  • we're on the road again, we left a sky ranch hotel about a little over an hour ago.

  • Um and yeah, we're ready for our next destination.

  • We actually for the first hour was going through the mountains.

  • That was a pretty fun drive actually like I mean I'm driving so because I can't do any roses on the passenger seat when I'm driving and I actually kind of enjoyed those roads because it's a little bit different.

  • It's not just like a straight shot where I tend to kind of like and start to fall asleep.

  • So I actually don't mind driving those roads and at a certain point there was a scenic overlook and we stopped at it.

  • It was underwhelming.

  • I don't think it's worth this.

  • Yeah, they have like a native american market there because we saw people setting up booths and stuff, they're wondering what it was, but when we're going out, I said a native american market.

  • So if you're interested in those goods you can get them there.

  • But it's in between Sedona and Flagstaff, we go through the mountains, Candy said, and we're going through forests and stuff so that that was very pretty.

  • But the actual scenic overlook was so underwhelming.

  • But the good thing is there's a bathroom there so which looks like they just recently renovated it.

  • So today we are on our way to capitol reef and on the way is birch railroad, which I feel wanting to do and uh it's supposed to be really scenic views with like the switchbacks that you can see of the road from up above.

  • Hopefully we'll find it.

  • I mean everybody says Burr Trail road.

  • So I'm just really hoping that as we call on this road, we'll actually see it.

  • So today we're staying at Red Sands Hotel, which is really close to Capitol Reef National Park because we're going to check out Capitol Reef tomorrow and Capitol Reef is not as popular as the other national parks in Utah because there's the mighty Five is what they call it in Utah.

  • They have Zion National Park, which we've done.

  • They have Rice Canyon and I decided to skip this one because it didn't look, it looks cool but not as cool as the other ones to me.

  • And then they have Capitol Reef folks.

  • We're going to, they have arches, which we're going to and then the last one is Canyon lands National Park.

  • So I think I felt like canyon lands was more rugged and it wasn't really our style because you can actually take Canyon lands two arches and like this really cool road, but it's all dirt, very ragged cars equipped for that.

  • Yeah, I watched this one Guy's Youtube video and it looks terrifying to me because you're going on these dirt roads on these switchbacks really high up and I'm like, I don't know if we could do this.

  • I'm actually pretty excited to go to Capitol Reef because it doesn't get that much recognition.

  • And so it's kind of like a, I don't know, I feel like I'm going to be surprised when I see it because I do see Rice Canyon a lot and photos or on social media and I never see capitol reef.

  • Actually when I think of the new capitol reef, I'm like, are we going to the ocean?

  • Like we're gonna go see coral reefs.

  • I don't know why that pops in my head.

  • But of course, I know that's what we're going to go to.

  • So yeah, I like that we're doing something a little bit more popular, but I think it's underrated.

  • I haven't actually been there yet.

  • But from what I saw from the videos I viewed, I mean it looked a little underrated to me.

  • Kind of wonder like why more people don't talk about this place or go to this place.

  • I guess we'll find out.

  • We'll find out.

  • Yeah.

  • They also have a point there.

  • I think it's called panorama viewpoint, but they're supposed to have the best panoramic views for nighttime viewing the sky.

  • So I'm hoping to take the photographs there at night if we make it, if we're not too tired.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Mhm Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • We're in Utah now Candy drove most of the way through Arizona from Sedona and now I'm taking over until it becomes a little windy on the road because Candy is not going to be able to handle it.

  • So she's taking a little nap.

  • The views have been really gorgeous.

  • Like outrageously gorgeous.

  • Like I thought, you know, my drive was cool from florida to California, but this drive that we're doing now in Arizona and Utah is just amazing.

  • We just stopped by page Arizona where we have been before we actually went to horse.

  • You've been an antelope canyon with our girlfriends a few years ago and had a really great time.

  • So it's kind of this object to pass by that town again and we stopped by for some lunch.

  • A little early lunch is 11 17.

  • There's like some fast food places like Mcdonalds, taco bell sonic.

  • There's also a big walmart.

