  • My favorite beverage of choice caches, black current liqueur.

  • So fancy.

  • So much luxury.

  • If you have a luxury robe, please put it on now before the show starts.

  • Now that we're all here and ready.

  • Let's begin luxury.

  • Our with talky talky traveler.

  • Good evening lads.

  • As you know it is luxury.

  • Our I am in my robe.

  • It is 11 p.m. I have beverage and we're ready to make a video.

  • Why did I choose to make a video at 11 PM?

  • Sometimes things are out of our control.

  • This was in my control, but I, I had all day to make this video, but instead here we are at 11 PM luxury.

  • Our everybody cheers to that if you guys are unaware.

  • I have one big viral video of me living in a tiny little apartment.

  • If you don't know, maybe this will ring some bells.

  • I can't stretch my arms so I get recommended.

  • My little tiny apartment video all the time just pops up everywhere.

  • It's like, hey Emma, did you remember to watch this yet, Emma, you've been mentioning anything?

  • Did you watch this?

  • Hey Emma, I have not seen that video in many years.

  • I actually can't remember the last time that I watched it.

  • I thought why not?

  • Let's have a little luxury time and watch my video.

  • Is this a little bit of mindless self indulgence or is this actually a good idea for a video.

  • Let's find out together in luxury.

  • our four years, it's been four years also I'm going to take stuff.

  • I'm actually quite warm.

  • Am I ready to see for four years ago?

  • Emma, I guess.

  • So here we go.

  • 3 2, 1 go.

  • Hello.

  • So if you're new to my channel, my name is Emma, I'm from Australia and I've been living in Japan now for almost seven months, seven months.

  • Really small.

  • What a baby, seven months apartment in Japan.

  • And I did an apartment tour ages and ages ago when I first moved in here and I thought that I'd do an update because when I first did the video, I hadn't bought that much stuff, I was just like just settling in.

  • So it kind of looked a bit audio.

  • I had a really crappy camera at that point and all of the S.

  • S.

  • And T.

  • S really picked up in the in the mic in the camera.

  • And so it always piques when there's an S.

  • R.

  • T.

  • It's so grating on the ears your film with what you've got and that's what I had.

  • Also, I sound so quiet.

  • I sound like I'm whispering, I've changed a few things.

  • Just added a little bit of a homely feeling and I thought that I would just, you know, update you guys and show you what I've done with the really limited amount of space that I have for anyone who wants to know my apartment is 8 m2.

  • Uh and I can touch both walls.

  • So right now I'm touching both walls.

  • You can't really see the amount of comments I got that were like, just turned 90°. Just turn the other way.

  • You can stretch your arms and like, okay, fair point.

  • This video is almost 19 minutes long, 19 minutes.

  • That's a long video.

  • I am not sharing with anyone.

  • This is all my space.

  • Thank you.

  • Another really quick thing.

  • So in this video, I'm like, I'm not sharing with anyone, thank goodness you know, quick history to this before this one.

  • I was staying in another apartment that was just So small.

  • I was only there for 15 days, but it was like, it was a closet, there were no windows.

  • I could hear everyone.

  • It was just a horrible, horrible experience.

  • So going from that to this was like, Oh wow, it's so big and spacious and great.

  • So, so that's another reason why I'm so positive and excited about this place is because I just come from worse.

  • I was pretty excited.

  • I love this place.

  • This is the green card.

  • So this is where you take off your shoes.

  • That's my dirty laundry as well.

  • This is not going well.

  • I still have that towel.

  • I can't throw towels out.

  • Are you supposed to throw towels out and that towels from my child tell it like high school.

  • So I've got a concert ticket.

  • I'm going to see if anyone is still loving to shake our very wonderful, great band.

  • Next up, we have just the cooking appliances.

  • So I've got my tiny little so we're listening to myself talk.

  • It doesn't feel like it's me.

  • I don't know what's going on, but I'm like, I feel so different.

  • She's like a different person.

  • It's crazy.

  • I mean we're still the same person.

  • But yeah, it feels so different.

  • Post robin here.

  • It's got a little tray and then I've got my microwave here.

  • It's kind of self explanatory.

  • I've got all my dishes frying pan.

  • I haven't seen this stuff in so long.

  • Like seeing the furniture is like bringing me back.

  • I'm like, oh my God.

  • Yeah.

  • I just completely forgot about that cabinet and all the stuff that I had in it.

  • This draw is for important stuff.

  • You know, if something comes in the mail, I can't read it because it's in japanese.

  • I put it in here and I forget about it.

  • Never do what Emma did.

  • I can't read it.

  • So I put it in a drawer.

  • Never do that big big psa.

  • Never do that.

  • Read your stuff, google translate it.

