now?

- (FBE) The video was released very recently

and already has millions and millions of views on YouTube.

- (giggling) I can kind of see why.

- (FBE) So why do you think so many people

are watching this video?

- 'Cause they think it's funny.

But it's noooooot.

- It's funny for the other people to watch.

- Probably because everyone is like, "What even is this?!"

- Everyone likes some funny things.

- People like to watch weird things like The Harlem Shake.

It's exactly like that.

- (FBE) So, since the video's upload, hundreds and hundreds of videos

of people doing their own versions of this song and dance

has sprung up online. - Oh yeah, yeah.

I've seen some of those.

- (FBE) Why is that at thing now, that when a video goes viral

all of a sudden everyone wants to make their own version of it?

- I have no idea.

- They do it for the views.

- It's fun to make something famous your own!

- It would be fun because your friends would laugh and laugh and laugh.

- It's new.

They want to be the first people to know the new dance.

- It's kinda like a parody of something,

where you can-- for this, for example, you could add new fruits,

like a blueberry pen or something.

- (FBE) So finally, you know the words and you know the dance,

so we wanna see your best version of the Pen Pineapple Apple Pen.

- Oh no-- no! No!

♪ (catchy synthpop) ♪

- ♪ I have a pen ♪

♪ I have an apple ♪

- ♪ Put it together ♪