  • So if you need to stock up some things you can't go there.

  • But yeah, we've got about four more hours until we hit burr Trail road, which is supposed to star around boulder Utah.

  • Um, but yeah, I'm just gonna stay quiet so candy could sleep and enjoy the views.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • Mm hmm.

  • So this is a nice rest area stop.

  • It's called shingle Creek rest area.

  • The views are really nice here.

  • Too nice area for pets to work.

  • Mhm.

  • I wish there doing right there.

  • We're about 2.5 hours away from Burr Trail road.

  • We've been stopping by rest stops and gas stations whenever we see one just in case we need to go before we hit Bertram because I'm not sure what the restroom situation is like around that area.

  • So there's lots of cyclists what's up with that is, it's like a big like cycle, but there's this car in front of us that says caution bicycles ahead.

  • I mean, it must be like some something must be going on or it's just like a road that cyclists go on and challenge themselves.

  • I don't know because like Glacier National Park was like that there's like a lot of cyclists, it's just like something they want to do.

  • I get scared when I come across them because I don't want to run over there.

  • It's a two way here.

  • So that's that's why it scares me because it's really, really slim.

  • Yeah.

  • And they're like, you know, in the mountains and you're swerving like 70 mph in some areas.

  • So it's like scary to have like bikes out here without, they don't have their own designated lane.

  • So that's why, you know, I think once it gets really windy candy and I will switch again.

  • Yes, switch candy has been trying to take a nap, but she's been in and out because her husband lobbying or I've been playing like loud music so well, you know, like I I was thinking before this trip, like, should I bring a neck pillow and you know what, I should have followed my instincts and brought it well, because, you know those neck pillows, you only think about it for flights, but you know, it actually does come in handy on long road trip they do.

  • So that's an essential bring travel pillow.

  • That's one thing I did not.

  • These are cool.

  • I said it was like what created in 1925 or something african.

  • He said something like that.

  • There's like a little sign that we kind of stopped over so we could look at this cool tunnel, wow, Pretty neat.

  • I like how there was two.

  • Yeah, there's two because like if you missed the first one, I was like, oh we missed it and then we came in second.

  • Like we're falling over I guess when they opened up bryce Canyon, they had this little opening ceremony and then like something about, they had these kids dressed up as like fairies going through there.

  • So they basically call it like when you go into bryce canyon, it's imagine you're going into a magical place or something like that.

  • Something like there's a meaning behind it.

  • Very cool.

  • It's very nice that they did something like that.

  • So now we're in the bryce canyon area, it's a very red, super red.

  • Said it's from the limestone or something like that.

  • You notice it when you drive into bryce canyon area like, oh this is bryce canyon for sure.

  • Yeah, you can definitely tell and the ridge marks that it has and kind of like the cone shaped rocks that they have that Pretty much what Bryce Canyon rocks are known for two or what I've seen in pictures at least.

  • Yeah, we just passed through the town of escalante and filled out some filled up on some gas there and also use the restroom again because now we're an hour away from the Bird trail road um started Birding trail road.

  • So I just want it again, get our bathroom break in and just to make sure we'll have enough gas and don't run out of gas.

  • Yeah, surprisingly no one's been wearing a mask and in this area, I mean we still wear ours but we walked in the comedian store or the gas station store and no one around is wearing a mask.

  • So I'm like, ok, that's interesting.

  • Yeah, it gets, the more we go on this road trip, the further we go into Utah especially it's, you see less and less people wearing masks, which is a huge difference from California, you know because and even parts of Arizona to, because it's just so mandatory to wear masks and you're used to people seeing or you're used to seeing people wearing masks all the time.

  • And then you come here like there are little towns but still it's like when you don't see people wearing masks anymore, like they're not wearing a, this is kind of weird.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Yeah.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Okay.

  • So we're on bird trail road now.

  • Um, but I'm just like a little bit confused on how far we go on bird trail before we make that left or right towards tori where our hotel is.

  • So we're kind of just like scoping it out right now It did say Dirt Road for like 75 miles or it's a dirt road, 25 miles.

