After weeks of rumor and speculation, Microsoft has announced that it will be holding an event
on Tuesday, May 21st at 10am Pacific to unveil its next-generation Xbox, commonly referred
to as Durango or Xbox 720.
The invite just says “Xbox: A new generation revealed,” lending credence to the idea
that the new system will drop the subtitle and simply be called Xbox, like the current
iPad.
The event will take place at the company's Redmond, Washington campus.
Microsoft says that the event will quote "mark the beginning of a new generation of games,
TV, and entertainment," and will come accompanied with a live broadcast which you can watch
on IGN. The event will apparently be just an initial "taste," and Microsoft will save
its larger lineup of games for E3 in June.
That’s interesting, because Sony showed off a lot of PlayStation 4 games at its announcement.
Naturally, IGN will be on-the-ground at the event and offering live streaming coverage,
as well as in-depth analysis and features.
You may remember our in-depth coverage of the PlayStation 4 announcement. We’ll be
doing the same for the next Xbox with pre- and post-show commentary and special guests.
Come May 21, IGN will have everything Xbox fans need.
Until then, stay tuned to IGN.