  • Bring a friend over, do whatever you can do, not ignore things, please, please don't do that.

  • Learn from my mistakes is what it looks like from my point of view.

  • So so small, So small.

  • Just so you get a good idea.

  • Okay, my hands and soap, which if you, I still have my hand soap.

  • Okay so this is the rest of my house other than the loft upstairs.

  • Yeah so this is it, this is my favorite markets.

  • G G G G.

  • I still got a mug you know I do like how optimistic I was that I could keep a maiden hair fern alive in that space With literally zero light, 0 Sky where it is, there is there was nothing and I'm like yeah made and have fun, I can do that.

  • But yeah this ball here died.

  • This little ball died, it's kind of ugly but I made it if you've seen any of my past videos there was an episode where I got a tiny tree and it was really cute and I loved it to pieces, it just wasn't happy.

  • I really, really tried to keep it alive outside.

  • I'm trying to resuscitate, I had to take it all apart.

  • So this is the mosque from that trying to keep this guy baby, I'm just not good at taking care of plants.

  • No it's not you Emma, it wasn't me, It was zero sum zero, literally 0 sunlight, no human can live like that, let alone a plant.

  • So this is my bathroom.

  • Hello bathroom.

  • If you haven't seen the first video and you might be wondering where is my toilet toilet, what you do is you just grab the sink and you pull it out and today is the toilet counted in this place, is that drain?

  • There is a very interesting if anyone's squeamish look away now, but this is what the drain looked like when I opened it, it's mega.

  • I was, I was like, maybe I've seen worse by this point, I'm like, nah, that's disgusting, that's so gross.

  • So japanese drains are so different to Western drains or the drains at least in Australia, even my kitchen drain, you know, there's like a whole thing where there's like a basket that you pull out and then there's another thing down the bottom that you pull out there like this, it's so intricate, you don't get told about it, you just have to figure it out and be like something smells, Where is that coming from?

  • Oh yeah, everything's messed up in there.

  • I guess you get used to it, you get there, I'll show you my little air plant that I keep up here when I first got him, he was very small, so he's actually very happy died.

  • Alright, so this is the main area.

  • I like to keep it as clean as possible.

  • So no things anywhere that makes sense.

  • The only thing I'm not happy with is all these chords because I haven't really found a way put them away or me and me and Taylor have this inside joke about the courts because I had like this flood of comments, like so many, so many comments were like, and then you need a pool noodle, like if you get a pool noodle, you can cut it and transform it into a thing that will be really good for sorting cables.

  • Like you need a pool noodle.

  • I got so many comments telling me to buy a pool noodle to sort my cables and one of the points where the hell do you get a pool noodle in Tokyo?

  • I have never seen a pool noodle in Tokyo.

  • Pool noodles are not like easy access in Tokyo.

  • Not many people need pool noodles, look at her, look at her sitting on the floor with her feet against the wall, just like a baby.

  • It hasn't been that long, but I've seen some things, I have learned some lessons.

  • Well do I know in four years time I'll be watching this video and reacting to me reacting to the tiny apartment Mhm I'm going so british, get out of british, go back to Ozzy is because I get comments telling me all kinds of business about my accent.

  • People think I've gone, I'm fully going american, you'll think I'm losing my Australian heritage, I'm losing my Australian accent or I'm losing my british blah.

  • I'm all over the place and I always have been and I felt that I had to make excuses for myself, but it's just an accent, it doesn't matter, poor Emma, you're okay if you don't know my parents are british, I'm Australian accent goes all over the place.

  • That's true.

  • Sorry about that.

  • No lies stay in british.

  • I guess today I'm british I guess I guess I'm a little bit british today, tiddly ho pin lollipop, I need to have less of this luxurious caches shopping board.

  • Still have it cut things.

  • I just do it now.

  • Before you all say you've got msg, it's not Msg, I accidentally bought MsG the packet is MsG but I put salt in there instead.

  • I don't like MsG and it's quite bad for you.

  • So that is table salt.

  • Do not worry.

  • The most controversial cancel worthy statement from Tokyo Tokyo traveler I stated like a fact I stated like a fact Msg is quite bad for you.

  • That's something I wish, I had never said, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • But I believe the history of Msg being bad for you is something to do with being propaganda against like chinese cooking.

  • Um because there's actually no proof that it's bad for you.

  • Like bad, bad for you.

  • Like what was it that this is like, it causes headaches and cancer and stuff these days.

  • I eat Msg all the time.

  • It's in a lot of cuisine.

  • It tastes very good but sweet Emma, she just had something her whole life and took it as fact.

  • So I'm sure there's some things that I still think about like that, that will get changed someday, but that was one of them here.

