It was catchy and weird and obviously a lot of effort was put into it. The arrangement was really cool. - Yeah, it was. - It was epic. I felt like I was watching Carmina Burana or something. Yes. And the fact that he's in on it just makes it all worth it. I feel like Shia gets a lot of flack for being kind of crazy. And I feel like that is just him totally owning up to it and being like, "Yeah, okay, you know, I am." (Finebros) As a creator, what are your thoughts - on the production value of this video? - It was fantastic. It was like every minute was like a new thing. I was impressed the moment I saw the kids. We had girls coming down with the drapes and the curtains, and then you had the orchestra in the back. There's a lot of people who worked on that-- a lot of rehearsal, a lot of working on the prop heads. The production value was way too over the top. I think that's what made it so good. People have too much money and too much free time and watch too much internet. And altogether, happens like amazing things like this. (Finebros) Do you know anything about the origin of this? Nothing. Zero. I'm so curious. - Nothing. - No. I'm assuming it came from all the press about him being scary and drunk. I think I recognize the main singer. Is that Rob Cantor? I knew the song existed before this video existed. It was like a SoundCloud post, like an audio post on Tumblr. Somebody posted it and they were like, "What is this? Where did this come from?" And then it became like a meme within itself. I love the thought that Shia came across it and was totally down to just [bleep] around with the internet. (Finebros) This actually starts back in 2012, when Rob Cantor, who wrote and performed the song, uploaded just the song onto SoundCloud, which ended up organically going super-viral back then, with GIFs and memes posted all across Tumblr and social media. - Okay. - Oh my god, that's so Tumblr. How did I miss this? Tumblr is the place where the greatest and the most horrible stuff happens. (Finebros) We have a few of the memes that were made. I feel like I've probably seen these places and just not understood why they were happening. (Finebros) And here was the Wikipedia page for cannibalism - before somebody changed it back. - "Cannibalism." "A person who practices cannibalism is also called Shia LaBeouf." How long did that last before it was taken down? Shia, we're onto you. I love the internet. Trolls, trolls, trolls, trolls, trolls. (Finebros) So why do you think this took the internet by storm when it was just a song? It think it's so left field. The song itself is pretty shareable to me. The premise of the song is so crazy that it's just random enough to catch on. Shia LaBeouf is kind of a little bit crazy. And also, the internet just likes to make [bleep]ery happen. When I was seeing it reblogged and it had tons and tons of comments and stuff, everyone was like, confused, questioning, and then making their own fan art. This is the perfect prompt for the internet. (Finebros) Why do you think someone would even write this song in the first place, though? 'Cause he's a genius? (laughing) I don't know. Is he ever drunk maybe? That's when I get great ideas. He was ahead of his time. The songwriter knew how crazy Shia was gonna get. - It's from the future. - Yeah. He went in time and was like, "I'm going to capitalize on how crazy Shia's gonna become." We have the same when we're driving in our car. We just start saying random celebrities' names or, like, saying really weird things, and then we think it's hilarious. I bet you it's exactly that. And then, yeah, and then we make it into music numbers, like, from Broadway musicals. (Finebros) So Rob Cantor, who made the song, said he came up with it, quote, "by nothing but the sheer silliness of imagining Shia LaBeouf, face and clothes smeared with half-dried blood, terrorizing helpless victims in a dark wood." I love it. (laughs) Well, there you go. Dude, it's always funny when somebody eats people. It's like, Hannibal Lecter? Funny, that guy. He then went on to say, "Really it was more that his name, when whispered really intensely, just made me giggle." - (both laugh) - Oh, okay. I get that. (whispering) Shia LaBeouf. (laughing) It does. (whispering) Shia LaBeouf. (laughs uncontrollably) Okay, I feel it. You can't say that without kind of smiling. (Finebros) And what do you think of Shia that, when this happened, unlike a lot of celebrities that sometimes try to stop these things, he embraced it and even appeared in the video? That's hilarious. I think that speaks for his character. All celebrities should do this and have a little bit of humor. It always feels better when the celebrity's involved. I do pranks. So if somebody's cool about it, it's like, awesome, good sport. Even if he didn't like it, it was the best move that he could have made for everyone to have a positive image of him. Shia's the man. He gets so much [bleep] for being crazy and stuff. But, like, you're awesome! I love Shia. I think he's great. I think he's artistic. I think he's creative. I think he does things that a lot of celebrities wouldn't allow themselves to do. It's because so many celebrities will just have parodies deleted. I've always liked him. The more bizarre he is, the more I like him. I think the fact that he was able to take it, you know, in stride and even help out with it, I think that's pretty cool. (Finebros) So do you think that this was all just a joke? Or do you think Shia LaBeouf is actually a cannibal? It's got to be a joke, man. I don't think he's a cannibal. I think he's actually a cannibal. Oh, it was so serious. It's not a joke. I think that's the best cover, that he is actually a cannibal, so he might as well embrace this song. But, ha-ha, I'm gonna eat everyone. I don't think he was, but I think he might be now that the song came out. I don't think Shia LaBeouf's a cannibal. But even if I did think that, hypothetically, I wouldn't say that, 'cause then I'd be his next victim. What if that was just his weird way of telling the world? Oh, that'd be brilliant. - He's an artist. - (laughter) (Finebros) And finally, if he was a cannibal, - would you offer him flesh? - (laughs) No. I guess for the greater good of all of us, yes, I'll take one for the team. I would offer him the most useless flesh, like the elbow skin. I guess it would be like an honor to be like, "Here, you can have part of my foot, buddy." Who wouldn't want to say, "Yeah, I got eaten by Shia LaBeouf." He just ate a little bit of my arm." It would have to be just like a piece of skin or something that wouldn't hurt to remove from the body, then he'd have to eat it separately. I wouldn't want him to eat it off of me. That sounds painful. If I were to give Shia a bite of my arm, that's a great line in my Wikipedia and in his; win-win. Thanks so much for watching another episode of YouTubers React.
