With flatwater loops, we really want to dial in our bow stalls to the point that we can
-
begin balancing our boat vertically on end. The balance come from beginning with a small
-
pushing motion of your paddle, but then once you're up on end, you're actually going to
-
dive your paddle into the water and try and pull your bow even deeper underneath the surface.
-
This pulling motion will really dive the boat fully under water, and then your paddle is
-
right near the surface so you can begin launching up and forward and begin that forward somersault
-
of the loop. As you pull your paddle up to the surface, I roll my wrist backwards so
-
I break that surface tension even easier, then launch forward, and create the loop just
-
like the end part. You want to forward somersault and then at the very end of, you're going
-
to throw your weight back to finish that forward somersault off. Take a look.