  • I don't know if that means like dirt road in 75 miles or it's like an hour road, five miles.

  • I have no idea.

  • I don't know.

  • We might just like if nothing happens, I don't know who might just go towards the hotel because it keeps on making us go left towards the whole towards Tori.

  • Mm hmm.

  • But I kind of want to see what else is on the trail.

  • I guess we'll turn around.

  • Let's turn around and go back that way.

  • Maybe I didn't do the right research, you know, because I saw that people were taking pictures of bird trail road um from up above somewhere and I don't know exactly where that's at.

  • So maybe it's not bird trail roper say that we have to actually be on, you know?

  • But I'm not 100% sure if anybody knows.

  • Please let us know.

  • Hey mr cow.

  • Oh, it's a cute hi, get out.

  • Oh, just looking back at us.

  • Mm hmm.

  • I don't want to go back and see it.

  • I don't know if it's gonna come towards us.

  • Like, well if another car comes, we're back on Utah Highway 12 and we were going down the trail road for a little bit, but then we were getting unsure of where we were going or if we should even go further because google mask about taking us towards the left and then there was like these dirt roads, but then if we go straight, it looked like there was nothing and then we kept on seeing signs, I was like, it's dangerous or not dangerous, but they're like, just if you have trailers, we recommend you not going this route.

  • So, and it's getting dark.

  • Well it looks, it looks gloomy right now, like it's about to rain and you know, in two hours it'll probably get dark.

  • So we decided to turn around and just go back on the highway towards the hotel And we're like, you know what?

  • We should just ask the hotel and see what they say I mean, cause if we really wanted to do it, we're only 45 minutes away from that starting point.

  • Um, but then I don't know how long it takes to get to whatever we're looking for.

  • Just like a specific spot.

  • Yeah, so better be safe.

  • That's all, we're almost done At our hotel, only four minutes away.

  • But it looks like we're in the middle of nowhere.

  • So all of a sudden this town is supposed to appear like, where is this town?

  • I feel like there's nothing out here.

  • I'm kind of hungry.

  • A little tired.

  • Yeah, I'm actually really tired.

  • Really tired.

  • Yeah, I think it's hitting me now.

  • Yeah, I think we're both really tired right now in a quarter-mile turn left onto Utah 24 West.

  • Yeah, there's the gas station.

  • Okay.

  • Okay.

  • Now we're starting to see some things, but yeah, I was getting a little worried for a little bit there.

  • Yes.

  • Tory cavil Reef.

  • Is that way?

  • Tori is this way?

  • Here it is.

  • Red sands hotel.

  • Yeah, we have a great view.

  • There's cows in the back of your destination is on the left.

  • There's grass kuma.

  • We just made it into Torrey Utah, which is right by Capitol Reef National Park and we're staying at the red Sands Hotel.

  • So far.

  • First impressions, this place is really great customer service was top notch lives Candy right behind me.

  • She's already resting.

  • Yeah, I'm pretty tired.

  • We're both pretty tired and we are on the first floor in room 1 12.

  • We're at the very end by the restaurant and on the back of the hotel we saw a nice view with some cliffs or rocks that you can see in the distance.

  • This view you don't get much.

  • Did you get the parking lot of you?

  • But I just have some cows.

  • There's some cows out there.

  • I think there was cows in the back to paul then.

  • So we have cows everywhere around here.

  • It seems like, um, I'm pretty excited to stay here.

  • Just ordered a burger at this place called the capital burger.

  • Candy got a mushroom burger.

  • So it's not all beef.

  • I got a bacon burger.

  • I love beef.

  • It's just it's hard on my stomach.

  • So I want to risk sitting in the bathroom all night.

  • Yeah.

  • But this place had like five star yelp reviews and it's right down the road from our hotels.

  • So I thought it would be a good place to check out.

  • And you know, feed my hungry tummy.

  • They're really friendly to areas.

  • So cute.

  • It is really cute.

  • I like this little area.

  • It's nice.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Mhm.

we're on the road again, we left a sky ranch hotel about a little over an hour ago.
