It's hard to believe now but people have been beheaded here and burned to death.

Most of the buildings were also destroyed during war.

Luckily though, these days it hosts more peaceful events and gatherings. It's also a UNESCO world

heritage site and is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the

world.

so, stroll around, explore the cafes and souvenir stores

and don't be afraid of this woman in the window who may suddenly start to move.

legend has it that touching the statue will bring you good luck. Most

likely it will just bring some kind of disease,

and you can often see tourist staring at it wondering whether they should

or shouldn't touch it.

But in the end, they always do.

And we won't tell them that this is not even the real statue. Actually it's in for conservation right now. So probably it won't bring any luck at all.

And of course, Brusselss is known for its famous waffles

So Claire's here to demonstrate

All over Brussels, all the tourists have been asking if I know where to find him.

This is the Manneken Pis.

existence but one thing's for sure - he's become a symbol of Brussels and

represents Belgian humor. And by the way, he has over eight hundred different

outfits he wears on special occasions. All the tourists come, take their picture

with him and they say, It's very small.

The Brussels metro may not be the most beautiful, but you can hear all kinds of music from weird pop sounds during the day to classical at night.

So, here we are in Place Ste-Catherine and as you can see, behind me is one of the most

impressive churches in Brussels. An interesting fact is that this square used to be a fish

market.

Let's move on to explore the nightlife.

I'm now on Rue Haute, which is a very popular hangout on Sundays.

It has a lot of interior design stores, coffee houses and even live music.

let's head to the Jeu de Balle market,

where you can find absolutely

anything.

I got this beautiful um,

magazines and so on.

And I am using it for my flat because we always have a lot of newspapers around

and I'm going to put it in the corridor and put the newspapers inside.

And I'm super happy about it. There's a lot of super nice stuff. Ya!

I got a warm hat because it's getting incredibly cold in Brussels. So, well-protected now.

One of the reasons Brussels is such an international city is thanks to its

EU quarter.

Here you'll find Europe's main institutions including the Commission, the Parliament

and the Council.

There's an EU summit going on today so we're not allowed any closer to the

buildings.

And as you can see, there are police and some barricades,

a lot of sirens.

there's also a lot of political action going on in and Baltic farmers

have been protesting.

Just another day in Brussels' EU quarter.

After all the commotion at the EU I'm now relaxing in Parc Leopold.

And there you have it, that's a glimpse of Brussels.

Of course, there's a lot more I could show you, a lot more people we could meet
