This is how it looks – and 1, 2, 3;

1, 2 and, 3. Continue with Natural Turn,

4, 5, 6. Now this step doesn’t turn

essentially goes straight sideways down the line of dance.

We’re going to show you the steps together but separate,

so we’re going to have Wendy just stand a little bit off the side so

you can see both of us. We start at 45˚ angle

and we have step 1 – 1 man’s left; lady’s right.

Step 2 - the man turns a little bit in his body

to the right, places his right foot underneath his right shoulder;

think of the same floor board. The ladies make a little turn to your right;

turn the feet on the toes. We now dance back; man’s left foot;

lady’s right foot. Back behind the other foot

and come down on that foot. Both knees bend.

That’s called “The Whisk”. Chasse, we step across, 1.

We go up onto our toes and dance 3 little steps, side together side;

side together side. Come down that last step.

The count for the Chasse because it’s 4 steps

is 1, 2 and, 3. The 2nd beat #2 split in half –

1, 2 and, 3. So we show that to you again –

The Whisk - and 1 going up on the toes;

2 going backwards; 3 coming down. And Chasse - 1, 2 and, 3.

The man doesn’t have to worry too much about turning.

He’s going to keep parallel to the lady in his body, shoulders and hips;

and 1, 2 and, 3. Always keeping parallel,

another word if you turn like that, that would be a mistake.

The lady always keeps parallel to the man, but she has the additional responsibility

of turning her head on the Whisk, 1, 2, 3.

And then taking the 1st step and turn the head back to the left on the

Chasse. This is important because if the lady

does not turn her head back, you’ll have trouble continuing stepping

back on the next step.

So, we do this – and 1, 2, 3;

1, 2 and, 3. If we continue,

the man will not step between the lady’s feet

because that’ll hit the lady’s right foot. In dancing,

the person going forward whenever the feet are apart,

like we are now, the person going forward has to go outside

with the right foot. Lady’s back left, we continue with the right

turn, 4, 5, 6.

The man leads the step by going up, faster than normal

and dancing the lady back behind him. If I do this by myself,

I want to go 1, up and back. The idea of going up and back

will give her the signal to dance the Whisk. I’ll do it again.

And 1, up for 2, back for 3. Staying parallel as much as we can,

1, 2 and, 3; turning right 2, 3.

There’s your Whisk and Chasse. Now, we’re going to dance this

in music down the room for you.