  • I just managed to get my mitts on my little Catherine Catherine and sand my little fridge right now?

  • I've got that's ambitious of me to put negi in.

  • That little fridge.

  • Very ambitious bananas, meat, tofu, bananas in the fridge.

  • The second most comment I got, I totally forgot it's bananas in the fridge.

  • I didn't know bananas weren't supposed to go in the fridge at that point.

  • So yeah, that was the whole thing.

  • Hi!

  • Oh my God, I missed that town bell.

  • That town Bell was the best.

  • This is my garden.

  • This guy is growing a lot and he's growing little flowers as well as the tree.

  • It's in recovery.

  • I've got this guy from Sam in Tokyo because it was struggling so started back up and we'll plant hospital kind of thing.

  • And this guy agree from cutting you see that you see that green, that green plant then my hand, let me show you what it looks like now.

  • The big boy, it would be bigger if I let it.

  • But I don't, I try to keep it small because Monsters gets so big.

  • That's my UKulele, I get scared to play it because I don't want to upset my neighbors.

  • But that's my a little white girl with a UKulele, I still have it.

  • Oh boy it's very out of tune and there's like a string that's like super unhappy.

  • Oh man, there goes that girl again playing her UKulele at midnight.

  • When will she move out?

  • I want her to move out.

  • when will she leave?

  • She's been here for like three years up the ladder.

  • Here we go, if you don't blanket.

  • These are really Koumas, they're the type of japanese character, they're here in Japan I think Oh I gotta go get it.

  • I recently started sleeping with Sheila Kumar again because it's just nice to have the company.

  • It's great, this guy's great company and he dances so great, he's just got like a great bop boop boop boop, great for hugging.

  • So yeah, I still, I he sat in the cupboard for a long time and now he's back out again, so a cuddle bud, you know, so I sleep with them, they're my friends, I bought a lamp which is awesome, it gives it more of a warm light because without the lamp it's kind of like, oh yeah, gross, gross.

  • At the exact same time as myself over here for those wondering.

  • Yes, I still have my tiny, tiny chair, but now I've got a tiny little plant, this is where I sleep at night and Yeah, I pay 69,000 yen a month to stay here and I know that sounds like a lot, it definitely is a lot of money but I got stuck there like for something like 11 months because I couldn't I couldn't find a place that would allow me to stay with my six month Visa.

  • They were like, oh because your visa doesn't say Yeah, you can't get a contract with us and so I was stuck with this month to month scam me, english friendly places because there were no other options.

  • So if you do get stuck with something like this, It's not your fault, just keep an eye out for something better.

  • Would you believe me if I said that there were worse places in the same building, there were places upstairs, there were only like $30 cheaper a month and you, you didn't get the loft, there was no loft and so people upstairs had a futon that they would fold up on the kitchen floor during the day and then unfold it during the night, like that's so rough.

  • There were so many places that were worse than that place sometimes for even more money.

  • It depending on where you were like shinjuku, it's just so like messed up and I really recommend if you do go to Japan rather than going for a place like this, just going a little bit further out of Tokyo, just a little bit even.

  • Um and it's, it's worth it, it is worth, it's not that bad going into Tokyo and commuting.

  • Thanks so much for watching guys and I'll see you in the next video, johnny O and that was the first time I had the ice cream outro, wow, crazy.

  • Huh?

  • I'm so so grateful to that place.

  • It's seriously without that, I don't know what I'd be doing right now that really boosted and pushed my career and path in the way that it went.

  • And so, so, so, so grateful for it seriously.

  • Um although it was a bit rough living there.

  • Um I'm so, so glad that I did and also, you know, I was very positive and optimistic during that time and that wasn't me putting it on.

  • I was genuinely excited to be there.

  • You know, I just moved to another country and I was so happy to be living my, my by myself and doing my best and trying new things.

  • It was it was a really amazing time in my life.

  • It gradually after that point, it gradually got harder and harder to be there because it was just such a long time that I was there.

  • The one thing that I keep thinking about is the people that are stuck there or have been stuck there during lockdown during Covid, like I can't imagine.

  • Okay, just a few thoughts to summarize when it comes to tiny spaces.

  • I think that they can work.

  • So, so, so, well, I think that if you are able to design your own tiny space or like choose a nice one, I think that you can have a great time living in like a tiny home.

  • But for me, because I couldn't really choose much about it, I couldn't put anything on the walls.

  • I couldn't put shelves up.

  • I couldn't adjust the space at all.

  • It was just not a good situation.

  • I think they're moving forward.

  • I'm very happy to have a normal sized department.

  • Nothing wrong with wanting a little bit more when you come from that.

  • Everybody who watched that video and ended up coming to follow the channel and watching my videos from then on.
