Nominated for at least 1 Game of the Year Award... probably, maybe, somewhere, Goat Simulator took the PC world by storm and is now on mobile. Navigate your little goat body through this sandbox town: head butting everything, slapping your tongue against stuff, going on trampolines and cruising with a jetpack… or ya know be spider goat or a classy goat...which is just a penguin But instead of blasting away yourself, blast away alien robots in Robots Love Ice Cream. You drive around different worlds in your ice cream truck shooting all sorts of ice cream stealing bots out of the sky. As you go about protecting the sugary frozen dairy products of the galaxy, collect gold sprinkles to upgrade your ride and upgrade your ammunition to such delicious destruction as Hot Fudge Fun Day or Boomsicle. After rollin down those rocky roads in your ice cream truck of frosty freedom, roll down a mountain in Roller Polar a simple but addictive game that has you as an adorable little polar bear. He has to ride his ever accelerating snowball while jumping over rocks, trees and other forest critters. Once the bear gets knocked off however, you must start from the beginning. Curse you, Snow Man. Curse youuuu! It’s alright, I’ll just let out my frustration with Tap Titans. You play as a hero, who looks a bit like Cloud, slicing away at evil Titans. The game’s controls are pretty easy, you tap...forever. The faster you tap or more fingers you use, the more quickly you’ll dispatch of villains and acquire their gold. Use that to level up your character, unlock special abilities, and hire other team mates to help you. That’s a lot of tapping so give your fingers some sleep… Muji to Sleep. Muji to Sleep is an app that plays different ambient backgrounds. You can choose from ones like forest, birds or campfire. Then set the timer for how long you think it’ll take to lull you to sleep. *snores* Wha? 0h h1, a puzzle game where you fill in the board with either blue or red. But beware because no two rows or columns can be the same, you must have an even number of each color per row and column and you can’t have more than 3 of the same color touching. It gets tricky the larger grid you pick but with every round randomly generating new starting points you’ll get plenty of practice Out There. Out There is a very intense game. You’re stranded somewhere in deep space and must find your way home with what little resources you have. It might look a bit like Faster Than Light but that’s about where the comparison ends. Every time you jump from one solar system to the next you’re greeted with a text telling you what happened during the journey or a decision you must make. You strategically pick which planets to explore in that given solar system, looking for more fuel, oxygen or elements to strengthen your hull. As you travel from planet to planet you’ll encounter alien races or get lucky and find a baron but better ship. And you’ll also die...a lot because trial and error is what this game is a spout: monochrome mission. Fly your craft around, avoiding asteroids in this minimalist retro game. There are bombs to hit that break apart obstacles and you can use the particles from your booster to demolish the things around you pixel by pixel. But why you breaking apart all those shapes? You some kind of Shapist? Shapist has no title screen, no menu and no instructions. It starts off as a basic block sliding game but gets increasingly more difficult. Once you solve a puzzle and reveal the grey door you go through it revealing the next challenge. The deeper you go, the more variety is thrown at you like springs and blocks that are magnetic so you must use their opposite and equal poles to figure out the levels. Once solving that puzzle, solve who stole your fortune in my favorite app this episode… Leo’s Fortune. This game is a gorgeous side-scrolling platformer. Our protagonist, Leo, a fuzzy blue ball with an incredibly fancy moustache, wakes up to find his gold stolen so he sets out on a journey to retrieve it, picking up pieces of it through each level. Leo investigates which member of his family could be responsible for the crime all while slipping and jumping over cogs, spikes, and lush landscapes - solving puzzles along the way to open up his path. The sound design, the visuals, the story and Leo’s voice all make this game a really great experience. Links and prices to all the apps can be found in the description below.
