(upbeat music) So I'm a stand-up comedian, which means I travel a lot, which means my skin is dry and crusty and just needs all the love it can get. I once had a dermatologist tell me that my skin type was stale bagel, so let's, let's just say the theme of my skincare at night is moisture. Let's get started. Today I did press for "Dollface", this show that I'm on, and I have so much makeup on. And see, the thing about all this glam is it's so hard for me to take it off my face because this was expensive. It's really hard for me to take it off, but I'm going to, and the first step on a day like today where I have a ton of makeup on my face is a face wipe. I am obsessed with these, they're by Skinfood, and they're just called the Rice Daily Brightening Cleansing Tissue, and I like them 'cause there's no harsh chemicals. They're affordable, which is super important to me. I just go to town with them. So you just wipe, and it's not like going to the bathroom where you need to front to back, so, or is it back, yeah front to back. I always get it confused. I had a UTI recently, I should've figured this out. So I know there's a lot of hardcore skincare junkies out there who will swear by never going to bed with their makeup on. I'd love to tell you I'm one of them, but I'm not. I do stand-up comedy, so I am out so late and when I get home sometimes, I'm way too tired. I'll kick back, take an edible, drink some sparkling water and I'm like, I can't do the full routine. So I'll either reach for a wipe and then skip the rest of the process. Sometimes I'll even just sleep in my eye makeup. Sometimes I'm so lazy when I do a show because I know it's gonna be late and I'm gonna wanna sleep after, I won't even do face makeup. I'll just do eye makeup, so that I kinda don't technically have to wash my face. That's really bad advice. If you listen to me, you're gonna end up with a stye. I know this seems random, but I also like to hydrate during my skincare routine, because it's kinda like, "Okay, we do, cram all this skincare stuff in one moment, "drink your water, moisturize, maybe take a supplement." Lots of little lashes. I love individuals. I also have a really hard time removing makeup, so sometimes I'll throw in, I have these reusable cotton pads and I'll just throw some of a micellar water, this is the Drunk Elephant one, just go in. Go extra. So I learn a lot about skincare from my makeup artist, Brittany Leslie, and she actually is always getting on me about how I'll keep her eye makeup on for several days, and she'll be like, "Esther, you just tagged me in a photo "of you wearing the makeup I did for you three days ago "and you're in the bathtub and that's a problem." Also, this is random, but I'm not good at decorating, so the way I do it, I feel like is like a college kid. In my bathroom, I just have random Polaroids of my dog, and then McDonald's 90s Happy Meal toys. Just things that make me happy at night. Okay, so the majority of the makeup is off, so now I'm gonna wash my face and I really, I like to switch it up with cleansers. I used to co-host a skincare podcast called Glowing Up, so we always wanted to try everything that came out, so I have so many cleansers. And some of my favorites are this Murad Hydration Prebiotic 4-in-1 Multi Cleanser, I really love this one, and sometimes I'll use the Shani Darden cleanser. My friend Shay Mitchell taught me about her stuff. Gonna wash my face. Okay. It's actually really stupid to wash my face with rings on. I don't know why I did that. I also recently got three tattoos in one month. I'm not having a mental breakdown, you are. This is making me miss being a kid when my mom would wash my face for me. Wait, my mom never washed my face for me. Oh my God, pro tip, I read this in Maria Menounos' book 10 years ago and I still follow this rule, but she said the easiest way to make your bathroom seem chic is to have white washcloths rolled up, and so I always have clean new white washcloths, especially for drying my face and also for washing. If Maria Menounos ever comes to my house, she's gonna be so impressed. I actually have this joke in my stand-up act about how I'm aging weird, because I don't have a ton of wrinkles but I wake up in the morning swollen, and I'm like, "Maybe I'm aging better "because of this red light thing." I don't really know. Okay, okay, and this is my child obviously. Do you need skincare? Do you have my genetics? Oh, I forgot, the best part of my skincare routine is right after I put on my moisturizer and my dog licks it off my face. That's why I have to use all-natural stuff. If I were stranded on a desert island and I could have one skincare product, I think it would be a tie between these two moisturizers, but basically my answer is it would be a super hydrating moisturizer. So it would either be the Drunk Elephant F-Balm, which is, it's actually supposed to be a mask, but I wear it as literally just a moisturizer. I never wipe this off my face. It absorbs right into my skin because I am so dry. Sometimes I'll even mix it with this Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. Another thing I learned from hosting the skincare product is it's all about the ingredients and what are those superstar ingredients you need to have in your product, and for me, that's vitamin C. I find that that's a skincare ingredient that actually lives up to the hype, so a good vitamin C serum is absolutely necessary. Right now, I'm using the Youth to the People 15% Vitamin C, and Clean Caffeine Energy Serum. Also, I don't know if it's just I love coffee so much, but anytime a skincare product has caffeine in the ingredients, I'm always like, "Oh, I'll get that one!" I have a caffeinated eye cream. I just, anything with caffeine, throw it on my face, except for my oat milk latte. So I'll just do a little bit of this C serum. Okay, I know that there's a lot of controversy on the Internet about my lips, and it's not the kind that Kylie has, okay? It's not that they're too big. It's that they're too crusty. I literally get DMs every day. "Use Chapstick." "Use Aquaphor." "You have dry lips." "Drink water." I can't help you guys. My lips are crusty and crinkly and cracked all the time. I'm done trying. My makeup artist though fights me on this, and she just gave me this by Nudestix, the Hydra-Peptide Lip Butter Shea and Avocado. So I will throw this on at the end of my nighttime skincare routine, and let it try to help the driest lips on the Internet. And this Murad moisturizer also has vitamin C, so look, if it stops you from getting colds, it obviously does something good to your face, so give me all the vitamin C. If they made an orange juice themed skincare line, I would probably buy every single product. So that has been my nighttime skincare routine and I hope that I have inspired you to hydrate as much as I do. And I hope you guys check out the new season of "Dollface". All episodes are on Hulu February 11th.
