  • You're all excellent at counting and hopping.

  • I know another excellent hopper.

  • I'll show you.

  • They're gonna need lots of room though.

  • Let's move this out of the way.

  • Take a look.

  • Ready?

  • Hop.

  • I'll show you how you can make a hopping frog craft

  • like this at home.

  • Let's gather some of the things we need.

  • Some things we need for this craft are

  • a glue stick,

  • googly eyes,

  • paper cups,

  • and a grown-up.

  • To get started, we'll use our paper cups

  • to make the base of our jumping frog

  • and you might need a grown-up to help you with this part.

  • We're gonna make two cuts an inch away from each other

  • about halfway up the cup

  • and the exact same thing from the other side

  • and these cups are perfect because they're green.

  • They're perfect for frogs.

  • Then fold those cuts that you made up the cup like that

  • and take an elastic band, this one's green too,

  • and loop it around one of those flaps.

  • Then take a stapler and staple it in place.

  • Now twist your elastic band to make an X shape like that

  • and loop it around the other flap

  • and this part's a little tricky.

  • Gotta take your stapler and staple that in place too

  • and now we have the base for our jumping frog.

  • It goes on top of the other cup, like that.

  • You pull down and let go.

  • Woo.

  • And it hops.

  • It's all ready to go.

  • All we need is our frog.

  • So to make the body,

  • I cut a perfect circle out of dark green paper

  • and to make the legs, take a lighter green piece of paper

  • and fold it in half

  • and we'll draw a frog leg.

  • It looks like half a heart shape

  • and then three little toes at the bottom, like that.

  • Then, we cut it out and open it up

  • and then cut it in half.

  • So we have two frog legs that are the exact same

  • and we'll glue that on to our frog body.

  • A little bit of glue on either side

  • and we'll stick it on to the circle.

  • That's looking more and more like a frog.

  • And now we can decorate our frog's body.

  • I have a green dotter here,

  • but you could use a crayon or markers.

  • Now it's a speckled frog.

  • And we'll add some eyes to our frog.

  • You can draw some eyes or use googly eyes.

  • It's kind of cute to have the eyes sort of sticking off

  • of the frog's body like that.

  • There we go.

  • Now we'll make a face with a black marker.

  • A nose and a big smile.

  • But it's still missing something.

  • It needs its long, sticky tongue.

  • So I cut a tongue shape out of a red piece of paper

  • and if you twirl it around a pencil like that,

  • it makes it kinda twirly.

  • How neat is that?

  • We'll add some glue.

  • Stick it onto our frog mouth.

  • Ta da.

  • Now our frog is ready to go on the base of our frog craft

  • and I have some double sided tape on here,

  • but you could use glue.

  • Whatever you like to stick it onto the cup just like that.

  • There we go.

  • And our frog is ready to hop.

  • Ready to see our froggy hop?

  • Put it on top of the other cup.

  • We'll push down.

  • Let's count to three.

  • One, two, three!

  • Whoa.

  • Let's try it again!

  • Push down.

  • One, two, three!

  • Hop!

  • That's so much fun.

  • I hope that you make this jumping frog craft at home.

  • It's a lotta fun to play with.

  • All of you are a lot of fun to play with, too!

  • I had a great time playing in the classroom with you today!
