Hi, I am Jyothi Chabria. In this video, I will be talking about healthy food ideas for
children. Today, its mandate for children to understand what they eat because we see
so much of juvenile obesity. But there are lot of healthy options today which never were
in the earlier times. Today you have things like granola bars or the nutri bars which
are basically high fiber snacks which can be taken in a mid day meal or you know a meal
during the recess. Its like a snack and you have lot of options like pancakes today, where
you can add in flax seed powder or walnut and increase the nutrition value of those
things. There are also lots of millet's today which are being incorporated in to lot of
snacks like foxtail millet or finger millet which is rich in iron, calcium and fiber.
So you see a lot of children as in their growing years, especially in terms of girls, teenage
girls, the requirement for iron is definitely more because of menstruation. So, we would
always recommend children of that age group to have more of iron in terms of natural foods
like dates or jaggery, fox tail millet, finger millet and a lot of green leafy vegetables
like spinach or fenugreek, things like that.
